As in Bun E. Carlos

This isn't meant to seem racist or insensitive, but it certainly appears that the majority of the Zune marketing is geared towards Black or Latin markets.

Any comment, Cesar?

b/c they are the trend setters.

I believe the fact that the Zune team is devoting part of its marketing resources promoting Latin and hip-hop artists, where competing brands are not, is what gives this impression.

Wow. And I thought *I* might be viewed as racist.

Well, Apple has done some marketing with latin and hip-hop music in their commercials, and even an iPod "silhouette" commercial with latin dancing. Also, it seems like the iTunes Top Songs are often African-American artists.

It just seems like *most* of the Zune marketing is geared towards Latin and African-American audiences.

a recent report says that the Latin-American audience on average spends the most on electronics than any other ethnic/racial group. i'm not saying that has any bearing on their marketing plans, but it wouldn't be a bad idea.

on the flip side, you could argue that apple marketing is geared way too much towards the white majority. for instance, the U2 ipod, or almost every commercial they've made. white "pc," john hodgman, and the "mac" who is the stereotypical white 20-something. and why is it that every non-white person in every apple ad is portrayed only as a silhouette? again, i'm not accusing apple of anything, but my point is that perhaps you are looking way too deep into it.

it's good that the zune is marketed towards different markets. but still a shame that no one's targeting the very lucrative and statistically affluent asian-american markets.

Who?
