As many of you know, we’re constantly seeking feedback from users about what we’re doing, and what we could do to make Zune better. So I’m asking specifically about Zune Marketplace: what do folks like about it? What about Zune Pass? Do you have one? How can we make these better? Post a comment!

And for those readers who also participate in the Zune forums, you can also share your thoughts in this thread.

Setup an easy way to remove all ZunePass music if we choose to stop it.

Actually I like the Zune Marketplace and the Zune Pass, just please make it available to other countries. I'm not talking about official support, I'd just like to be able to log into zune markteplace with my german windows live id.

Marketplace:

Like the User experience, from searching to buying to downloading. But content is the key,

would be better with MOVIES and more MP3's.

(Xbox Live + Zune) Marketplace = AWESOME.

I dont have a Zune Pass.

Matching price and MP3 selection with Amazon would be great!

Have the Zune Pass and love it!  Would be even more incredible if the Marketplace was the same for both XBOX and ZUNE and had TV/Movie downloads that could be played on both the devices interchangeably.  Rent a movie, get to play it on both the XBOX and The Zune for a 48 hour period or something... Download a song while on the XBOX and save it to your Zune That would be sweet!

I have a Zune Pass, love it! Only thing I would like is more artists on it. The longer I have been a member the more bands I have encountered that I can not listen to their music, because they are not part of the Zune Pass. At this point I am resolved to not purchase music unless it is something really spectacular, and Zune Pass allows me the best of both worlds. Except when bands don't participate. Especially older stuff, WTF?!

Add movies/videos/music videos to the pass!!!

Having content in the same marketplace is silly if it isn't included in the price. Especially for music videos, I would rather have free MTV than pay for a music video. I mean really, who pays $5+ to watch a music video? That is just dumb.

Finally merge Zune Live Marketplace with Xbox Live Marketplace, so I don't have to mess around with my music selections.

Everything should flow as one solid unit. Download music from either my PC, my Zune (with wifi, come on do it!), my Xbox or my Server, it all should store in a central location, or build a universal network location for the shares to be combined in, then stream out to all my devices.

Also Zune Pass should be per household. Just a thought. I can see why you would want per Unit. But you can already have multiple units per pass. I am just saying to extend the DRM a little. Not a ton.

My two cents.

i have an "all you can eat" pass and i really like it. i dont care for having to actually buy the DRM  free music. it seems like that should be included in the pass. the only other thing is more of a personal observation, but you could use a better genre screening prosess, i mean, are you really going to put Pink and Christina Aguilera in the rock section?

I agree, movie rentals and purchases are a must. itunes has a pretty good system for this but it could be improved on.

I have a Zune pass.  It works great.  I easily have increased the amount of music I am willing to try an listen to any given week.   I probably pick a few whole albums every few days both from the past and current.  It can be quite fun finding bands or artists from 20 years ago that I remember but would never take the time to buy an album as I just want to listen for awhile.

The only gripe I have is its tough finding new albums on the Zune a few days later.  It would be nice to have a "recently added" way to sort albums or some such thing.  Not a huge issue if you only add a couple albums here or there but 4 or 5 a day in addition to what I already have makes it easy to miss it later.

I will have to give the market place some thought, which I guess is a good thing.  Nothing really jumps out from a usability stand point immediately.

I have zune pass and love it, but would like to see these two features.

1. Allow 3 devices I have a classic 30, a 80, and a 2gb

2. Enable tier one support to reset account when it zune pass forgets what computers are registered.

Love ZunePass. Love it.  That being said, I haven't purchased anything else from the Marketplace.  If I decide to purchase something I'll only buy non-DRM and I prefer not to deal with the Points thing... Particularly if I just want to purchase a single song.

I have a zune pass  its basically perfect. but i would like a way to remove all drmed music if i decide to stop paying for it.

Also any word on any alarm clock docks? i emailed memorex about their year late ones and they said they were basically canceled. Thanks.

I have a zune pass and I love it.  I download probably 10 albums a month so I save a lot of money.  The coolest thing about the pass is when you are with some friends on a trip or something you just give them a computer and they can download all the music they want to listen to on the trip.  Great way to find new music.

I have a Zune pass, and the new software makes it very hard to organize my music.  Here's some ideas:

Better ratings and auto-playlists.  We need these back.  I have no idea how to systematically check the music that I've downloaded.  I want to be able to delete my subscription music that I've given a low rating.

Better sorting and grouping.  I can't filter my music to music I own, DRMed music and subscription music.

Better information about music.  Like the inset sleeve on a CD.  Lyrics, who wrote the song, more artwork etc...

Video organization is bad.  iTunes is bad, Zune software is worse.

The Zune software should be able to convert DRMed dvr-ms files (the ones recorded from HBO).  THe Zune is tied to the PC - there should be no issue with this.

There should be a way to manage subscription content.  A way to say that I downloaded this but I don't want it any more.  So a user has an active subscription content library that follows them (i.e. a virtual library).

For a minimal fee all music should be playable for a limited number of plays.  Say, $4 per month shoud allow you to play any music 3 times - then buy it or not.

We need TV and video rentals.

We could have free TV and movies if you managed to embed commercials that are targetted to the user.  If the user is willing to give up some profile information commercials could be embedded that would provide free movies - maybe a month after release date.

Provide a funding mechanism like the above to podcasts so that each caster doesn't have to seek out their own sponsor.  Like an affiliate program where the podcast gets a %age revenue from the targetted adverts embedded in their download.  An audio version of Google AdWords if you like.

Better stats and integration with the social.  Number of listens next to each song with average rating.   This data is very useful.

An API for all the above (as a service and local .NET objects for accessing the library metadata)

I could go on...

Zune pass:

$8.99 for music only

$1.99 for music & video

Movies are key for me. I really don't care if they're in MP3 or WMA format.  When you purchase the music you own it anyway.  I have a Zune pass.

I wish Marketplace did more to recommend music I might like based on purchases, and provide a better way to go in deep to what's available.  Some weeks, the front page doesn't seem to list all the new available albums, which is frustrating if you are ready to browse. Rhapsody does a great job of opening up its catalog and I'd like to see Zune do a little more of that.

I don't use Zune Marketplace or Zune Pass. I got my music from ripping my CDs. But at some point I will have a need to purchase more music. And when I do, I'd like to use a service that is easy to find MP3 files of high quality (no DRM).

In other words, I'd like to be able to filter out and not even see any songs that are not available in DRM-free mp3 format.

I'd also like to see a service where a user can save money by buying more songs regardless of its album affiliation. I'd like to see the death of the concept of the album. For example, I'd like to get a discount for buying 50 songs from 50 different albums and/or artists. The more I buy, the bigger the percentage discount. No online service does this, so if Zune Marketplace did this, it would be trend setting and newsworthy.

I don't like the Marketplace points, I personally would rather just pay directly and not have to bother purchasing points.

Adding to my comments above,

A Price structure based on popularity or something similar (like Amazon) would be very attractive (making most of the collection DRM free would be even more sexy).

PS: as i mentioned again, Xbox Live + Zune FTW.

Also, the Zune Marketplace should have audiobooks.

Audible support, Audible Support, Audible Support!

Adding more video support (.avi specifically) would be amazing.

I have a zune pass and use it a ton.  I absolutely love it.

Improvements:

1) Add Movies/TV similar to XBL

2) I wish there was an easier way to see what was downloading

3) It's annoying when you can download a song from an artist from a certain cd, but not from another cd (when you search for a song, your choices come up, and click on the link, but it's not available, so you have to continue to search for it).

4) Reccomendations similar to the bottom of an artist's page on the social.

5) Reccomendations based on age group, sex, etc.  (ie. a 27-30 yr old male would like...) and then break it down into genre.

Otherwise I'm hooked on the Zune Pass/Marketplace!!!

One other thing...fix the inability to stream from the marketplace using vista.  I can do it with xp, and when both laptops are side by side, I get an error message (COD11something) on the vista machine when I try to listen to the same song.

Regarding music not available via Zune Pass...

I wish there was some way to see an explanation about availability when an artist/album/song can't be downloaded. As much as I love the idea of Zune Pass, I hate it when I am browsing the Marketplace and I come across music that is available but only for purchase. I know Microsoft can't control the studios or artists, but at least we could have a brief note about the reason why it can't be made available for Zune Pass (and maybe even what they outlook is for changing that). It's especially frustrating with artists that have some of their albums/songs available for Zune Pass download but not others.

And what about a way to be alerted to (or see a report of) music that has recently been enabled for Zune Pass downloads? I've been disappointed by not being able to download many things in the past, but I have no easy way of finding out if the status has changed for those items. It's easy enough to recheck on specific music, but I want to see a list of ALL music enabled for download in the last week (or something to that effect). I don't want to have to remember to check Led Zeppelin or The Beatles or anything Disney (for my kids, I promise!) every couple months to see if things have changed. Or another angle might be to have the Zune software allow users to flag specific artists/albums/songs for later follow-up (either to purchase or hopefully download with Zune Pass).

As many others have pointed out, Zune Pass can be a great way to experience new music or indulge in nostalgia without having to buy. I certainly don't want to buy "U Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer, but I love that I can just grab stuff like that (legally!) when I'm in a flashback mood. Or I can download 30 albums of Christmas music and then ditch it all when the season's over. Especially for us old fogies who had their main music collection on pre-CD media formats, Zune Pass is a nice option to have. Now if Microsoft would just enhance the usability a bit more...

I love love love my Zune Pass.  Would love to see the music videos included and would of course love to see TV shows and movie downloads.  A tie to Xbox "subscription" would be good - and netflix. :) did I ask for too much?

Throw in the really nice fluid-UI Marketplace into WMP 11, and you've got yourself a winner.

I love Zune, but the software program is far too simple. WMP 11 is surprisingly really nice, compared to both iTunes and the Zune program, but a lack of a 'real' compelling online store is what WMP 11 is missing. The Zune program is missing popular functions and customizations which WMP 11.

Put two and two together, and merge the two things.

You'll get happy users, and less complaints. And cut down the cost of ZunePass a bit more and get more CONTENT onto Marketplace so people don't have to use Bitorrent and all that.

Oh, and get RID of Microsoft Points. It's very annoying to have to convert figures in your head as to the real cost of an album. 80 pts. = $1.00 is one LESS conversion that I should have to deal with everyday.

Not every album costs the same, and checking the real price of it can be a hassle. Especially when points are not exact with the American system. That makes people AVOID Marketplace.

Do what's smart, and post prices in plain English. Will make many of us happy.

I have a ZunePass and use it constantly.  I love it.  More bands.  More support.  Music videos!  That's what I'd love to see in it.

On the Marketplace as a whole, the big thing I don't get is the lack of interaction between Xbox Live Marketplace and Zune Marketplace.  I have both accounts.  My tags are linked.  Why can't I listen to my DRM protected Zunepass music on my Xbox 360?  Why can't I watch DRM protected shows on my PC or Zune?

Why does one have music and no videos and the other has videos and no music?

It makes no sense that there is this gap between services.

Right now, the only things I'm concerned  about with marketplace are when videos will be added, and when Everthus The Deadbeats' new album will be up. It's been out for a few days now and its still not up there. =/

Marketplace: Needs videos. Specifically TV shows. (Or, alternately, Microsoft could at least support its own DRM and let the Zune play Amazon Unbox video files.)

Zune Pass: A way to force updating of expiration date of my content in a hurry. Or better yet, a way to have my Zune connect wireless to a server over the net and verify that, yeah, my Zune Pass is still good (if my files expire while I'm out and around without a laptop that has the Zune software on it).

Also, the most common thing I've heard, let Zune Pass owners pass Zune Pass music back and forth. We've both already paid for it.

I wish that there were some kind of reward points / incentives for the zune pass which could be converted into free music purchases.

For e.g.:

If a user has zune pass for 3 consecutive month ($45 worth in all) then (s)he is eligible for converting a certain number of songs (from the leased songs) worth a certain amt of $$ (lets say $5) into permanent purchases (i.e which do not expire after subscription ends).

I have the Zune Pass and love it.  I have to echo the earlier comment that a way to find things on the device after download would be great.  A recently added menu would be a great way to do this.

As far as software goes, I have a few comments:

1.  When I do a search I would like to be able to see if the albums that pop up are included in the Pass.  The old software was great about this but this info is not available without clicking on each individual album, song, etc.  Sometimes they aren't even available at all, Pass or not.  As someone said earlier, it seems that I am finding more and more stuff that isn't available.  I would like to know that from the main search screen without clicking lots of results.  In all, the search portion of the new software is not on par with the old.

2.  When searching podcasts I don't like that the software always returns to the head of the category when I click back after reading about a particular podcast.  Why can't it remember where I was in the podcasts lists so I don't have to scroll through the category hunting for where I was in the list?

3.  Ditto on the TV shows and movies.

Ditch the Zune Marketplace and support Amazon Unbox now!

A couple of points are top of mind:

- Zune marketplace should allow for the sharing of member playlists and highlight the top playlists that members have downloaded.  "Also needs to bring back auto-playlists which is frustrating me right now."

- Zune marketplace should add a ranking for the most played songs.  This should be in addition to purchased and downloaded.

- Zune marketplace needs to get a real ranking system and allow users to view the rankings in different lights. (Community ranking, Favorite artist ranking "How people who have Snoop Dogg as their favorite ranked his song library", and critics ranking.

- Zune marketplace should allow for the autodownload of new music by artists you select as your favorites.

- Zune Pass should cover all types of media whether it is music or videos.  Helps sell higher capacity players and will get more usage.

- Zune Pass should have a family plan.  $ 14.95 for all media is great, but I would pay more (say $19.95) so that my wife and daugthers could have their own players / subscriptions and social interactions.

I love my Zune Pass !

As others have said - lets have some video content (Movies).  I'm heading to Seattle next week for a SharePoint convention.   Sure would be nice to have video on my Zune...  It's a 5 hr flight.

I am rather new to the Zune Marketplace, but I am not new to online music services.  I do like that there is the ability to choose to buy music through the Zune Pass or off a song by song basis.  While I never use subscription based services (because of the horrid DRM that comes with it, and they're always just too darned expensive!), I think that it's important that it is offered to not only keep specific customers happy (because that's how they like getting their music) but also because it helps to encourage the discovery of new music (which is/should be one of the major themes of Zune).

I personally love the selection on the Marketplace, however, I have noticed many albums that I would be willing to purchase only to find out that it is not available.  Perhaps increasing the amount of music (more so than is already being done) would help to sway me to think that the Marketplace is the best (pretty close already).

While I don't know if everyone is in the same boat as me in this opinion, I think that movies, tv shows, and even further expansion of the music video market should be considered.  These are all important to help the Zune continue to grow, and I know several people who have wanted a Zune but did not want to miss out on all the other content available on things like iTunes (like movies).

I understand that the focus of the Zune is a music player (and I don't want that to change), but I have noticed that even the commercials state that it's an entertainment device that can do more than just music, and that should be true of the Marketplace.

No matter what happens from all of these opinions; I do appreciate the fact that Microsoft cares enough to actually ask its customers what they want.

I know there is a limited collection of Mp3's but I would really love to be able to search for just MP3's.

I like DRMless music and so the idea of checking all these artist to see if they have drm is just a pain.

The biggest thing I'd say is to cut out the whole Microsoft Points thing.  It's just such a pain.  Right now I have something like 70 points left over and I can do nothing with them.

I'd prefer if Marketplace allowed you to purchase songs (and videos!) with dollars.

1: Strip DRM off as much content as possible. The "cleaner" the catalogue, the more enticing. Nobody likes DRM.

2: Bring it to the UK. Please.

3: Integrate with Xbox Live Video Store to bring in TV Shows and Movie Rentals.

I absolutely love my zune pass but i have to say, the drm is getting to me.  i really think that after you have had a song for over a year, or w/e, you should be able to keep it.  im getting tired of the bill and may cancel mine if i cant get some way to keep my music in the near future.

I have a zune pass and all is well with that. Of course, there's the obligatory mention of no movies/tv shows but I know you guys are working on getting that nailed down. (I'm really hoping what I heard on Leo Laporte's podcast is true and that you guys are in talks for a subscription tv system for either free with commercials or a monthly fee for no commercials, and that that actually goes through) Aside from that I don't have too many complaints, it works pretty well. Oh, except it would be nice if those of us with subscriptions could get music videos too, since you can find them for free online at any time and it really doesn't add enough to the song to have to pay for it too.

I think that the Zune pass is amazin it has opened my yes to music that i never owuld have found before. The only thing that i could ee an improvement in is if you combine it with xbox live.

I want to subsribe to the Zune pass one month to try it out. And, honestly, I will probably convert the songs in Tunebite so I can keep them forever. Sorry.

But you know what sucks, a free trial for the pass came with my Zune 30 and I lost it... (The pass, not the zune)

Love the Zune Pass.

Only suggestion I would make is possibly trying to extend the time limit on downloaded music. Say you pay for a 3 month subscription, but you're music license always needs to be renewed after 1 month.

I'm sure it's probably a legal issue, but it can get really annoying when you travel a lot and have no acess to a computer.

The pass already allows 3 devices, but where did you get that number?  My family has 4 (myself, wife, son and daughter).  As it stands my wife and daughter have to share a Zune because of this limitation.  Give me just one more!!

Zappa and the Beatles

Open up the DRM and the codecs.  I have MP4 movies that take up to 3 hours to convert and move to my Zune.  Seriously, there really is no reason for this so open it up and give me the convenience that all IPod and Creative Zen owners have!

Bring the social into the software! I don't want to use my browser to send my friend (also a paying subscriber) a song! I wanna right click the song, select "Send track/album to:" and have a list of friends.

As a matter of fact, I don't want to have to use my browser for anything zune/social related. It's nice to have as an option, but it should be for when I'm away from my home pc.

Agree with what everyone said about the better, more organized navigation and the ability to pick out songs that you never want to download again.  Sometimes people have a huge catalog of songs downloaded, and gradually delete them as they sift through it.  At this time if you have a huge library it keeps record of all your downloads, regardless of whether or not you deleted them and didn't want to see them again.

This becomes a problem if... well say if your hard drive crashes and you don't want to sift through thousands of songs to pick out what you deleted in the first place.

Another vote here for the Amazon.comesque recommendations on the front page based on previous downloads, and another vote for making a combined music/video pass choice (when you start carrying video) for just a BIT more.  Given the way movies are priced these days I'd fear the combined pass would be $40+, which is absurd.

I do however have one suggestion that I don't see posted here yet.  How about rewarding long term subscribers (3-6+ months old) with a free, unrestricted MP3 song or two of their choice every month?  It wouldn't really shut up the detractors who don't like the idea of "renting" music, but it would be a nice gesture showing that you trust and appreciate your customers.  It would make you guys look a lot better than a certain association which regards all DAP holders as criminals.

Then again, those sorts of organizations tend to make spawn of (insert derogatory name/demon/moldy cheese here) look good.

I am a big fan of the zune pass.  I actually have two of them for my family's five zunes.  The biggest thing I would change would be to make it easier to move my files from one computer to another.  Over the past year I have had to move music from three computers for one reason or another, and while i could copy the music and play it, I couldn't actually get it to play in the DRM scheme.

TV/Video subscription would be the greatest, at least older stuff/music videos.

And like has been said a few times before, give us back our auto playlists!  I really miss my shuffle lists on my smaller devices (I have an 8 gb device, and it would be nice to be able to shuffle a 2 gb playlist to it.  That is probably the biggest downside of the subscription model.  The ability to have too much music very easily.

I won't buy music with DRM. I'd like to buy music and not a music license.

video!

It would be really nice if the Zune Marketplace had user reviews and ratings for individual songs, albums, or artists. It would also be great if the marketplace gave recommendations based on the songs you've downloaded and the artists you browse.

Movies or/and television shows should eventually make their way on to the marketplace. It would be nice if the Xbox 360 video marketplace and the [future] Zune video  marketplace were integrated with each other.

For example, you rent a movie off the Xbox 360 marketplace, you now have the ability to watch that movie on your PC via the Zune software or via your Zune after downloading it off the marketplace.

This is similar to what Apple does with Apple TV, iPod, and PC (via iTunes). But then again, the user base of the Xbox 360 is way larger then the user base of Apple's 'Apple TV'.

I really like the interface of the Zune Marketplace; although I think the interface for the individual genres look a bit pale. Considering the Zune Marketplace has so many tracks available for download, I think you should make that known by adding more instead of the 'top songs, music videos, tracks, albums, etc'.

I don't have a Zune Pass but I'm definitely considering one. The only thing stopping me from getting one is the possibility of me deciding to stop paying five years from now, and all of my tracks would become unplayable. I guess this is the only way this system would work. I must say, the pricing is actually great right now. But, I bet more people would jump on a Zune pass if it were even cheaper.

To be honest, I think you should look at the competition you have out there and see what works for them, and what doesn't. The Zune team is on the right track with what they've done thus far.

No matter what happens from all of these opinions; I do appreciate the fact that Microsoft cares enough to actually ask its customers what they want.

Here are my thoughts:

1. The number one thing which I would like in ZMP is ability to create smart playlist.

2. A separate section for MP3s

3. When I delete a playlist I should be able to delete all songs from that playlist which are on the hard drive

4. Equilizer. Equilizer in Zune device too and the equlizer setting from Marketplace should get transferred to the device.

5. Share Playlist with other friends. So I can make my playlist public or invite a friend to share with.

6. It might be asking for too much but how about adding lyrics to all the songs.

7. Give me some recommendation based upon the songs I have liked.

8. How about some other content in marketplace about the artist. Like the artist’s latest news feed. So I can subscribe to an artist’s news feed which I can follow.

9. How about radio. Depending upon artist I have liked the ZMP can offer me a radio with similar artist.

These are the few things I can think of right now. I will come back with some more soo.

Love the Zune Pass.  I would love to see some video extended to the Zune Pass.  I think the model could work where some vids would be needing to be purchased, but some vids offered free with the Zune Pass.

I love the visual appeal to Zune Marketplace.  But, the Zune Marketplace needs dynamic search back.  Searching for music is trouble-some at best.  Typing into a searchbar and waiting for an output is so 1980's-90's.  We need it back how it was in the version 1 software where as you start typing, you immediately start seeing results.

I yes.  I would strongly be in favor of buying/renting movies on Zune Marketplace.

Like williamc, I'd like a better system in place for new music discovery. I often use Pandora to discover new music and when I find something I like I'll download it with my Zune Pass.

I know there's the "related" section when viewing an artist, but that's hardly a natural or convenient way to discover new music.

Also, as many have mentioned, an improved rating system and smart playlists need to return.

I don't mind MS Points too much, 'cause I'm sorta used to them from the XBLM. I've bought some music from the Marketplace; more non-DRM'ed music would encourage me to buy more. I don't have a Zune Pass, although it's tempting.

My #1 suggestion is absolutely, without a doubt: combine the Zune + Xbox Live Video Marketplaces. Absolutely. Would be fantastic. Mainly for video portability.

Also: how about user reviews and such?

I'm an iPod convert that has fallen in love with my Zune 8 (red).

My only real gripe about Marketplace is that it takes too long for pages to load.  I've got a very fast connection, and sometimes it takes nearly a full minute for various pages to load.

Also, add me to the list of people who think Movie and TV (especially TV) downloads thruogh Marketplace are are must-have.  Work the licensing deals out toot sweet please.  :)

B.

I have the Zune pass and really like it.  I moved from Urge to Zune when they merged with Rhapsody.  I get to listen to way more music than I would otherwise... has anyone checked out NPR.ORG/ALLSONGS?

Zune Pass could use the following:

1) Social for ZunePass holders - I have friends with Zune Passes, but I can't send them music from my Zune Pass!  We should be able to beam music to each other and have it automatically be licensed.  Yea Right: "Welcome to the Social" for Zune Pass.

2) Better editorial selections - update the music on the different home pages with new well reviewed choices (the indie rock page has had the shins and cat power since the Zune 2s came out).  Maybe even hire some guest "DJs" to recommend new music.

3) The Zune pass should be per household - One Zunetag for me and one for my wife on the same account.  Keep in mind that there are marital property rules that what I own, my wife owns.

4) Updating Playlists - Along with editorial content, I would like playlists that change weekly based on various genres - like radio stations

5) All the combine with Marketplace, add movies/tv, more music are great too.

Please let us change the name on our Zune Card.

Talk about opening the flood gates!

- Allow sharing/publishing of playlists so I can say, "Hey, check out this cool playlist I whipped up in the Marketplace"

- I want a personal page like my Social page in the Marketplace, with richer interactivity.

- Provide some way to mark/tag songs for later purchasing.  Sometimes I listen to a playlist and want to quickly tag items for purchasing.

- Protected Playlists!  Use your 3-play DRM to allow us to play a Marketplace playlist three times before it reverts to 30 second samples.  "Squirt" us a guestlist then allow us to mark it for purchase, so when we re-sync it queues it for buying (with a prompt of course).

- A podcast of the playlists for each genre, so each week we get a podcast with 10 songs in that genre, with a 3-play limit or for Pass users they just get it.  Or just a "Song of the Day for Genre X", each day a new song in the podcast.

- More MP3's

- Fix up some of your metadata

Basically more discoverable options, either via podcasts or RSS feeds or editorial style content that is pushed to us.  Most people don't go to the Marketplace everyday yet they do check their feeds/podcasts.

I have a Zune Pass, and I am enjoying it as well.  So far you are doing everything right, but there are a few things that you can improve on.  Have a software button that will allow you to login to the Zune Software and update all of the expired tracks at once with a progress bar showing the updated drm.  You can use the software update trick to get this done as well, but there's no feedback and I sometimes have Zune clients that I don't attatch my zune to.  I have noticed in a extremely few exceptions where some tracks (due to the artist and music publisher's wishes) have been pulled.  I would like to be alerted when this happens so I have the option of purchase if allowed or delete so I can free up more hard drive space.  I do feel that there should be a music video option to the pass as well.  Whether it should be ad-supported or accomplished by a fee is another question in itself.  I also agree with others that X-Box Live Marketplace and Zune Marketplace needs to be merged.  One purchase should count towards both platforms and there is the larger question concerning the execution of X-Box Live and the Zune Platforms respectively.  Zune handles the idea of a multiple user home fairly well, but this is an area where the X-Box marketplace fails.  Lastly, there is a great potential for a streaming music service using the Zune Social website.  I log in without the Client Software and have a streaming "radio" experience.  This might be an area that could be ad-supported as well, but it needs to be executed better than the internet T.V. beta that is currently available through Media Center.  (Internet T.V. has potential, unfortunately it's current execution is slightly off mark.  The content is far too random and the ad content overpowers the media content.)  The Zune Social "Live" experience should allow me to build playlists or listen to tracks and if necessary an occasional ad thrown in maybe every 5 consecutive plays.  There should also be an instant messenger service that would allow me to share what I am listening to other Zune Pass members on the Social Site.  Sort of a subscribe to RL's stream feature maybe.

I purchased my Zune for many reasons, one of which is the ability of Microsoft as a company to build connected experiences.  Adding a music player that was a distant cousin to my Media Center pc and my X-Box was something I could not pass up.  The Zune Pass sealed the deal for me, and the Firmware 2.0 update gave the device the final steps towards being a connected experience.  Now it seems like everything is up to fine tuning the ecosystem, and building the experience of the platforms.

Zune Pass -- we have two.

-You should be able to import a .zpl and email another user (who has a Zune Pass) and the list of songs should download when you sync the .zpl to the player!

When subscribing to Podcasts, most videos need to be converted before being synced. I really think if they're being offered in the Zune Marketplace, they should be in a Zune-ready format. It really discourages me from using the Podcasts or syncing my personal videos when the Zune device can not recognize the most popular video formats.

Marketplace needs more mp3s , less drm and dont forget movies and tv shows....the experience of using it is fine.

Oh and this really bugs me, you have Soca and Calypso artists as under the Reggae/Dancehall genre. Im Jamaican and have friends with zunes here it really buggs us that when we want  to find a Trinidadian or Barbadian soca artiste like Alison Hinds we find them chilling with Bob Marley. They are two VERY different styles of music, and its almost offensive...actually it is offensive and ignorant of other ppls cultures to have us lumped together because we're Caribbean. Thx and bye!

I Dont Have A Zune pass but it would be nice if we could organize our music, because everytime i edit the artist name it leaves it at unknown. and it wont let me fix it or what album its from. thats my only problem editing the artist, album.

I love my Zune Pass, but I find lots of errors.  Maybe it's just because of the non-commercial small label metal bands I listen to, but I find lots of errors like:

-band names listed incorrectly

-album titles incorrect

-misspellings

-albums listed as "parental advisory" but after downloading it's the edited version

-etc

Is there someone we can report this stuff to directly so it can be fixed?

hmm was my post edited out? I posted several hours ago and it's still not up. Not really sure what I said wrong.

Get it out to the rest of the world - UK as a minimum :o)

I think that making the Zune Pass cheaper would be a good step - more like $10 per month.

Zune Marketplace and Pass should be launched worldwide. It will make it simpler for those of us living in the UK.

Me again. Hello.

Metadata needs to be fixed when dealing with certain albums. I purchased yesterday the Blade Runner 25th Anniversary album and it appears in my collection as three albums, and not as the three albums evenly distributed across the physical CD set.  Here's a pic that explains how the tracks are divided.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/viking3/2296240466/

So the only way to play this album in track order is to create a separate playlist.  Which is a bit silly.

One more thing...

Music metadata for genres is broken.  The classifications don't work and are next to useless.  We need a community driven tag cloud for music.  Think Flickr tags for marketplace media.  Using some sort of tagging voting system.

I don't buy any DRM'd music so until the Marketplace began to offer MP3's I didn't buy a thing.  I subscribe to Emusic and download from Amazon and get my music that way.  I love the fact that MP3's are now offered but the pricing isn't always in line.  Just last week I wanted to buy an album, but it was cheaper to download from Amazon so I did so.  No way pricing should be different.

Integratio!!! XBOX 360, Media Center PC, and Windows Mobile say hi!!!

I am an educator using the Zune for podcasting but is facing an uphill battle against the iPod entrenchment. The Zune is great for this and the 80GB model with video out is great to connect to a projector. Would like to see this capability in the 4Gb and 8GB models also.

The MarketPlace podcast submission while great in concept DOES NOT work for me. When I submit a feed it tells me thank you and then the submission disappears into a big Black Hole never to be heard from again. Is there some type of feed validator that podcasters can use to validate their feed before submission? I have submitted my feed multiple times since mid-November 2007 when the new software was available and this is frustrating not being able to "register" my podcast in the MarketPlace. This is an opportunity that is frustrating many podcasters that want the Zune to be a success but the level of service is disappointing to date with the podcast submission feature. There was built in excitement in the podcasting community with the release of the new software in November 2007 and many podcasters submitted their podcasts to the MarketPlace only to be disappointed that it never showed up in the directory. This has been a golden opportunity lost for the small but devoted podcasting community. Please help us as we are searching for viable alternatives to distribute our podcasts.

The other great thing about the Zune that attracted me to it in the first place is the ability to "beam" podcasts and songs from one device to another wirelessly. Yes I said "beam" please do not use the derogotory term of squirt ever again. While I realize the Zune is targeted to younger hip users the podcast thing has great potential for educators, if you are interested in pursuing some educational uses of the Zune please leave a comment regarding this post with your contact information or make a separate posting on Zune Insider related to educators so I can contact the person responsible for educational use within the Zune division.

The Zune Marketplace is a bit sluggish and slow, I am using XP Pro. One BIG benefit would be to open up the Zune to allow direct uploading of files using the Explorer interface so that the Zune is recognized as just another flash drive (like the iPod, capable of storing regular PC files), that would be a HUGE improvement for educators preparing multiple Zune devices for student use.

oh yeah, a merger between xbox and zune would be excellent!!!

I got rid of my Zune Pass sub due to the fact that the billing was very erratic. Once I canceled online, I was immediately billed for another month! When I called about a refund, I was told my 14.99 they billed me in error would be refunded. All I got back was 8.49! I love my Zune, but no more Pass for me.

test

Would love a Media Center interface to browse and stream music with the remote control. Take a look at the Napster interface. This is the one thing that keeps me from switching to the Zune Marketplace from Napster.

Definitely need a Zune Pass that allows you to download unlimited music videos. Also, the whole feature offering needs to evolve, like others have  suggested - finally, XBox Live and Zune integration for movies, etc.?

I can say that I have purchased over $1,200 of music from the Zune Marketplace over the past year or so. Obviously, I have very few problems with the Marketplace or the Zune in general, except that there is no Xbox Live blade for it. It seems rather silly or almost idiotic not to have a seemless experience among all MS devices. Heck, where are the TV shows and movies. Still waiting for those.

Also, who the heck keeps up with the music genre pages. When I go to indie/college rock (or whatever it is labeled), why is it never changed out with new music? I mean, albums are released every Tuesday. Those should be featured very prominently. I don't care about REM's albums from 20 years ago (not to say I don't like REM, I do), but give me recent stuff. I shouldn't have to reference Billboard or whatever to find all of my new album releases. It's an extra step that is worthless.

Zune Marketplace should offer more video content (TV Shows and Movies).  I also would get rid of Microsoft Points and charge .89 cents or .99 cents per track like every other site on the planet.  You should also go 100% DRM Free like Amazon (where I currently buy all of my music).

Never used Zune Pass but if it was more like the new Slacker Service that just came out I would use it in a heart beat.

Id like the software to be as easy as the old software to find the album information. The old software you just right clicked the album and it would say find album info and when its showed u the album art u just clicked it and u were done please try to get this feature  back.

I want to be able to download Zune Pass music directly to my Zune through Wi-Fi. Plus I want to be able to delete music directly from my Zune. And make playlists on my Zune. Basically I never want to hook my Zune up to my computer ever again.

I think the Zune Pass should include muic and videos, or at least the music videos.  As for the Marketplace, it's pretty good really, and don't have any realy complaints that aren't DRM or price related.

Video, we need Video options. TV Shows, Movies. Let us pay you more money for content.

I love Zune & Zune Pass, I wish there was a way to sort albums by release month/year instead of only by year... Also, I wish that when you hit the back button from looking at an album, and it went back the the list of albums (when you sort albums by year) that it would go back with the album you came from highlighted and not go back to the beginning of the list, very frustrating when you are trying to download a bunch of new albums and you have to scroll down over and over again.

Vishwas

If a user has zune pass for 3 consecutive month ($45 worth in all) then (s)he is eligible for converting a certain number of songs (from the leased songs) worth a certain amt of $$ (lets say $5) into permanent purchases (i.e which do not expire after subscription ends).

Make it international

I would like to hear Indian Music..

Bollywood makes about 800-1000 movies an year.

98% of movies have 5-10 song Albums

in Marketplace i see 8-10 albums of bollywood of the 800.

For MarketPlace & Zune Pass to become more attractive propositions the following need to be dealt with...

- There needs to be a way to play DRM content on Windows Mobile devices.  I've propose that you consider creating a Zune branded Live SkyDrive for the purpose of storing & streaming media content to Windows Mobile devices.  This would support the widest array of partner hardware already on the market as we are talking about a Windows Mobile App.

- Zune Pass is problematic in a Media Center/Extender environment because of the need to periodically renew licensing.  There should be some sort of License Manager service that can do this automatically.  If I'm storing my music on a Windows Home Server, there should be some sort of add-on that necessary components to renew licenses and stream Zune DRM content from WHS.  You got to do something here!

- Purchasing an Album (all the tracks) should have additional advantages to just getting the music at a slight discount.  We should also get the lyrics and additional art for free.

- Zune Pass should also include access to MSN Direct type of FM data service.

Dynamic Top 10 lists

and other Top "whatever" lists

Merge the Xbox and Zune Marketplace would be great

I would buy hundreds of songs rather than the thee that I have purchased if the market place was DRM free. MP3s at 320 kps would be perfect. Get rid of Zune Pass to make this happen.

I like Zune Pass, and think folks are missing the opportunity to select any song you want and take it with you, rather than have it only via streaming.  It definitely helps differentiate the Zune from other unnamed services.

I would agree with the first comment - allow me to easily identify Zune Pass music via the player.  Additionally, and this is more a Zune Software comment, but relates to this, it would be nice to be able to sort via date added.  I, for one, have a real hard time remembering what I downloaded, names of artists, etc., so sorting via date added I can see what my new music is.

I love the Zune, BTW.  Down with Apple!

I suppose it's already been said, but I would like videos, movies and TV shows added to the Zune Pass, or at least the marketplace.

For the most part I'm really happy with the Zune Pass and Marketplace, but there are a few things I'd like to see.

* An easy way to remove Zune pass tracks from your collection if you'd like. Some of us like keeping track of our music, and the Zune Pass tracks get jumbled up with the rest of our (owned) collections. Maybe just another tab in the Zune software, showing us what we have from Zune Pass and only that?

* I'd like to see recommendations out of old and (especially) new releases. I had an eMusic account for three years and still would if I could justify having both that and the Zune Pass. One of the things I really love(d) about the service is that it automatically shows you new releases from bands you've purchased already or bands that match your tastes. Since plays are tracked with the Social, the marketplace could make even better, more accurate recommendations. The new Mountain Goats album dropped and if I hadn't been sitting on the edge of my chair and anticipating it I wouldn't have known unless I was looking for it. Crazy!

* The ability for users to submit their own playlists. This might fall more under a suggestion for the Social, but I'd love to be able to have a section for playlists that I've made on my social page and then have people be able to buy the entire playlist or download the tracks with their Zune Pass.

* More editorial content! The marketplace could contain articles, reviews, comparisons, concert notifications, etc. This could, and should, be the place that I want to go to to learn about new releases. Look at what eMusic is doing. Look at sites like Pitchfork, Coke Machine Glow, Tiny Mix Tapes, Stereogum, etc. I want that sort of content on the marketplace -- I'd *love* it.

* More content. I know it's being worked on, but I want more. :)

I love the marketplace and the Zune pass. what would rock is if there was some more video content, like the XBox Marketplace, and if there was the option to subscribe, like Netflicks for an Unlimited download option, even if it was DORM that would really push the whole downloaded movie thing. You could rent a high def movie and take it on your zune to a friends HDTV and watch. it. That would rock. Games would be cool too.

I had Zune Pass for over a year but I just cancelled it. I think it is priced $5 more than it should be and the DRM gets in the way when I want to play music on all my electronic devices.

I have switched to downloading from Amazon..... why?

1. They have DRM free deals with all of the major labels

2. I don't have to mess around with Microsoft Points

3. Everything is 256 MP3 and can be played on all my stuff (TiVo, SONOS, iPod and Zune)

My Zune Pass ROXXXXXXX!!!

Add TV shows and movies to marketplace!!!!!

Well i had a Zune Pass, loved it. Would like to see Xbox + Zune + Windows Live = total apple killer. Combine those and you'll win.

I won't suggest adding more content, I know you guys are working on that.  What I'd like is a better way to search the marketplace, specifically podcasts.  The podcast directory is a mess, with podcasts being placed in off the wall subsections.  The player in the marketplace should separate video and audio podcasts the way it does on the device.  The addition of a way to create a playlist of unplayed podcasts (video and audio separate) so that I don't get a cramp clicking over and over.

More skins for the software would be nice.  I hate the trippy skins it has now.

I'd like to see more done with Zune Social.  Why doesn't it, or Xbox Live, blend better with Windows Live accounts?  Seems to me it would be more social if it did.

Lastly, what's being done to pilfer bands from MySpace to Windows Live Spaces and Zune Marketplace?  Seems like a lot of opportunity to bring more people over by having them follow the music.

Other than that, I'm still very pleased with Zune.

I would appreciate if zune pass is avbl for other countries.

I love my Zune but I am currently buying my music from iTunes, then stripping out the DRM. I can NOT stand the MS points system. I HATE it on both my 360 and Zune. I honestly would buy a lot of content from both the Zune store and 360 store if it weren't for the points system. While you're at it could you try and kill of the DRM once and for all, please?

All in all though, so far so good. I picked up my brown Zune the second day it was available and have been very pleased with the progression of the device and platform. Keep up the good work, you guys really have the potential to challenge Apple and their media stranglehold. I wish I could quit my job and come contribute some code to the effort... :)

~cayce82 (at yahoo)

im sorry if this was posted.. its so annoying to not be able to edit the songs in the marketplace anymore.. i dont feel like having a second program to do this and i loved that i could just click and fix this info.. also just copy and paste album covers  why do we have to save them now?? i know you can delete them after but still. oh and movies!!!!!!!!! i know microsoft doesnt think this is big (probobly a profit stand point not customer) WE ALL WANT THEM.

Ooooh, here's another idea. You can have something along the lines of a star image for a favorites icon. If you like a sample you hear in the marketplace but don't want to buy it right now you can click on the star to add it to your 'to buy later' list.

This next feature suggestion isn't marketplace related, but it would be nice if the Zune software had online radio, ala MSN radio and Pandora.

I gave up on the original Zune, the software were terrible, I refuse to get anything without podcast support.  I just decided to get a Zune 8 for my wife and I because she likes the subscription music.  And I've been blown away by the new software, it's great and the podcast support is excellent.  Why oh why couldn't the Zune have been this from the beginning and it wouldn't have the terrible reputation it has now.  Only suggestion, let the software convert other types of video such as Divx for the Zune.

What i would like is that when i man listening to music i bought if i could like click on the name or something and it send me to where i can download all there song in the marketplace. Something like itunes had.

Open the marketplace for Europe. A lot of us already imported the player and while full support (and an official release) would be great, allowing us to access the marketplace (and Zune Pass) would be enough.

I want movies on the Zune market place and more music with out DRM

I have been using Zune pass for a couple months now and I am on the fence on whether to keep it.  The main factor is price.  It really needs to be cheaper.  At this point, I think I might be more satisfied buying $15 worth of music on Amazon then going the pass route -- no DRM and you own the music for life.  I would like to have it around $5/month, but realistically, I would consider it long term at $7/month.

In terms of what could make it better, I would focus on music discovery.  I have been spending more time on last.fm and would really like to see something similar.  You have all this data on what I am listening too, but it seems like this is going to waste.  A "wow" experience for me, would be if the marketplace constantly analyzed my listening statistics and created custom playlists for me to be downloaded.  Even going the social route, the marketplace could use this data to find people that listen to similar music, and automatically  create a playlist based on the gaps between my habits and the habits of similar listeners.  Furthermore, I would like to see this analysis and be able to drill down even further based on the music genome project (or similar).

I'm sure most of you know this already but just for the record...

Apple iTunes Store Now The No. 2 Music Retailer In U.S...

;) DOOH!!!

Oh hey, I thought of something else! Two things actually. 1) There should be a page you can go to that lists all of the new releases available on ZMP for that week. That would be cool. But even better would be 2) having a way to tag artists and get updates when new music is added to their catalogs. And not just new releases per se, but older albums too when they are added to the Marketplace.  The second feature especially would make my life a lot easier.

I have a Zune pass, and had it now for over a year. I do love it, it gives me a chance to load my Zune with contents I will never buy directly. I download more 100 songs per week, and I have over 11K songs on my Zune 80. I also manage content for the 2 other Zunes my family carry, all from the same 2 PCs ...

Now, how can it be better:

-. More Content, its usually bad when you find something you like and you know it will never be available (i.e. Metallica...)

-. Develop a way to re-sync the DRM on the files on the Zune without direct link to the PC that loaded them... Usually on long trips where I take my Zune some of the DRM on the Zune expires and I get errors and can't hear music...

How about Wireless update over internet...

-. Develop some kind of reward program: Since I have been paying Zune Pass for a number of months I would like to keep some of the downloaded tracks, even if I cut the subscription...

As for other updates and upgrades to Zune software, there are many many... WMP11 was much better IMHO...

T&R,

DS.

Not that you don't already have enough comments, but...

1. Basically all the video that's on the Xbox Live Video Marketplace? We should have that in the Zune marketplace. And when I buy one in one place, I should be allowed to download it in the other (assuming it's the same zune/gamertag).

2. Can I have my smart playlists back, please? That's the #1 most missed feature from the old software for me.

3. Incorporate more user feedback, ratings, reviews and such into the Zune software (rather than just on the web). And let us review/rate podcasts and video podcasts.

4. More music. Too many albums/artists are in the database but unavailable. Way too many. It's especially odd when you don't have things like the Halo soundtracks.

5. This is a bit more far-reaching and long-term, but how about an indie store on ZMP? I mean, let Indie Musician Steve actually sign up for the ZMP publishing program (free), put his music up there at whatever price he wants, and then MS would take a cut (20%-ish) of the sales. Make ZMP a place where anyone making music can sell their stuff without a label's intervention. Make it policed by the community, and if complaints are registered, MS can pull the stuff off there and revoke Indie Musician Steve's "license" to publish on ZMP.

I really love the Zune Pass. It's the main reason I don't use an iPod and it’s the biggest difference between the two players. When I tell my friends about the Zune Pass they always say, “Man that awesome. I wish iTunes had that.”  It allows me to discover new artists without paying a bunch of money and then regretting it because I ended up not liking the artist. The only things you could do to improve it is put more artists on it, of course. You could try offering two services; one like it is now and another that is cheaper and ad supported. Also, I love the idea of a merged Xbox Live and Zune marketplace.

I know this is a little late, and a total shot in the dark, but here goes.

I subscribe to eMusic, and love the fact that I pay a monthly subscription fee for 90 songs.  Sure, it's all independent label, etc., but the idea is awesome.  So I haven't gotten a zune pass yet.

I would jump immediately on the Zune pass bandwagon if some sort of hybrid between all-you-can-eat and own-without-drm comes out.  Just think how cool it would be to listen to the whole universe of music, and 'keep' a handful every month after you've found that you really like it.

The only thing I'd say about the zune pass is the price could be a bit lower. That said it's still not too expensive. I am not a subscriber but have tried it last year when i had the free 14 day trial.

I should say that now that Zune has podcasts I don't listen as much to my own music, so I'm not going to pay an extra $15 a month to not listen to the new music

I'd like if the zune pass actually WORKED! it never does, so I wasted my money on it.

I have a zune pass and absolutely love it.  What I would like to see with the pass and marketplace are:

1. Start advertising it, I've always felt that this was the key selling point of the Zune not swapping files between players.  The more Zunes sold the better the service becomes.

2. If a song isn't available I don't want to see it.  I'm tired of searching for a song or band only to find every album is not available or it's some knock off karaoke version.

3.  Karaoke or tribute albums in their own catagory not linked to the actual artists would be great.  If I want to hear horrible sounding cover versions I'll go to a bar.

4.  Timeline of availability on non available music.  Or reasons why an artist pulls their music from the marketplace.  I had bought the track Photograph by Def Leppard, I now cannot get a replacement download because they pulled their catalouge.  This is one of my biggest complaints, if an artist pulls their tracks and you loose the file, you can't get it again.  This also happened at EMusic with the album Night Ripper from Girl Talk.

5. Music videos included with the pass.  I shouldn't have to buy a music video.  All it really is is an advertisement for the album.

6.  Over all I do not like the new Zune Software, I was hoping with the update it would be less of a resource hog, but it's just as bad of a resource hog and now the meta tagging is all sorts of busted up.  I'll down load an album and sometimes it's sorted into three different albums.  Please revamp and pair down, I don't use a piece of software because it's pretty i use it because it works.

That's it.

Following up on the Zune Marketplace poll I did a few weeks back, the Zune team and I want to go a little

1. I have a Zune Pass.

2. What I like about it?

• I like the interface. It is not boring.

• I like the hack which lets me change the background.

• I like the big photo you have of some of the artist when I go to their page.

• The related artist section is cool even though I have not gotten to use it too much.

• It is not cluttered too much which is really good.

3. How can you make it better?

• More songs in ZMP. If I am paying $15 then I would like all songs as subscription. I know it is not in your hand but please keep up the pressure.

• Related artist section for music on my hard drive. Suppose I have an artist downloaded on my drive, right now I have to go to ZMP section to look at related artist.

• EQUILIZER….PLEASE!!! On device too.

• Why not allow us to select a folder with a few pictures to set as ZMP background and lit the software change it every few second. Heck…this is the web 2 era so why not let us subscribe to a picture feed which keeps changing the background?

• Separate section for MP3. Or an option so that I can just see MP3 and not DRM material. You really need to put MP3 as a separate section.

• Separate Video section.

• Let’s have monthly charts. Or better still can I have a chart reflecting my friend’s music. So in case I have 10 friends in Zune Social, then we can have a chart of top songs from those friends. That will be cool.

• Bring us radio like Pandora. That’s a cool way to discover music.

• At the front page under new and necessary why not introduce a feature that when we move the mouse on top of one of the album, it opens up a small window with a bit of review or information about the album. And when we move the mouse away let this window disappear.

Just had another idea.

1. What about a section for coming soon. Lets hype up some coming soon albums. Better still lets follow development of an album.

2. How about digg like feature. Let user comment and hype up a song, artist, playlist or album. That would be cool. You can move artist up and down based upon the chatter.

3. How about this. In order to discover you guys can introduce a feature which takes user on a ride. A small journey. For example I select Spoon as journey then a song from Spoon can start playing and while the song plays the ZMP has a slide show going on with artist info, influences etc. As the song end take the user to next artist who is in some way related to Spoon like Interpol (I picked up the name from related to) and now the slide show changes to information about them. This can go on to next artist which could have influenced Interpol and so on. That’s would be great. And slide show can be made to look cool with some good information.

Hey…just a though.

I use the marketplace quite a bit to find new stuff &etc.  The one thing I would change (about the marketplace...I still want smart playlists more than anything in the whole Zune universe though) is that if I cant download content, dont make it show up in searches.  Lets say, for example, I want to download Elmo singing "Sing" on Sesame Street (you know...."Sing, Sing a song, sing out loud, etc ,etc etc).  I search for it, and see a bazillion songs in teh song list.  I start clicking on htem, and at least half of them I CANT LISTEN TO, either by paying $$ or using the Zune Pass.  There needs to be a way to tell that I cant listen to something while I am looking at the big old list of songs without having to click each one, only to find that I cant hear it.

Ok this is really really bothering me.  There are a lot of songs and albums on the Marketplace that you can't buy.  Especially things that I want.  I get excited to see they're there and I click on them and they are "not available".  Why have them there in the first place?!  If I wanted to just look up an artist for info, I would just Goog- ahem - I mean I would just LIVE search them.

Oh, I almost forgot - more videos would be a nice addition.  A long way to go before you catch up to iTunes.  Also, the points thing is a real pain.  I'm a pure PC Gamer so I won't be using points for XBOX live or anything but Marketplace.  At least give the option of paying for things with dollars.  I don't want to wind up like that guy up there with 70 points and nothing to do with them.

On the bright side, I do like the software.  Light, quick to start up, minimal interface.

i think you guys need to add videos and movies to the marketplace and i would be sweet if you linked xbox live marketplace to it and play it on bot the 360 and the zune, im pretty sure that would make 360 owners want to buy a zune even more

Not to offend anyone but I prefer iTunes over Zune Pass. I see how it makes sense to not let users bun CD's or keep music after the subscription is over, but do you have to subcribe for the rest of your Zune's life? Unlimited music is waaaayyyy cool, but I'd rather pay 99 cents and get it over with and own my music forever. Just think about it.

Hey, me again...I also wanted to say that more videos would be nice. I LOVE my 80 GB Zune and the software is good.

So sorry.. but I thought of something. If I could get Microsoft points from a card in a store instead of a credit card that would be great. Ijust hate using my credit card online. Microsoft points would work for me that way though!

I take back what I said before. I didnt know that you could buy microsoft Points without a credit/debit card. Now I am satisfied with my options for purchasing music from Zune Marketplace.

But the Marketplace could really use a whole lot more  videos. Really. Movies would be nice, too. I dont understand why some music is unavailable...

Zune inserts a tiny gap between tracks.....

This is way annoying especially when you are listening to an album that needs to flow from song into song. I hate the slight pause between tracks.

Please change this in the future, or allow us to set a crossover fade option for us that want albums played the way they were meant to be played.

Other than that I love my 80gig zune and i have a zune pass and seem to get things I want within reason.

My zune broke about 6 months ago, they told me at the time that I had to cancel it on my own, There was no option on the site. So I spent 6 months off and on not being able to cancel, And not using the service, while still being billed for it. Meanwhile I was being billed 14.99 a month for a service I wasnt using. Most of this time, I was on active duty orders for the US Army, when I informed them of this, and the fact that it puts me on a protected status, and as such they could not hold me accountable for the previous bills, and needed to issue me a refund, they said there was nothing they could do, and hung up.

ADD MORE AC/DC! I have to ilegally download all of my AC/DC music because you guys don't have ANY!!! If you want my money, get my music!

I wish that i was able to buy videos with a zune pass it would be good if you had 2 kinds of zune passes. One for music and one for video. I guess the video one would be more expensive but i think people would buy it

I bought my Zune so I could get the Zune Pass. I don't really understand why everybody is so anti-DRM. Every car, every stereo, every computer can connect with a Zune, so why do we even need to burn CDs?

I like the Zune Pass because it gives me access to all the music of my youth without having to buy the CDs. My music collection would look a lot different - and be a lot less fun if not for the Zune Pass.

I would like to see more artists allowing their music to be included, however. I also would like to know how many Zune Passes are out there and if the program is going to continue. I'm afraid the Zune isn't doing so well in the market and, one day, my licensed music collection will be cancelled.

I would pay more for videos to be included in the Zune Pass. I would love to download HBO and network television shows such as The Office. But I don't want to pay for TV. I guess I'm really, really cheap. I would pay, however, $40 per month to include TV and movies on my Zune Pass. That would be a great deal.

the only problem i have with the marketplace, is that plenty of the albums i am looking for, are missing.

i don't have a zune pass, because it just seems like a bad investment to me.

i would REALLY like to see MORE METAL!! there's no burzum, half the in flames albums are missing, and the new dark tranquillity album ISN'T THERE.

i would like to see more death, and black metal albums in the future.

those are my only complaints. :)

also, alot of the album art looks pixelated. most of the newer releases are fine, but many of the older look pixelated.

but that's only a minor complaint.

I loved (and still kind of love) the Zune Pass and Marketplace when i first got it, but i'm starting to find more and more annoying things about it as i go.

1.) A lot of the albums are unavailable, even with points. Maybe its my settings, but i went through and checked everything and i'm pretty sure its not. Why not make this music available if you're going to show that it's there? Just take it off if you won't let us listen to it.

2.) A lot of the new albums that i know of that are coming out daily are never on there for at least a month. I know, i should be patient, but i hate that. For example, an album i really wanted came out about May 14th i think. It's still not up on Zune. I went to iTunes and bought it there instead.

3.) It's really annoying that there are no 'Zune Cards' or anything like iTunes cards in stores. I never put internet/computer things on a credit card, so i would like to get zune points easier.

4.) Movies/Music Videos/Games etc. should be included on the Zune Pass. I started using Zune to get away from Apple and iTunes, but i seem to keep going back to it for the little things like TV Shows and Music Videos, as well as unavailable music.

The most important of what i want more out of zune is Music Availability. It takes much to long to get music after it comes out, and a lot of the music shows up, but is 'unavailable'. Plus, more music needs to be available to the Zune Pass. Random albums i would have to buy, but i'm not going to because of the no-Zune-cards thing i said before.

I love Zune and Microsoft, but you guys really gotta shape up.

For the most part i like the Zune experience. I do have a cuople of issues.  Why can't i delete music from the device without a PC interface? When will we see movies, videos etc in the Marketplace?

THEIR MISSING TONS OF ARTISTS, granted most the ones im looking for are "underground" i guess their even missing popular artists. ID stick to limewire lady's and gentlemen, i get more from that and its free.  GET A ZUNE- sweet device, BUT DONT EXPECT MUCH FROM MARKETPLACE-plus its exspensive yo.

You've got the wifi allow searching and downloading directly from the zune with zune pass.  I had that on my Sansa Connect and have just been abandoned by Yahoo Music Unlimited.  That was by far the coolest feature of that player and no one else is doing it well yet.

Put in AC DC! Why aren't they on the marketplace!?

i like the idea of allowing three people in a household to share a Zune pass. If would buy one for my family if we could like multiple LiveIDs together. That way we would still be ale to link the Zunes together with the Zune Pass, but we will not have to get rid of the individuality of the Zunes

If it wasnt for not being able to keep the stuff after you stop subscribing i would sign up for a year right now. That really erks me when many people can just get music for free, and do. I feel like i have a leash on with the zune pass and as long as i have my music i cant take it off.

$10/month zune pass

$15/month + 5 download zune pass

I have zune pass and I love it, but I think you should merge zune marketplace with xbox marketplace especially since the xbox is merging with netflix. Also an all inclusive zune pass were you can download every thing including tv shows and those occasional 1 or 2 songs that cost 79 points. And I don't really fond of the point system...why 79mp=99cents why not make it simple like 50mp=$1 or just really simple with 1mp=1cent

I would like to be able to stream music from my Zune to my Xbox 360 without having to connect it by wire. That would be sweet! i always have my zune with me but I don't always carry the sync cable and when I go to parties or friends it would be way easier to just connect the zune wirelessly to their xbox and play the music.

Let me use the social/marketplace in Europe. I already have a gamertag and would like to stream stuff.

Loving the Zune Software interface.

i havent bought a zune yet because im still undecided about the zune marketplace vs itunes but if the marketplace had movies and more songs hands down id by a zune

I just purchased a zune and so far have been unsuccessful in setting up my account.  I purchased a prepaid card and have been trying to add it to my account, yet all that comes up after logging in is a blank page.

So far, I am not impressed, and I haven't even been able to try the actual content yet.

I don't have any major issues with the Zune Marketplace, but after the music is purchased, I can't listen to it without being signed onto the internet. If my internet is down, I can't listen to any of my purchased music through the software because I can't log on to the marketplace. This seems really limiting and inconvenient. I shouldn't need to be online in order to access something I paid for.

I have a zune pass and would like to see:

a. no DRM. it is really annoying to not really own the music on your zune.

b. more than three zune compatibility, for people who have more than 1 or 2 zunes and are still sharing with family, friends, roommates ect.

3. less unavailable songs and albums

other than that its cool

well, i don't have a zune pass but am considering it, the only thing that is stopping me thus far is the collection. i've heard and seen that the marketplace does not have as many songs as napster or rhapsody. I think that would be something that should be worked on.

Another thing, it would be nice if there was a rating system that was not just like or dislike for autoplaylist feature.

When do movies come to Zune Marketplace

I really want to put the movie  007's Quantum of Solace on my zune

It would be great if you could link the zune pass to three separate live id accounts. Since it can be shared on three computers and three zune devices it would be great if each device could use a separate live id for donwloading from the marketplace.

Please have movies available soon!

how does zune pass work? do you have movies?

I love my Sonos system and have used it with Napster and Rhapsody. I would switch to Zune Pass but there is no access from the Sonos. Using Zune Pass downloads is extremely inconvenient compared to Napster or Rhapsody. I wish MS would realize this.

set up a way bands can get onto the market place. And give us a way to get paid and promote. I like money dont you ? =)

I would love to have some sort of deal on hd movies with zune pass. I would be willing to pay a little more per month for access to movies.

Canada!
