A delete feature please!! My wife and I share a zune pass and I hate having her music show up on my profile.. if not this, then let me choose which zune to count play's on.

If you judge me by the kind of music to which I listen, you are seriously degrading my opinion of you. If you don't like what I listen to, that's fine. But don't expect me to cowtow to your opinions: I listen to whatever I listen to to please myself, not anyone else.

Having said that, I suppose an edit function would be useful for people who unfortunately live in deathly fear of what others think.

This isn't quite what you were asking, but I can't say enough how much I wish I could make the Zune software not track everything I listen to. I have a psychiatric condition that makes me extremely nervous about people watching me. I've learned not to let these feelings affect my daily activities, but it can make listening to my Zune a pretty stressful experience. I can't listen to a song on my Zune without knowing that the fact that I listened to it is being recorded. This is especially true with the 3.0 software, which seems to just rub it in my face constantly.

Don't get me wrong, I actually think the Social feature is really cool. It's just that I can't use it. I know rationally that nothing bad will come of people knowing that I like R.E.M., but I can't help the feeling of panic that I get at the thought that my Zune is spying on me.

Frankly, if I'd known that this wasn't a feature that could be turned off, I would have been much more hesitant to buy a Zune. As it is, I'm about *this* close to getting rid of it. I haven't yet because I love the Zune and Zune Pass (enough to run Windows on my Mac *only* to run the Zune software -- but begging for a Mac Zune client is another post :), but the 3.0 software is making it that much harder to justify.

Anyway, I'm sure nobody's even reading this thread anymore, and I suspect that my pleas would fall on deaf ears, in any event. But we can already hide all our Social data completely, so why not go the extra step and let us keep our data completely private?

I wish i could edit. My wife and I both have zunes. Unfortunately she sometimes "forgets" to log me out before she connects. So now I have showtunes mixed with my Punk. WTF?!?

I vote that we should be able to edit it. My reasoning, is that I share my Zune with my husband and he listens to comedy cds and whiny emo bands so now thanks to him, Dane Cook and Tenacious D are my top artists on my Zune card. Yeah sure I like them, but I don't listen to them therefore I don't want them on my Zune card, I would rather be able to erase them off and anything else he listens to so that way my card reflects MY listening habits, not my husbands. I don't really care what people think of my listening such as having a really awesome band right before I listen to Britney Spears. I could care less what other people think, I just want my card to reflect what I like because I like to see what I listen to the most.

I don't see the controversy. Sure i should be able to edit it. BUT, I don't have to. Any time you give folks options, they will devise unique ways to use it.

So I download some fancy remix of my favorite Springsteen song and replace an earlier copy with this. No play data, doesn't show up on my favorite list. No problem. push up the play could and my new song is where it should be.

Free your "custom"ers.

No editing - please!

Testing, reviewing, error, cries of "you're kidding" mean absolutely nothing to me when it comes to my playlist.

My Zune is me and the artists that make up my playlist are pieces of me - my collage, if you will.

(my dad introduced me to blues) - Janis Joplin's everything - Jean-Claude Casadesus' "La Damnation de Faust" - everything music from the 60's and 70's.

I don't mind people seeing what I listen to, but my kids also share our media library, and everytime they play High School Musical or some other pap it shows up on my list of plays. My profile is currently showing my most played songs as artists I have never heard of! I would either like some way of stopping their plays from showing up on my profile (and no, they are not linked to my account - the just use the same PC, and they don't have their own accounts - too young) or let me delete songs from my played list please.

I think I'm the reason this post came up in the first place.

The reason I wanted to see if it was an option is I listen to one track everynight to help me sleep ... which I'm sure some others do.

The problem is my zune social thinks I only listen to one song. I'm currently the top listener for ocean sound track ;)

i totally disagree to the editing of the cards......cuz its not what zune is about....

its all about "sharing"....sharing the experiences........having someone laugh at us....when we played classical music...while we fell asleep....thats an experience

showing how nuts we get at the gym....thats an experience...

*and to those people that share zunes or tags....thats part of your life...

*this entire debate would not happen if we would be able to edit.......

what I'm trying to say is that the cards are showing the soundtrack from our lives...why would you like the edit that????....

I say just leave as it is. As somebody posted earlier "hiding plays kinda defeats the purpose of a public playlist, doesn't it?"

I play some pretty lame tunes now and then and honestly I don't care if the whole world knows. After all isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder.

Edit please. I keep some kids stuff on my Zune for my 6-year-old, and don't like it showing up on my card. There could even be regulatory reasons to allow editing - what if someone was listening to a highly personal/sensitive audio book on their Zune? I can think of some scenarios where this could be a problem, and the simple way out is to allow editing.

On a similar note, would love to see a supported API to add music. While some would immediately "game" the system, who cares? Those of us who listen to more than just our Zune (I'm personally a big XM Radio listener) feel that our Zune card is missing a tremendous amount of the picture. Last.fm has a great approach, and I think the Zune Social can learn from it.

Why don't we see an equalizer option which the chip in the zune obviously will support sound spectrum tweaks? Also why isn't there a tentative listing somewhere showing what you guys are working on and a place to put in requests for tweaks and additions? You should learn from Dell that your customers have the best ideas of how to use and design a product not the marketing schmos in a padded carpeted office.
