Hey folks!

We just this week released a couple of new features, and would love you to check them out!

First, we responded to one of your common requests - How can I change my Zune Tag? Until now, the only way to change a tag has been through Xbox Live - you had to have a console! So while that worked for our gamer Zune friends, it didn't work for everyone.

Now, you can go to "my account" and under "Account Information" you'll see the option to "Change Zune Tag." It will cost 800 points, just as it does on Xbox Live.

Our second feature was another user request, also. We have often been asked how users can connect with other Windows Live contacts of theirs who are also Zune members - especially if they don't know their Zune Tag. Now, on your "my social" page we show you if any of your Windows Live contacts are on Zune. If you have such contacts, you'll see their tile and Zune Tag, and name and location if they've filled that out. There will also be a link to "more of your Windows Live contacts on Zune" - I was pleasantly surprised at how many contacts I had who have Zune accounts but weren't my Zune friends before.

Check 'em out, and let me know what you think!

Cool Jessica!  Very Cool!

Is there any way to show the contacts by First Name/ Last Name as opposed to the nick name?

Very nice. I love this new feature for finding people with Windows live ID's. I just found one of my Friend's (his name is Dave) Live ID and added him. I don't necessarily think I will be changing my gamertag anytime soon though, and I already have a 360, so it won't really apply to me (yet).

Great stuff, Now all MS needs to do is make zune marketplace the default media player for the next windows OS.

So - we can add new features to the Zune Social, which is great... but we are having trouble getting new music updated?  I haven't seen any feedback from any Zune employees as to what is happening.  Last week the main page was not updated in time, but this week - the music isn't even available in the service that is available elsewhere.  What's happening???

Awesome, I have some people on my list I didnt even know were part of the social too!

Why would you charge people to change their tag? As a web developer I know this process is so simple that charging for it is a smack in the face.

The thing I want is the Zune Player's fullscreen album wallpaper on my 360 when I'm playing my shared Zune library on my 360

This sounds great....if only I could get access to the Social from the UK :o(

I realize The Social is getting the most focus over the last couple updates, but is there any chance of more sophisticated ID tag management?  I use a Streambox as my home server and it's more than happy to use ; to allow multiple artists and/or genres.  If you have a duet, why wouldn't you want the song to show under both artists?  I've seen it mentioned as an 'expert' feature but it seems to me that the code to handle a subfield delimiter would be trivial to implement and transparent to anyone who only tags with one value.  Sounds like an easy way to separate the Zune from the pack.

I know The Social is getting most of the focus of late, but what about enhanced tagging?  I use a Streambox to serve music in my house and it happily uses ; to split artist and genre so duets can show under both artists (very prevalent in hip-hop).  The code for sub-field splitting can't be that complex, average users who don't use the feature would never notice and it should help "intelligent" playlists function better.

What Matt said...TWICE!!  Love to plug my Zune into my Xbox which is hooked up to my stereo, but I hat, hate, hate the psychedelic Windows Media Player -like screen saver or visualization thingy.  How about the album cover art or the new Artist montage effect., that would be much better.

I agree - I wish for my Xbox 360 to be a Zune media extender too

it says in the market place on my zune, that i have to connect my zune to my zune tag on my PC to enable my cart. how do i do that?? answears pleased be mailed to winterdragonals@yahoo.com
