New in the Zune Marketplace, Week of May 7, 2012

Our Artist of the Week this week is Tank, the soulful hip hop star influenced by artists like Chris Brown, T.I., and Bustah Rhymes. Thew new album is called This Is How I Feel, but use your Zune Music Pass to assess your own feelings on the album.

Back with their third album this week, Silversun Pickups bring their 90s rock revival in full force on their latest record. Neck Of The Woods contains the same feel as their past work, but with more a of a heavy psychedelic rock influence.

The world lost one of the most influential and socially-conscious musicians last Friday, as Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys passed away after a battle with cancer. Pay tribute to the late Beastie Boys legend with a playlist featuring a wide scope of his iconic career.

New in the Zune Marketplace, Week of April 30, 2012

Singer/songwriter sensation B.O.B. is back this week with his sophomore album, Strange Clouds. Balancing carefully between the raw rap sound of his mix tapes and the pop notions of his debut, the forecast for Strange Clouds is nothing but sunshine.

Country-pop star Carrie Underwood has her fourth album out this week, Blown Away. If hit lead single “Good Girl” is any indication, the former American Idol songstress will continue to turn heads.

With a lead single named “Happy Pills,” it’s no surprise that Norah Jones’ new record is a more upbeat affair. Little Broken Hearts is her new record, chock full of light soul, bubblegum pop, and some hearty grooves.

One of the world’s biggest R&B icons ushered in his new single this week. Usher’s “Scream” is from his forthcoming Looking For Myself full length, the pop mainstays seventh album.

Making Mirrors
, the much-acclaimed 2011 album by Gotye, continues to make waves worldwide. The Australian electronic-pop artist now has a top 100 global hit on the Billboard charts, thanks to the shimmering track “Somebody That I Used To Know”.

New in the Zune Marketplace, Week of April 23, 2012

This week Zune is filled to the brim with exclusive content, offering Zune Music Pass subscribers an exclusive sneak peak at some unreleased tunes. Jack Black’s Tenacious D has a new record on the horizon, and Zune has the hilariously rocking new single and video. Stream “The Ballad of Hollywood Jack & Rage Cage,” and watch the new video, “Rize of the Fenix,” before anyone else.

In other exclusive news, Zune is offering the forthcoming record from punk rock mainstays Pennywise a week before anyone else. All Or Nothing is the tenth album from Pennywise, and their first recording in four years.

One of the current generation’s most prolific guitarists, Jack White, has a solo record out this week called Blunderbuss. This is the musician’s first solo record, who is better known for his output with The White Stripes, The Dead Weather, and The Raconteurs.

Rap-rock heavyweights Linkin Park have a new single this week, titled “Burn It Down”. This is the lead single from the band’s forthcoming Living Things full length, and blends new sounds into the band’s repertoire.

The British-Irish boyband The Wanted have their debut album out this week. Including collaborations with Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers, The Wanted promises a non-traditional look at the typical boyband sound.

New in the Zune Marketplace Week of April 16, 2012

This week Train makes the headlines with California 37, their new full length album. Our artist of the week’s new record is a concept album about the state of California, and it capture bottles of sunshine and the vast open road in its tracks.

Jason Mraz has a new record this week, named after the most affectionate four-letter word you know. Love Is A Four Letter Word is Mraz’s fourth record, and it was produced by Joe Chiccarelli.

Picture Show is the new affair from Neon Trees, a synth-rock outfit from Utah. This is the band’s follow up to their debut, and should prove a hearty listen for fans of Franz Ferdinand and The Strokes.

The “Teflon Don,” Rick Ross, has a new single this week. Featuring help from Drake and French Montana, “Stay Schemin” is more heavy-hitting hip hop from the prolific rapper.

While the New Boyz could learn a thing or two from mainstays like Rick Ross, this duo has some new flavor to bring to the table. Check out the “FM$”, the new single from “the young teens of hip hop.”

Coachella 2012 is this month, and aims to offer another massive crowd a top-notch list of live music this coming weekend in Indio, California. Get up to speed with who is playing with a playlist featuring artists from this year’s event.
