Well, this is it: our last Mixview contest. Hope you enjoyed it!

Last week's contest - Depeche Mode to Bonnie Raitt - was won by beefyy, who got there in just four steps! Beefyy, send me (jetherealz) a Zune inbox message with your name and address and I'll get your prize sent out to you.

For our finale, let's go from The Crystal Method (which I'm going to get to see in a couple of weeks - doing a live show, not a DJ set!) to The Beatles.

As a reminder, here's what you have to do to win the Zune Home A/V Pack*:

  • You can use the Zune client software or the Zune web site – click “Mixview” when you’re on the starting artist
  • You can click from the starting artist to any other artist or album that appears in Mixview – but NOT listeners (since listeners cards change)
  • You have to submit your path to the “ZContest” account via a forums private message in the official Zune forums. No other method of submitting a path will be accepted!
  • To do this, just go to forums.zune.net, search for a post by user "ZContest," then click "Private Message" when you're viewing the post.
  • The artists will be announced on Zune Insider (here) every Monday at 10 a.m. PST

The contest closes each week at 5 p.m. PST on Friday – so your submission needs to be in the ZContest private message box by then.

* No purchase necessary. Open only to US residents 18+. Challenge ends May 15, 2009. See full rules for details.

Hey Zune Team. Zuneboards.com just had an article about all the zune sites that are closing and basically losing steam. I think its time to give us something substantial. I have almost given up looking for updates and zune news because unfortunately it just isn't there. There are nothing but unsubstantial rumors. No updates, No accessory announcements. Nothing. Ever since I had my first zune (black 30) it has been like this. Around this time of the year everyone tapers off. Sites slow down. Zune News comes to a halt. Sure a lot of stuff comes to marketplace but we as a community need more than that. Maybe name a feature or two that the community has to look forward to. just something to keep this alive. Even a day or month to watch out for. It is quite sad that despite how passionate zune users are that we are left in total darkness. The only news we seem to have gotten is bad with the layoffs and mergers. The last software update was great but I feel like an important part was left out. We were (or at least I) was under the impression games would be a full feature but it just feels half cooked right now. Sure we have some pre-installed games but currently there is no way for people to submit their games and make them more readily available. I have installed a couple when the feature first came out but now i stop because no matter how many forums have games there wont be good game developer support until its native in the software.  These are just my opinions but I feel they need to be voiced and heard by the Zune Team. No matter how much I like my zune it always hurts to see how made fun of the zune is by anyone who doesn't use one. The zune is a great media device but with less advertising lately, no hardware or software news the zune's community has hurt morale.  I understand the need for secrecy in such a tough, competitive market but I feel like a balance needs to be found between update news and secrecy. I wrote about something similar to this regarding the lack of updates on this site itself and got a prompt response back. This time I still hope to get a response but I also wish for this to be forwarded to someone who can make a difference with these matters. Thanks for reading this if you made it this far. I know this doesn't mean much but I can only hope my comment has some impact on the way the zune team operates and the zune community as a whole.
