BTW, they just sold 4250 Zunes. Now's the time for a firmware update. Eh?

Not technically a giveaway but $ 130 for a new Zune not a bad price. That's better than I did on eBay for used one a month or so back. Of course that's $20 better than Woot had it last month. So goes the end of life cycle for Zune v1.

Cesar - Perhaps worth a new post for the day to let people know it's out there.

You've been noticeably quiet as of late. Occasional short posts, no comment banter. In a world of no Zune 2 news and a plethora of new innovative iPod choices it must be tough so we understand. ...of course perhaps you're just on an extended honeymoon.

Hey Cesar got a doubt!? are you promoting Zune through WOOT!! They sold a Zune for $149 on Aug. 22 and today its for $129. Is this to create a large customer base for Zune before the Zune 2 arrives??? or to clear the Zune stocks before the new Device??

I think its to create a larger Zune base before the Zune 2 arrives, bcoz if the rumors are true there's better social/sharing in Zune 2, which would not be possible with out a huge Zune installation base. Well!! thts just my thought.. ;)

what ya mean what am i doing with my zune. i only use it in my truck because i modded my wireless transmitter. lately i get alot of static and now my zune will just erase everything and stuff. earlier i was deleting music i dont listen to and i plugged my zune in to sync (auto sync) and then everything was erased and it had to resync everything. even my movies. and im to scared to use my zune bmxing for fear of falling on the quarter pipe and cracking the screen. i mean i would love to use my zune more and i would if it had a video marketplace where i could download some stuff or at least it there was an update that added codec support so i dont have to convert every video i own haha

and as I mentioned they are releasing next version of Live Search next week.

Note to Cesar. When you make your upcoming announcements can you also please include some sort of statement in regards to firmware update frequency. I think it will go a long way in alleviating the user base concerns that they are completely in the dark as to when to expect these things. At least with XBox you know you are getting a Spring and Fall update. Speaking for myself, I love knowing that. Zune should follow suit. Thanks

ray, that would be a very cool feature. My guess is this *auto* downloaded content will rely on the 3day/3play rule...which makes more sense then the beaming of stuff between you and friend. But what I'm really hoping Microsoft builds is the capability for the Zune service to alert your Zune when new content is available. Thats not just music but also *could* be podcasts that you've subscribed to.

If you combine this with...

- Better compatibility and integration with Media Center

- Video download service

- MSN Direct type service that provides data (scores, news, stock, etc) over FM

- Integration with Live services like Live SkyDrive and Windows Home Server for remote access to content

Then Zune starts turning into something far better than some plain jane portable music player. Lets hope they go some great news next week.

Why next week?

- Fall Season officially kicks off

- Live 2.0 is scheduled for release on Tuesday

- Halo3 is scheduled to launch

- Windows Ultimate extras were said to be ready by the end of summer

- DigitalLife event in New York kicks off and I'm guessing Zune team will make a series of announcements. :)

cesar. are we ever going to get news about firmware update? at least tell me that something is in the works to at least settle that. otherwise i need go get a new player with more support. hopefully if there is a new firmware it will fix my zune randomly erasing everything and not keeping settings saved such as wireless turned off, themes, backlight time and such. its getting annoyying every couple months it does that
