For all you NPR listeners out there I hope you caught a great piece on All Things Considered last night titled, A Euology for the Boombox. I was listening on my bus ride home and was dragged down memory lane thinking of my old boom box, standing it on the sidewalk and skateboarding outside the house. Boom boxes were really cool, a way to share your music with your friends and neighbors whether they wanted it or not. It was a community thing, people gathered around the radio to hear the new cuts and like the piece says, many had dual tape decks so you could dub a copy for your buddies right there.

We have tried to do a similar thing with social. We have made it all about playing music you love, and sharing that music with your friends. They can check in on your profile page and Zune Card online to see your recent plays, or better yet sync your friend's Zune Card to your Zune. Now you can actually take their music with you on the go and it updates every time you sync your Zune  Your friends are now programming their own mix tapes just by listening to music.  Go take a listen at the link above it is a really good spot, then add me as a friend and sync me to your Zune. Tell me what you think of my mix tape. :O)

Can you folks use paragraphs when posting a blog. In this post alone you have 240 words with no paragraph breaks - making it difficult and sometimes uninteresting to read.

A little more attention to the overall aesthetics of your post wouldn't hurt.

Aaron

I think I may be able to appreciate your mix tape a bit more if you guys had the Zune Pass in Canada ;) Any word on that, or just the usual silence

paragraph break just for experiencemusic - enjoy!

i agree the boombox is dead

and the socal is the new meeting place for sharing tunes can you also share video?

this obviously has nothing to do with boomboxes, which i do apologise for, but why in the world has zuneinsider NOT done a post on the supposed "zune hd"?  Every other zune and even some ipod related sites have kept me up to date with various information, none of which i have seen on this site.  As my "insider", I would hope to see some attempt to clear this jumble of rumours and help us consumers filter the absurd and what is actually true.

So, a good friend of mine (and previous-Zune-user-turned-Rhapsody-user) was making a comparison between Zune & Rhapsody.  Is there any chance that users will be able to create several custom channels that were not generated for them?  I love the "set-and-forget" concept of the channels today, but not having the ability to pivot off of an artist (think Pandora & Slacker for web examples) feels like a serious omission, especially with a Zune Pass subscription rocking.

there is no news... zune is being shutdown (not news)

Don't worry guys i'll take this one,

@Joarlington

Microsoft does not comment on rumors or speculation. When they have something to show they'll do it. Won't you guys?
