Hey, why isn't Zune Originals engraving on the Zune 80 until December. Am I really supposed to wait that long? And will it still be free by then.

John S in NJ

Yay!!!! Finally I can uninstall that iTunes crap (only had it for podcasts)! ;-)

Matt G (Mastaglach820)

Updated mine (software and firmware) before heading to class.

dead jim

my library is destroyed, and it won't add it back correctly.  i had to delete the entire library just to get anything right, and even now it's terrible.  i have albums listed under wrong artists, and there is no way to fix it.  it doesn't matter how many times i delete the files, make sure they're labeled correctly WITH ANOTHER APPLICATION and add them back, they keep going back to the incorrect artist.  even worse, there is no way to drag the album to the correct artist.  don't even get me started on album art because i have no idea how the software has gone about adding what it has.  my art was located in the folder, and the jpg was titled "folder" so that everything read right, but not now.

seriously, this is a huge mess.  thanks for putting out something that destroys my library and removing any way to correct it by taking out the tag editor.  'preciate ya.

Michael Griffiths

Cheers;

New stuff look good...

BUT. And I mean BUT.

I'm having problems with the Zune software:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v152/tardisinc/NewPicture3.jpg

Not only is the color overlay annoying and makes the software nigh-on-unusable, but it also has the bad habit of putting a static BMP of the software screen acnhored at the upper left corner whenver I load a new page in IE (covering the window, etc, and going away if I draw the IE window around).

It may have something to do with my software environment (WinXPSP2, IE7, all updates, etc), but if so it's nothing I can think of.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a "Submit Bug Report" link in the software Help online, so I'm commenting here.

Jaxim

Before you update your Zune software, check out this thread:

Seriously

Seriously...early December for the 80?? What are you guys thinking? I've been waiting forever for today, only to visit the Zune Originals site and find out I have to wait even longer IF I'm going still buy it.  At first I was irked by the change in rating systems (surprise, surprise), then it was the lack of EQ, now I'm supposed to wait even longer for the 80... You just may have lost out on a sale and some very good word-of-mouth advertising from me...

MNZuning

Fairly painless upgrade for my 30gb Zune this morning. Can't wait to have more time to play with the new features.

So far, my first impression is... zippy! New firmware seems to be a bit more responsive. I like it.

King P

I would just like to say "Well Done!" to the Zune team. I'm really enjoying the new firmware, and the design of both the Zune software and firmware looks great!

So far, the only thing I don't like, is that the new Zune software has jumbled my artists. For instance, I have Radiohead's "In Rainbows" album and the new Zune software gave it info for Jimi Hendrix, post sync, and I don't have a way to manually change that.

There's a few other issues similar to this, but otherwise this was a great release!

Good work!

LunarFlame17

This probably isn't the place to ask for help about this, but I can't install the new Zune software! It says "Setup must stop because the required package 'Zune' failed to install" and gives me error code 0x80004005. I hope I can figure out how to fix this soon, cause this is a real bummer after all this time spent waiting.

Michael Koerner

I like the new update. My only problem is that it messed up a ton of my album art work! WTF! It's going to take me days to fix that.

MAN!!!!!

BrandonG

Ceasar, could you please comment on the video that shows the Zune 80 with a screensaver?

Is this only the Zune 80 or do the 8 and 4 have it as well.  30?  Thanks in advance!

Ron Fricke

I have been using the new firmware on my zune 30 since 6:30 EST. It is much, much faster than the old firmware.

One thing I am still unclear about; will I be able to but h.264 videos on my zune 30 without transcoding like on the new hardware?

John

How did you embed your Zune card on your site? I'm getting a message saying my card is not currently available or doesnt exist

AA

Is there anyway to revert back to the old version of the software?  I didn't update the firmware on the device, b/c the lack of features on the software is more dramatic than I anticipated.  It took a lot of thinking, but I was eventually able to think of ways to deal with heart / broken heart...  BUT the lack of auto playlists makes this a deal breaker.  I loved my Zune 30 just the way it was.  I've been using it for a year and it seemed to be just fine.  Now with no auto playlists I don't know what to do other than going back to the iPod that skips...

Please tell me there is a way to go back to the old version of the software - like an idiot I made this change without completely thinking through the consequences.

R1Jetta04

I thought that I read that the equalizer wouldn't be available on the updated firmware. I updated my zune 30 this morning and it is still available. Thanks Microsoft!!!!!

Espiox

Can I get access to the Zune Originals site please? I'm in the UK but I want to order through an American friend.

Jaxim

Here's few other things to consider before upgrading your Zune software:

Impressions: What you don't like---

http://zunerama.com/forum/index.php?topic=6945.0

Ahd Child

Hey Cesar. The upgrade went smoothly for me, and overall I like the new software. There are some problems I have with it though. Here is what I posted on 'rama about what i don't like:

1) Can no longer delete files from software - I've been using the Zune Software to manage my entire library. In the old version, if I found a duplicate, I deleted it and chose "delete from library and computer" Now, the only option seems to be delete from library. If I want to actually delete a file, I have to take extra,  unintuitive steps.

2) No import OPML - I exported my podcasts as an OPML file from Juice in anticipation of this release. It seems import/export opml is in every podcasting client, so I was disappointed to see it missing from the new Zune software.

3) No Auto Playlists - This is a big blow to me. MS says not a lot of people used them, and that may be true, but it's no reason to ignore the people who do use them. I think those of us who do use them relied pretty heavily on auto-playlist.

4) No edit info dialog - How could they take out the track info dialog box? If I add a new song that's not recognized by the software, i want to be able to edit ALL of it's tags in one dialog box.

5) No Editing Movie Data - The old software's handling of movies and their tags was horrible. I was hoping it would improve, but it seems to have gotten worse.

Microsoft has taken a big step forward with this new software, but unfortunately it seems that there were also some steps back. A simple and straightforward experience does not necessarily mean cutting out all  intermediate and advanced features. As a matter of fact, that ends up making the software more complicated. Now, I need a separate program to manage music tags and one for movie tags. Now I need to spend chunks of time manually creating playlists that previously took less than a minute. Now I need to jump back and forth between the Zune Software and an explorer window to delete files. This does not add up to a simple user experience.

Abe

the new software is very nice, but it's doing some weird things with the track numbers (are you going to tell me that 05, 08, 09, 13, 12, 13, 01, 03... is the right order?), it won't let me edit my tags besides track and album titles, and there doesn't seem to be a way to add album art by looking it up through the zune software.  it is NOT for organizing, clearly, but it is a nice interface.  also, the search function is nice and all how it  will search your library and the marketplace, but i much prefer the livesearch where you type and things narrow away the more you type.  no need to click anything, press enter, it's just there and without extras.

RCX

Why why why are east asian language character sets not included >_<, especially it's a simple matter of installing a font set. Even worse is those who managed to install a EAL font set (from 1.2 to 1.4) had them deleted in FW 2.2. Most annoying.

I do like the new software tho, much better streamlined, and the zune responds faster, especially FF thru videos...

I just want my EAL characters to be displayed. Is that too much to ask for? (been asking since last november remember?)

Dan W.

Ditto to John S from NJ.  I can finally uninstall iTunes and be completely Apple free.  Loving wireless sync and the ability to sync Media Center videos (I was always flabbergasted this wasn't available earlier.  Seemed like a natural).

My wish list now - Zune Marketplace video viewing for Zune Pass members.

Bar

Whoa!  Big problems!

My library is scrambled!  I have songs listed under the wrong albums.  It looks like somebody threw the whole library in a blender!

IndyLux

The new firmware and software are wonderful!  Everything is infinitely faster and more intuitive.  Podcasts are great.  Wireless sync is a nice touch.  I am a happy camper.

I do need my auto playlists back.

Crippler

The new software interface is nice.  But this update has made a total mess of my album art and has made duplicate songs under wrong artists also.  What is going on?  I too used the Zune software to manage my collection of media.  Why has the software been stripped down to basically a shell?  No advanced funtionality at all.  Come on, many of us can handle the 'advanced' features.  I don't want to have to use multiple programs to manage my media.

Espiox

I have an idea for a Zune Card feature for the future: The ability to display which device (including colour) the user owns.

Alex S.

I like the new look of the software and the firmware, but I miss that I can't just drag and drop songs into an album and have it stick. It seems like the old Zune Software was more intuitive for music management, I haven't played with the new software too much so far, but I can't fix my songs at least easily right now. Sorta makes me sad =(

Chris

Thanks for the update team. I'll be finishing the install when I get home this evening

Marijn

When, WHEN will it be available in Europe/The Netherlands??

Publius

Any reason why I cannot login?

Stocks

that;s cool, any particular reason you're screwing everyone out of the customized 80g zune till christmas? i might have to rethink my decision to buy one now.. who wants the generic un-engraved player? not me!

Chris

Yay!   Absolutely love the new features.  Great Job Zune team!

In regards to the heart/noheart haters out there.  Simple solution; if you go through the process of rating all your music, just create playlists and name them 1 star, 2 star, 3 star, etc... So not a big issue.

Great Job ZUNERS!  To echo a previous statement: bye bye ITUNES.  I don't need you anymore.

Ricardo Dawkins

ey anyone with trouble...go to forums.zune.net NOW!

Tablet PC User

What a breath of fresh air the new Zune software and firmware have brought! Bravo Zune team!

Robert Reed

Whoa! The early morning adoption process was SLOOOOW.  I'm guessing lots of people trying at once overloaded the Zune servers?  I'm now successfully going.  http://social.zune.net/member/Frogbutts

DH

upgrade went smoothly but that's about where the good ends, my library is TOTALLY screwed up and the best part is that i can't edit anything to correct it.

giqui

I CANT MANAGE TO INSTALL DE NEW SOFTWARE. I HAVE TRIED EVERY WAY BUT I STILL GET THE SAME MESSAGE: SOME COMPONENTS CANNOT BE INSTALLED. TRY LATER. ITS THE ERROR 0x80240023. PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO SOLVE IT !!!

THANKS

Enter Name Here

Holy crap!  The new software is WAY sexier than the old.  Awesome job, Zune guys!

CurtBlair

Cesar, I hope the Zune team is paying attention to the discussion underway at "zune software" section of the Zune forums. This software "update," new features notwithstanding, is a total disaster that cripples the Zune experience--badly enough to drive me to a new media player. I have no idea whether that's the majority opinion, but it's sure the consensus among people who are serious about managing their music libraries.

oscarntommy

don't you think it's a little "wasted" to not include a web browser inside a wifi-enabled device like zune?

The real Nick

Mine didn't work ;_;... I tried it before work... I should have brought my cable ><...

It keeps telling me my stuff is up to date.

John

Yep, mangled my library also...have albums with multiple artists all over the place.

What a joke..sure glad you guys decided not to actually beta test this...

Rafael

Is there any way to downgrade at all, I don't like that I can't edit the meta tags, which I think should have been disclosed early on, I miss the recently added feature as well, and of course the ratings system. I also don't like that i can't control Play/Rew/Fwd with my keyboard like i could with V1 software.

Cesar if you know an update is coming to take care of these issues please let us know, If not please tell us of a way to revert back to V1 Software/Firmware

Thanks!

Rafael

Well something happened and now i can control the software with my keyboard.

Here is a feature request if you started taking notes down,

A "Status" tab for the "Collection" part of the zune software that can show us what we have "Just Added" to our library, just like on the "device" tab.

Thanks!

sjgmoney

See this post for those who's album art/info got messed up, seems to be a fix:

http://zunerama.com/forum/index.php?topic=6979.0

Ken

My library is all screwed up!  It's duplicating songs and putting them in different albums.  I have the wrong album art and wrong ablum title on certain songs.

Sean

Here is my Zune Profile

http://social.zune.net/member/SeanSean911

Great Job on the new Software and Zune Update!

RumMonkey

I like it, thanks Microsoft, i'm quite impressed and excited,

I mean i knew Zune 80 was coming out, at first I was like 'crap' more money I need to spend, (i'm English see, my country got the iPhone yesterday but we haven't even got our Zune 30's yet, apart from me) what I didn't realize is that you guys were updating the Zune 30's! Lol i'm a bit behind in the world of news at the moment ^^.

But yea very good, although it does seem like is has changed some of my album covers for a laugh, but nothing major.

northerngeek

Hey RumMonkey, don't think you're the only British Zune user- my family is now a purely Zune househole. Still can't manage to get this update though, servers are running like treacle.

Christopher Coulter

Great UI, killer in fact, and slick. But agreeing with the previous commenters, my library is sure in a pickled mess (duped songs and album art mixup serious), the 30 upgrade path, is not as smooth as I would have liked, oh oh. Granted a big jump, but all 3 of my 30's libraries are sure mucked up, so it's not just me. Sigh.

But due for an 80, so starting fresh, was all set to rush to store, but then...letdown.

So pretty typical Microsoft, improvements galore, but with all SORTS of potholes and strategy taxes. I am already wanting 2.3 firmware and a sync software update.

1. Great UI, better sync software.

2. Much better Marketplace and overall experience.

3. 30 upgrade problems serious (Geeeeepers, how'd that pass beta?)

4. Killjoy on the 80, wait til Xmas, coal in stocking. Blah, why get our hopes up? Shoulda told us before.

5. Sigh on H264 and MP4 on 30. Another gotcha.

Ptath2

I love it so fare, I had some minor problems with my library but the fix I got here helped reset my library.

http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/zune-talk/12606-fix-album-art-tags.html

renaming of the CurrentDatabase_365.wmdb and the ZuneStore.sdf did the trick, it seems to force the software to rediscover your library from scratch instead of the 1.0 library.  You have to re-associate your Zune to software but you don't loose anything.

Christopher Coulter

Groan, "it appeared it would be a very rarely hit issue". Geee, lucky me, so rare that 3 outta 3 took, with 2 of my Zune buddies with similar issues. So they KNEW about the bug, but chose to defer fixing and 'walk' people through it AFTER it happened? Rare? Not what I am hearing. Off to learn more and hack up things up for a fix, I hope. Sigh.

Atpaw, again

Actually, to elaborate on my autoplaylist complaint-

I've only ever made one manual playlist; all of my others have been automated.

Nevermind my "more advanced" use of autoplaylists to present new songs for easy consumption, but what's the point of even rating songs if we can't make a nice automated playlist of "Things I Like"?

I can't imagine having to drag new "I <3 this song" songs into the Good Music playlist every time I rate one of my songs.

It's the 21st century; computers are meant to be our slaves and make our lives easier.

Again - please, please, please, can we have autoplaylist functionality back?  And one with the same elaborate-to-the-point-of-being-silly filters, like being able to include/exclude songs because they have the word "Pineapple" in the Copyright information.

I can hear the iPod owners queuing up to poke fun at Zune owners for this lost feature, already.

ignacio

i cant install the software (ERROR 0x80240023).if someone know how to solve the problem please comment about it.The microsoft oficial solution to the ERROR 0x80240023 is the zunePackage but i dont want to download it cos its 166 mb

Naris

While I like the new look of the software it seems that changing around a lot of things seems to have screwed with everything that did work.

I never thought I'd miss smart playlists until last night... hate the fact that I have no idea where anything is.  It seems that in an effort to dumb everything down (or "simplify" depending on who's reporting on it) that a lot of stuff got mixed up and crippled.  It's also odd that my Zune gets screwed up while trying to sync a podcast.  I could understand half an hour or so but after 5... something's wrong.

It is a nice effort to change things but I can't even begin to imagine the sort of headaches everyone involved (users and developers) must be going through to adapt to the sharp change.

Publius

The libary needs some serious adjusting. none of my tags, album art, etc. is correct.

I love the interface, the social, etc. wot uh the deal with the the library?

Miller Time

I have the same problem as seemingly many others do. "Setup must stop because the required package 'Zune' failed to install" and gives me error code 0x80004005. The 166mb package is not for vista 64bit, which i am on, which i just installed, so i cant install any zune software whatsoever. I am very frustrated, technical support is a joke, because they tell me to uninstall-reinstall-update, right AFTER i tell them that i have NO SOFTWARE TO UNINSTALL. This may drive me to another mp3 player that supports rockbox or something.

Robb Q

Very nice first and foremost, but..and there's always a but...

The software is a little to retard proof making it confusing even for a user who pretty much knows what he's doing.

Another big EHHH is the quality of the background image that you custom set has dropped dramatically crystal clear is now muddy eh.

swanlee

Well the software update destroyed my music library like it did a few others. Luckily there are a number of Zune forums so I was able to get it fixed and am now a happy camper.

After 1 year of b****** I finally have lossless support on the device and it is well worth it. Lossless sounds freakin wonderful so much better than any compressed music I've heard on my Zune.

I'm glad I did not buy the Zune80 as I would have been seriously pissed about the lack of EQ.

I'm happy the EQ stayed on my Zune30 after the update.

because of no EQ on the zune80 I will not be buying that and will instead upgrade the hard drive on my current zune to 100GB.

I was able to get 80 CD's in WMA lossless on the Zune30 so that will work for now.

I hope the Zune team learns a lesson from all of this though, DO NOT REMOVE FEATURES ON A NEW DEVICE OR NEW SOFTWARE UPGRADE!!!!1.

It has not bothered me to much as I'm in heaven with lossless support but seriously no matter how little you think a feature is used when you have 1 million users in the public you are going to piss off a lot of people when you remove features.

You guys should write that as a commandment for the zune Team. NEVER REMOVE FEATURES!!!

You guys removed the EQ from the new Zunes

You also removed sync compression options from the software whihc is bad.

Matt

Yo Cesar - WHY can't I access the Zune Originals site?

" ACCESS DENIED

Sorry, this site is currently unavailable from your location. Please visit Zune.net for the latest news and information. "

Come ON man, not only was I dying waiting for this for the past week, but I've been waiting for a year for a better Zune.

And why the **** is the Marketplace so slow?

inomine

It looks like the zune server farm could do with some more servers. The marketplace is slow, the social doesn't work half of the time and there are a couple of links in the Zune software which are just plain broken. I guess that you guys are going to fix most of these issues in the next couple of days, or at least I hope you are.

I need to restore my full library aswell, and with the service as it is now it takes a good 15 minutes to even get the first 1% of tracks that I've downloaded, nevermind downloading them.

Guess that you're victims of your own success ;)

MattJ

I'm so pleased you kept my favourite feature from teh 1st generation software 'Sorry, nothing useful about this software is available in your region, kindly live in America or we aren't willing to acknowledge your existence'

Chippy_boy

Like Dead Jim, this update has completely TRASHED my music collection.  I have 300 albums with tracks for the wrong artists all mixed up.

Its going to take me WEEKS to sort this MESS out.

Funny thing is, the collection is still all neat and tidy if I play from Windows Media Player!!!

I wonder what the hell is going on?

Sachin

First of all congrats for the v2.0 for us old folks. Now, to some issues :)..has anyone tried the v2.2 with the older zune dock (the one for 30gb models)? After the update, if you connect your dock to a music system, the output volume is terribly low; earlier there were separate volume up/down buttons on the dock remote for controlling the volume out for the docking station. The dial-pad (or whatever else it's called would only control the volume of earphone jack), the bottom two +/- buttons would control the volume from the dock, now both of them seem to perform the same function and only control the earphone jack volume. Please, tell me that I'm not the only one experiencing this low volume from the dock after the update!

Thanks!!

zomgelyse

I adore the new update.

All the new firmware on my 30- for free.

Wireless syncing? i'm in heaven.

Zunes rule.

Lnknprknblndsd

Have a Zune 30 and updating to new Zune software effed up my entire library just like it did to some others. forums.zune.net offers a solution but it didn't work for some people. Going to try it when I get home though. Just wanted to let whoever reads these that YES THIS IS A HUGE, ANNOYING PROBLEM THAT IS HAPPENING TO MANY MANY PEOPLE. Please start working on an update that includes the track info editor, fixes library mixing up bug, and makes the software hog less resources. Alright, the last one is just wishful thinking but the other two are completely legit.

jrshoem

I, too, got my entire library messed up. I edited the tags in Media Player. This worked for some of the stuff, not for all. I'll try the fixes mentioned here later today. I spent a long night trying to sort this out.

IndyLux

Sachin - I noticed that too, but the volume is now the same for the headphones and the dock output.  You need to crank the volume to 20 to get 100% output from the dock.

Larry

This sucks.  Unfortunately I did not see the warnings before I upgrded.  Messed up my entire music collection.  So I deleted the entire music collection and am trying to drag and drop from my library - but now I am finding that not all songs are copied over to the Zune.  Argh...

gwko

Fod those getting the messege that zune failed to install because the required componet zune failed to install and getting roll back error and getting redirected to the MS zunepackage site

check if u have ur windows firewall on...i no its dum but it worked for a few people

jimmy

East asian languages/unicode support would be nice. Features are useless if  songs cannot be displayed.

Someone

...Seriously wtf no offense i got the zune over the ipod in a heartbeat. have the 30 gig halo 3 one loved the old firmware loved the old gui. like evryone else library was thrown in a blender then cra**ed out. i hope you guys pick up the pace and make an update or give us classic ppl out here a way to revert back to the orginal firmware and gui.

Brown Cheer

I am very disapointed with the new software.  It is hard to navagate, and runs slowly.  I would also like to revert back to the old software.

I cannot find a tag editor.

The artwork isn't matching the albums, songs are showing up under albums that aren't even under the right artist.  I did the fix that I found on the forum, but that didn't solve the problem 100%.

The new program is pretty to look at, I will say that... but it has a lot of bugs.  I'd like to revert to the old software for awhile while these things are still being worked out.  Hey... it's not like the old software didn't have it's share of bugs too... I just know better how to dodge them.

zune crackalacking

yep... same problem, library messed up!

and i also had problems on XP to dowload it...

i had to use the vista computer...

:( pretty view,  incorrect info... oh and i can't fix it manually

Rafael

Hey Guys and Gals if you dislike the new software/Firmware some guy posted info on how to revert back to the software we all know and love.

http://www.zuneboards.com/content/view/176/2/

Jeff G

I too have just experienced the newest version of Zune software, released a day or two ago (November 2007). Although the screen appearance looks more sophisticated, this version has LESS flexibility. You cannot create playlists for videos, and even more to the point you cannot sort videos by size, artist, etc. In addition it scrambles all of the music information. On top of it all, correcting information is harder than ever. For a company associated with spreadsheets and databases I am amazed how bad this program is. Now I know why people buy iPods -- Apple knows how to design software.

Tyler

you all are complaining about little stuff, your titles, your artwork, hell my whole zune software was screwed. everything is a staticky mess and icant see what the hell im doing. and when i go to re downlad he new software, it says that i already have the latest version and i cant download it again. i dont want to erase it completley cause i dont wanna lose my music

Jon

This whole mess does little to inspire confidence in the Zune team...

Alex Angas

I'm really interested in getting a Zune over an iPod but then I found out there's no plugin API. That means there's no way that social music services like http://last.fm can keep track of what I listen to. I'm sure Zune Social is cool but last.fm is my place to be and it can record everything I listen to no matter where I am. This would be wonderful for a 2.x update - I don't want to wait to 3.x (or never)!

Thanks.

Marcus

I can't believe what a mess this "upgrade" is.

Why can't the software read my meta tags correctly?

I really feel like smashing this zune!

Ok...I first thought the new Update was garbage, but after playing with it a while i love it once I figured out how to fix my albums. I first had to erase everything off my Zune, resync. once it resynced there was about 20 ablums still screwed up, I then went to list...instead of browse view, right clicked on album title ..."choose column" select and add album artist... sort by album, rename Album artist to whoever the Main artist or the album name and it will fix those problems, all the different artist names will still display that is tied to Artist...not Album artist...try that and it should fix your problem...what has happened is that your tag has been renemed to where that song has orginally came from, like on most mixed cd's or cd's with many artists. and other question leave me a blog or send me a email....blackpearl2012003@yahoo.com (Super Zunehhead!!!!!)

Please give me back the old firmware.  My library is a mess.  I can't drop and drag.  There are a few nice features, but they do not make up for the mess mt library is in.  How can I revert to the original gui?  Please tell me I dont have to live with this.  I will buy an IPOD if I have no other options.  Thanks.

I downloaded the update for the software and now my computer wont recognize my zune.

Downloaded the new software update and am glad to hear that i'm not the only one whose 400 album library is so #@%^&$ up!!!! I can't even go in to use it because the static screen image of the icons and text disappear. Great update you idiots. Next time let the 10 people who own a Zune beta test it and put what we want in it. A patch better show up soon so we all can fix our hard earned efforts of album art and text edits. I Pod maybe on the horizon!!!

I really really really miss "get album info", why are so many things more of a hassle then before? I thought the idea here was to streamline. If I hadnt already seperated artist and album by folder manually it would of taken forever to fix my library. Just some feedback for the next update, maybe instead of getting rid of features all together you can just allow people to choose what they want displayed and what they don't. Cus I want a 5 star rating (there are different levels of like, gang) but I don't artist, album, and song all listed at the same time. And I do need 'find album info' and the ability to delete songs completely cus Im getting doubles and crap, and these songs I 'deleted' are being resynched the next time.

Same thing - new software made my collection FUBAR.  Seems like the problem is more pronounced with artists A-J and not so much with artists K-Z.  New software is pretty much worthless.

My zune 30 with the 2.2 upgrade worked great for a day, now any/all songs will not play - "The item is missing or cannot be played."

Spent an hour on the phone w/MS and got nowhere.  None of my playlists made it through the PC software upgrade and I'm really hesitant about deleting everyting on the device and starting over.  How do I submit an invoice for wating my time & $$?  Maybe I should make Mr. Gates do tomorrow's 8-hour road trip with the kids and no tunes.

alright, this update, good for looks, but i do agree w/ dead jim, this is so dumb.

i download my music, and i like to be organized w/ my music.

[ ie. Breaking Benjamin - Dance With The Devil ]

I had 1100 songs on my zune, it gave me some name troubles, so i got to edit the name of something, and now, all of the sudden, i have 1300 songs, nothing new, just the same exact song, 10 times in my library, this is by far one of the most unwanted updates available.

how do i receive my old version of zune, can i just reinstall it, then sync all my music from my device, or is it going to be FUBAR for the rest of the time that i have my zune? this is crap, honestly, don't even update if you download your own music, and want it in a certain order, b/c this will honestly fu*k it up well for you.

Upon first checking out the new Zune software -I was impressed. Until I faced the following, which I am still struggling with:

-Album art is mixed up. Example: Joan Osbourne artwork is replaced by Kanye West which is replaced Gwen Stefani which is replaced by Gnarls Barkley which is replaced by my artwork. Etc

-Artists Names not syncing. Example: I love S Club 7, but I did not make their music, and certainly Brandi Carlile did not make my music. There's no way to manually edit this.

-Playlist syncs. Example: I can't edit any playlists.

-Wireless not syncing. Wasn't this supposed to be the best part of the new Zune Software?

-Syncing in General. I followed the users guide in deleting the music and then reputing it in, but now the device sync isn't working. Nothing is going on to my Zune. I'm being told that over 500 of my songs, which worked fine before hand, will not sync to my zune.

All in all, I am not a happy camper.
