Some of you might have caught the announcement by Audible about Zune now being compatible with audiobooks from Audible.com - hopefully many of you have already started to download and listen!

To celebrate Audible coming to Zune, our friends at Audible are generously offering up two sweet freebies: first, a Free 30-Day Trial for new customers, as well as offering all new, and existing, Zune owners a free copy of “Black River” by bestselling writer Dean Koontz also a so there's no better time to sit back and enjoy an audiobook!

Thank you Zune team for adding device support!  Things are coming together very nicely.  Keep up the great work.

SWEEEEEEEET!!!

Thank you!!

The new software is very nice!.

You guys are getting it right@!!

But new Audible Customers only for the Koontz book :(

I'll be signing up later! I think your link is bad, should it be www.audible.com/zune ?

Thanks for the Audible support!  I can now retire my old player.

One question though: what about OverDrive Media Console support?  There has been no "noise" from them about new support for Zune 3.0.

Thanks for the fantastic work!

How to I get .aa files that work in iPod in zune? Is there a Audible plug-in for Zune software?

how do the existing customers get the blue river?

If you sign up for the Audible free 30-day trial, credit card info is required.  Should you decide not to continue the subscription, you must cancel or your card will be billed:

"Note: To ensure uninterrupted service, your subscription will be automatically renewed at the end of each period and your credit card will be billed at that time. You can cancel anytime."

awe, the How Audible Works says Or use Apple iTunes... we that isnt the only option :)

Can we access Audible directly through the Zune Software ?

I don't see any "Audible" links in the marketplace?

Thanks for the heads up about this, I have signed up.  I'm hugely disappointed by something though.  Right after signing up it asks me what my primary listening device will be "iPod, MP3 Device, Computer, Burn CDs".  Where is the option for Zune?!?  Isn't that the point of this post?

Audible is supported through their Audible Manager software, not directly through the Zune 3.0 software.  (Whereas iTunes supports Audible directly.)  Audible therefore considers Zune to be a "MP3 Device."

So I get their software.  I have to ignore the download manager as it doesn't even recognize the Zune.

I use the regular manager, only to download a book it has to launch a web page to click download on (horrible user experience).  However when I click download on this page it says it can't detect their software.

So in my case, Vista + Zune + Audible doesn't work.

i signed up and i got one free credit which applies to all new members i think.  i used it to downlaod bob woodward's new book.  then i tried to get black river and it wanted to charge me...  so it doesnt seem like zune owners actually get it for free but the free downlaod is applicable to all new users and you can use it for whatever you want... kind of disappointing to be misled like that...  unless im wrong and someone can tell me how to get the koontz book?

Looks like the Koontz book is not available for existing customers who have taken advantage of a free book offer in the past. Too bad, and yes, Cesar's post does seem to imply the Koontz book is separate from the free trial.
