So since you talk about "a single group focused on creating software and services that enable great entertainment experiences across the PC, TV, mobile phones and Zune devices." Will we see any intergartion of the Zune with Uverse TV services?

I would like to hear "reading books" as a part of the total entertainment experience...so that means that I've always wanted that Zune is able to read pdf documents DIRECTLY, without a convertor which is unable to transalte accurately an entire pdf

I still think Zune needs to open up the software to other OS's such as Linux and OSX, not just the mobile Windows market, in order to compete.

I'm glad to hear something positive for Zune and at least some news regarding the Zune. The player still sounds great and the menu features keep me on my couch controlling it with a remote (iPods can't do that).

The software needs some work and I hope that some of the things on our wishlish at zune.net get added in the next release.

I'd love to see a Canadian and European rollout. Those who say that iPod is international should remember that it wasn't always that way and even their video selection paled in comparison to where it is now. Zune is pretty much there now where iPod was 3-4 years ago and still trying to catch up.

I just hope this means super tight integration. What has made the iPod win (aside from a bunch of cult worshiping fans) is that iTunes is the music app in OSX. Its what people where used to.

If Zune replaced WMP, that would push some people, because they would get used to using the software, and fall in love.

Oh, and we still need a Zune app for OSX. That would help some as well.

I'm cool with it, as long as Zune doesn't die, new Zune hardware (designed by Microsoft) is still created, and the Zune continues to add more and more and expand across the world.

I think we all saw this coming from a mile away; I always assumed Microsoft would expand Zune software and de-emphasize hardware, since Microsoft is primariliy a software company after all.

Hopefully this means Zune replaces *everything* as Microsoft's media software... Zune on Windows Mobile, Windows Media Center, Xbox, even the Sidekick... and suddenly more people are using Zune software than all the iPod+iTunes users in the world.

I just hope since Microsoft isn't shy about making software for "the competition" (Seadragon on the iPhone?) they might be kind enough to make a Zune media player for Android one of these days....

This is big news... I really hope this turns out to be a good thing, not other hardware manufacturers making shoddy hardware and throwing the Zune UI on it, that would suck. I'm really glad that the team decided to keep the hardware division though, I love my zune 120, and I loved my 30 and 80 (and 8). Hopefully this works out well, and I wish the best of luck to the Zune team and their new head of Zune business.
