I'm really intersted in geting a Zune when they are avalible in Australia but can I sync the Zune with WMP? I currently manage all my music in it and I dont want to switch to another program to do that.

twelve hours battery life? thats...thats...sucky to say the least. I truly hope that is fixed before launch, the 80gb ipod gets 20 hours audio and 6 hours video...I know the Zune has a bigger screen but still would 15 hours be hard to pull off? and maybe 5 or 6 hours for video? I am just curios, but i am still excited to hear more, oh I found that info on the battery at zuneuser.com

Caesar, please, please tell me this isn't true: you cannot transfer and playback media center video files to the zune? So, you can't do with the zune what you can do with every other portable media center out there. I can't watch the tv shows that I recorded with my media center PC on the Zune? Please tell me this isn't true Caesar. This is Microsoft saying buy either a Zune or a Media Center PC, but not both since they won't work together. This has to be the craziest thing that I've heard about the zune yet. Very interesting decision here. And, I can understand the reasoning: MONEY. If they allow you to put your free recorded content on the Zune, then they won't be able to sell you shows for 1.99. All I can say is Wow. They're making it virtually impossible for me to become a hardcore Microsoft fan by not allowing their technologies to work together. This is starting to get a little weird. They're deliberately removing features of the software. The zune is based on Portable media Center and every other PMC does this. Why remove it?

What I like best about Ratatat is that their music is available from eMusic without any DRM. Which means I can listen to it on any kind of player I want.

What if a song has a CC lisence? If the Zune wraps that file in DRM then that would violate the lisence right? Is there going to be video support at launch? a lot of sites have reported that there would be no video support at launch...that would affect my buying choice a lot, I currently own a zen vision m but the Zune looks promising, I am REALLY interested and why cant you access the Zune Marketplace from the device? that would have had the consumer making impulse buys all over he place...not to mention it would have been one truly distinguishing feature of the Zune making it completly different from the ipod and anything else, I would buy a Zune soley on that feature, this NEEDS to implemented if not at launch then shortly there after. and battery life if its only 12 hours audio with wifi off then well forget it put in a stronger battery thats weak. ok I cant wait to learn more.

^^ huh? it won't play DRM files at all, because most DRM does not support portable players. um... playsforsure, wma-drm, aac-drm... what do you mean drm doesn't support portable players? Car speed vs. piracy isn't a logical argument. Also when dealing with an mp3 player and store, a music company won't contribute their music to your store if they think it will just be stripped ( which always happens eventually ) and shared virally to everyone for free. That is why places like emusic struggle to get music companies to contribute to their store. ( emusic = drm-free music store )

Yes, in the same way that car manufacturers are contributing to speeding by making cars which go faster than 60mph. If I get it right I mean, they will only let you put un-DRM'd files on that Zume-machine, it won't play DRM files at all, because most DRM does not support portable players. Now, that is that an incentive to do what? And then after doing that, the palyer tells you "no, no, naughty boy!" I would LAMO about that in a Monty Python parody, but in real life?

probably because they know that people will just undrm their music. ( like I do with my itunes music so I can play it on my creative zen ) if MS allowed people to share undrmed music, they wouldn't be able to stop people from sharing "illegal" drm-stripped music, and therefore would be contributing to piracy. At least now, you have to physically undrmed it or p2p it. ( <---- you are a horrible person if you steal music ) as much as it sucks, that is the price we pay while others continue to pirate. If piracy didn't exist, than microsoft could allow us to share undrmed music and use 3/3 for drmed music. I know it sucks, but don't blame MS, blame the threat of piracy.
