Ok folks: the Zune service will be down for scheduled maintenance on Monday, September 29 from 12:01am Pacific Time, for up to 48 hours. During the downtime, Zune Social, the forums on Zune.net, and all of Zune Marketplace will be offline. 

As soon as we're back up, I'll post again!

I also noticed that it coincides with the xbox live downtime. Hopefully some synergy on the way....

48 hours? thats is a long time. not from a gamer/zuner perpestice (we should be able to live without for 48 hours), however, maintenance windows is extremely huge for just maintenance or anything for that matter

hmm...It might be just to fix the play counts issue but who knows????? Anyways thanks Microsoft for the 3.0 Update it is tight =]

all the gamers and zune pass subscribers are goin to be pissed, especially the zune pass subscribers because they have it down for 2 days

It's a long downtime because they're prepping for the whole new Xbox 360 interface. Zune and Zboz are on the same servers, so the downtime of one affects the other.

Would have saved needless confusion if Cesar had posted that.

Why would Zune Pass subscribers get a refund? We can still listen to the music we've already downloaded, we just can't download anything new for two days. Hardly worth getting a refund for.

If this was 'scheduled' can we have more of a heads up next time?  Xbox's Major Nelso gave a 2 week notice for them...  Just a thought....

It sucks because I haven't synced my player recently and my songs started deleting but I can't re-sync because the marketplace is down and can't verify my usage rights.  So 2 days without my zune pass music.

Unless your music is currently tied up on your hard drive.  I'm currently at work and Zune Pass music on my work PC isn't available for listening since I can't sign into marketplace and get usage rights.  I'm sure people that have Zune Pass music they want to sync will run into a similar problem. Basically, if its not on your zune now, its out of reach till we can sign in.

I would expect an extra 2 days as the service is unavailable to download items.  If anything, I would hope that they would delay the expiration of the current passes by 2 days which would be good for me.  Sure you can still listen to your songs, but you can't get new tracks especially on a new release day as this Tuesday.

why can't the software tell us about the maintenance?  if i didn't check here, i wouldn't know what was going on.

what have the vast majority of Zune users assumed?  that the system isn't reliable.

Ok! We're back online, sooner than expected ! Right now, you should be able to sign into Zune Social

I can load the marketplace but can't sign in. Is anyone else getting a message that they can't reach the server? I haven't tried to use the service since I loaded the new software about a week ago...
