They say any publicity is good publicity, but not if it's ALL bad. Makes me wonder how many more bone-headed publicity stunts are on the drawing board. Maybe MS should stick with enterprise apps and leave cool to -um- someone else. Watching MS trying to be hip is as awkward as seeing your best friend's dad dance drunk at a wedding.

Trust me when I tell you that in corporate jargon "We didn't sanction this" could easily be code for "Boy that blow up in our faces. Spin, Spin, Spin." The whole Zune team was in New York and a bunch of them were at Max Fish that night. So by my math; it may not have been sanctioned but a whole bunch of you didn't stop it either. Not a big difference between support of an idea or staying silent about a bad idea.

Don't be paranoid. Saying that people would not be upset if it were Apple doing it sounds as weak as when conservatives bray about the 'liberal media.'

There's no conspiracy to give one company or product more slack than another. This was a boneheaded stunt, and it's nice that Cesar here apologized, but it's really the job of the morons in the truck to apologize.

Unfortunately, the people who live on Ludlow aren't going to care. They're just going to remember that some Zune thing woke them up in the middle of the night. For many of them, this may be the first time they ever heard of Zune, and now they associate it with jerks. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Since it was something revolving around the "Zune" name they have all the right to make sure it doesn't happen again. Someone can't abuse the name without consequences. Plus Rogue ad agencies happen, and then get fired.

Something woke me up that night here in the northwest, and I'm sure it was that Zune SUV. :)

I have to take exception to the complaints about lack of access to the Zune team. Cesar's blog has his email address, in addition to the opportunity for you to post comments, plus I believe that Cesar blogs about everything that he's allowed to. Obviously, he has to keep his posts in line with what the company's ready to reveal.

So c'mon, I don't see anything comparable to any of those three communication methods from TOMP (That Other Music Player). Cut the guy a break.
