Yes, kudos to the team for listening to the community and issuing this release so soon. I can't wait to see more updates soon so we hard core Zuners can really brag about our Zune.

Mine keeps tellin me that I dont need any updates. But I dont have the metadata update.

when can we expect to see unicode support on the zune player? to display asian characters that is.  it'll be great to know if it's coming at all. thanks.

met, your ratings aren't touched by the new software.  i checked by looking at several songs in windows explorer.  the ratings are still there, they just aren't completely utilized by the new software.  hopefully they'll listen to us and bring it back on the device soon.

was hoping that it was going to be a mini-toolbar. That would make zune player better.  as it is, i only use it for updating music because its a pain to always have to switch back to it when i'm doing other things.  still couldn't believe they didn't include this in

"can’t connect to pc, make sure you’re logged on."  experiencing this and seeing this logged in forms more and more everyday.  all zune services are running, no firewall.  is anyone looking into this, or providing specific documentation on why this happens (the online help is a little sparse on this topic)?

yea changing those two files doesn't do a thing.

So how can i remove the software i have and get the software that wont destroy my entire music collection.

I upgraded my software the first day it came out. How do I know if I have this update? Because When I "check for updates"it says I'm up to date.

My zune software still shows the wrong album art for some albums. I did all the steps but it didn't work.

Including asian fonts in the next device software would definitely be a welcome addition... I don't understand why in 2007, some device that has already needed to support full Unicode lacks the fonts, while even early MP3 players manufacturers worked on bitmap fonts to show them correctly on 2 line of text displays...

Thanks for the fix about the metadata.  It appears to have fixed my issue, there still seems to be some mix ups with artist\album, I'm going double check my data.

One other note on the Q945319 document.

Step 1 says to start the Zune software prior to renaming the sdf file. I'm using XP and when I attempted to rename the file it barked at me saying that the file is in use.

I had to close the Zune software to rename the file.

I'm havin' same problem as Tsmith.any suggestions?

the zune team has put out several fixes in the past few days.  as it turns out, i suffered from many of these issues they're addressing.  that sucks.  but i have to say that i am very impressed with the speed with which the zune team has tackled these issues.  

seriously, let the guys losing sleep because they're working on this stuff know that their work is greatly appreciated.  thanks a lot.

I have followed ALL of the fixes for the music tracks being incorrect but still the tracks are out of order. I am getting fed up with not having my music in order after running the update. The menu display is too large and my tracks are out of order. I have called into tech support for the Zune with no avail. Please fix the music tracks and the display menu. I could have done without the wireless update if my music would still be in tack. I should have known better then to run an update when it first comes out for Microsoft but I was just so excited about the wireless option.

I have tried for some time to understand whether Zune is WMA lossless capable, but without luck.. I have tried Microsoft sites, fansites, 3rd party sites, Retail sites, Review sites & e-mail to Microsoft, posting on forums, etc.. Posting a comment on this site is my last resort. Can somebody please tell me if Zune can play my music  ripped using the WMA lossless format?

For some reason yesterday on my computer I kept getting this error message when trying to download podcasts, not music just podcasts, "Error code C00D11B2 Can't complete the operation because there is no Internet access. Make sure you're connected to the Internet, then try again."

I am connected and signed in. Any ideas?

Well, I am having this problem. And I think it's a bit ridiculous to have to wade through this microsoft help sheet to try and fix it myself. So far the first option hasn't worked.

This is sad. I want Zune to succeed so much, to give the ipod some competition.  But these kinds of problems are making it hard!

Also, what happened to my playlists?  They're still on my device, but I'm not seeing them in the software.  Am I looking in the wrong place?

So far, it looks like everything is still ok on my device, just not on my PC.  So maybe I can recover from this disaster somehow.  But this is NOT what I expected from the newer version.  Very disappointing.

Zune Love it, Hate it... comparison

After several updates (following the instructions rebuild the zune database) and a complete reinstall from scratch, I still cannot get rid of all the errors. I still have a few instances of incorrect album art, a few songs associated with the wrong band, a lot of mistakes when sorting by "song number," and without any display of the composer the classical music is impossible to categorize.

At least, with the old software one could use the edit functionality to fix mistakes. Now that the new edit functionality is severely limited I cannot fix this mess. What were you guys thinking? A rush before the all-important holidays buying season caused a premature release? I wish I could say I'll buy an iPod instead, but I have and their software has its own problems. A pox on both your houses!

I hate the new zune software iam hoping for a new update or alternate way to sync my music and videos.The new software fusterated me so much i dont think i'll use the software again until thiers a new update please update soon. Whoops i accidently posted on the wrong update (1.3 update)

Any eta on when the Asian font support becomes part of the software? I have alot of kpop and jpop that just displays empty squares. I really don't feel like hacking into my zune just to make a change that should be part of the standard software.

Biggest complaint that I have is that it can't seem to put my tracks in the right order for music that I've downloaded. The metadata seems right but it's still putting track 10 before track 1, and track 21 before track 17. ARRRRGGH!!!

new zune software sucks! They should not have changed it. It is the most confusing piece of crap yet. As Coco Chanel said " It can't be elegant unless it's simple". Go figure. . .

want to download music on my zune to sync in my auto. auto manufactuer says that i need to ugrade zune to 1.4. how do i do that.

Uggghhhhh this is sooo confusing! I can't change my artist name or album picture or anythiinnggg! I have to search everywhere for my recently added music. I HATE the new software! How do I switch back???
