Hey Cesar,

Why has Microsoft been silent on sales numbers for the new Zunes?

Last year they were loudly trumpeting how Zune was the  #2 selling hard-drive-based mp3 player, and that sales were on target to meet the goal of selling 1 million devices by June 2007.

This year there have been no sales numbers released for the new Zunes, so are we to assume that sales are not very good with the new models?

I'm assuming if they were selling well Microsoft would have been proudly announcing holiday '08 sales numbers to the press, true?

When will East Asian Character support happen for the Zune?  It is pathetic to look at meaningless squares.

What's wrong with Squares? Just kidding, but i mean i would love East Asian Character support, that's even bigger than a simple clock. I'm just waiting for my soundtracks to arrive, hopefully this Thursday or Friday.

So, this is probably not the avenue for this, but I was curious to get your reaction to the Zune 80 availability.  I've not seen anything really written anywhere about another shortage (save a few board posts) but when I recently went looking for one (online and off) I've found it near impossible to find one.

Amazon isn't directly selling it.  BestBuy within 15 miles of Hollywood, CA don't have them in store.  Target doesn't. (not online either).  Dell doesn't have it online.

Any insight here?  Is it just a shortage?  When will we see them hit retail?

Nick

That Yael Naim song sounds familiar... only I have no idea where I've heard it before.
