Today, Zune Marketplace and Zune Social will be down for upgrades and scheduled maintenance. Once the production teams bring these back online, I’ll post again – stay tuned.

ya know, i woke up today thinking that this would be a great day.

can't wait to see the new stuff!

firmware/software updates too?

;-)

Yep i'm excited, of course I was about to download the quiet storm.

umm guys, he didn't say firmware upgrades. this is probably just behind the scenes stuff that won't affect us. ( aside from maybe faster marketplace and slightly faster software )

sounds like some new features?....

I don't have a wish list on the top of my mind so Go Go Gadget Sweet Surprises.

The value-add from actually getting updates is somewhere the Zune definitely stands tall compared to the iPod.

I hope they make those Zune cards better

at detecting played songs

New features will be nice

oooo. Updates. I am excited

I'm not holding my breath for firmware or functionality. I'm guessing that this will just be the next beta release of the Social. It might make updates to play counts more timely. It might fix some small bugs, like issues with "Service Not Available" when you try to update the picture or background on your Zune card (something that seems to happen if you've already updated the pic, and then try to change it again without closing out the browser and relaunching). It might make loading friends a bit more responsive during peak hours. Am I the only one that has noticed that it has been taking longer and longer for friends to load as people get more friends on their lists? I'm guessing that as the Social gets used more and more, the Zune team will be doing frequent tweaks behind the scenes to ensure that performance scales.

So I'm not expecting anything amazing. It's a bit soon for any big new functionality. But any update is a good update!

I think I'll expect nothing and hope to be surprised. I'm guessing very minor tweaks to the back-end, maybe one or two small UI adjustments to the Social, nothing to get all that excited about. Anything else will just be butter.

'course I can dream about Audible compatibility ;-)

But I'll probably be disappointed. I think that's still a ways out.

According to that post from Zune Tech support, they will inform us what is "new".

So maybe we will be getting something.

I hope they figure out how to have seperate Zune Cards on the same account. It's a pain having to switch back and forth between people.

The monthly subscription of $15 given the amazing sound quality, makes Zune irresistible. More Details
