In the next few days, you’ll start to see posts on this site from a new member on the Zune team: Rob Greenlee. Rob’s the Podcast Programming & Marketing Lead for Zune. He’s worked on, like, a ton of podcasts in the past, and he’s going to be focusing on podcasting and Zune in his posts.

Rob also holds a Guinness World Record: he is the creator and builder of the “World’s Largest Glass of Orange Juice.”

Please join me in welcoming Rob to the Zuneinsider community!

<p.s.> I hold a Guinness record too. I was one of the organizers/participants of The World's Largest WaterBalloon Fight. I know what you're thinking though: there's no vitamin C in a Water Balloon. Rob FTW.

Well its nice to see you guys getting serious about the Podcasts. My Halo Zune felt obscure next to my brothers iPod Touch.

Welcome Rob! I have been holding back questions (podcasts being one of them) since Cesar gets enough of those. Cannot wait to hear what you have to say.

Thats interesting!! more contributors to the Zuneinsider, gr8!! hope he doesnt use "no comment on rumors" ;)

Welcome Rob!!

Big welcome to Rob. My understanding is that about 1000+ podcasts will be available thru Zune MarketPlace. If I'm a podcaster, how would I get my podcast listed in Zune MarketPlace? Any requirements podcasters need to be aware of? How are all of those podcasts categorized? Can users search for Tags? Look forward to your coming posts. Thanks

this sounds like good news for us podcast junkies.

does Rob plan to announce any new marketing ideas soon? I have really liked some of the flash ads and zune.com stuff recently.

Welcome Rob. I look forward to reading your contributions. When I first bought my Zune, I didn't listen to any podcasts, so the lack of full support wasn't an issue. Ironically, all the talk about the lack of support got me interested - I checked out a few, and now I'm hooked. The new software will be a very welcome change as I have yet to find a podcast client that I'm happy with.

Welcome Rob!

You know anything about firmware? Just kidding.

On a serious note, how about playlist-addressable cross-fade? I'm not sure if the MS gapless-playback people could get that feature in there at the same time, but that would be sweet for the next-gen of podcasting (pulling files from multiple file servers and assembling on the user end).

Welcome Rob..... Podcasts are good. I'm glad to have yourself and them aboard. Are you a gamer? If so, ante up the gamertag so I can show you my mad skills...just ask Cesar. Okay, okay...I'm not so good in Halo 3....but I try (:

Welcome Rob! I'm gonna beat your record some day!

Welcome to the Social, Rob :)

Good to have another blogger, that means more posts/more stuff to get excited about!

Very excited about the podcasting as well

i just got my new sandisk mp3 player. i would have bought a zune if they were in canada eh?

Rob,

Hello from Afghanistan and Welcome... look forward to seeing you here on the forum.

One thing, will the new zune software allow you to switch the older it downloads music to? You see, I have my music library on a second hard drive to save space on my windows drive. With the current software, I have to move all my songs over by hand instead of just changing the default folder. It gets pretty annoying sometimes.

can't wait for my twit heheh

Hey Ceasar, nice to see someone else joining the team. Hope to see more updates.

But is there any chance you can answer that question of mine from the previous news post? Or prod someone in the DRM team to write a post about it.

Thinking about it, it would be quite cool to have a weekly guest post, each from a different team member. Telling us what they do, how they view the future of the Zune, answer some community questions to do with their job. You could even be the one doing the interview ;)

I know it'll take some jumping through hoops to get them approved and setup, but as I say, would be awesome.

This is awesome, more new news! Gotta love Zune, and my friend just bought one. =) Converting the iPods to Zune's one at a time

any word yet on how many colours the new zunes can display?!

Welcome Rob Greenlee you are a cruitcal piece to what is the mass murder of the iPod line and we dig it that you are with us and the Zunes.

Welcome Rob!

Blogs is the biggest news for me regarding the new Zunes and upgrades. Will we get the option of having podcasts removed automatically from the device after they have been finished?

when will the info on the color depth be released? Is it still 64k or up to 256? This is the last detail I'm waiting on before preordering a zune 80 on Amazon...

Welcome from Canada! Looking forward to your first post, Rob.

Question for Cesar, will the Zune Social website eventually be part of Zune.net. I tend to think the "Social" on the update Zune device and Zune.net menus provide access to the same community.

hey..Rob...you are Welcomed!

But, what is your Zune color ?

Hi Mr. Rob!

Why can't we call them Zunecasts?

Here's a thought - how about a little podcast from you guys? :) Safe flight.

Congrats Rob! I anticipate this will mean a bigger Zune presence with podcasting :)

Thank you for your supportive comments. I am very excited to start blogging here about Zune's coming podcast support. Our new Zunes are coming very quickly and ready activities are ramping up very fast here as we all race to our November 13th release date. I have only been here working on Zune podcasting since October 1st and thus cannot take much credit for the Zune podcasting solution as most of it was built before I started here. Credit needs to be given to the large team here that has made it happen. It is a true win-win as early podcasters and myself have hoped for years that Microsoft would support podcasting. It will be great for podcast listeners and podcasters. Keep the comments and suggestions coming. Remember to submit your podcast to us through the new marketplacee on November 13th.

Sincerely,

Rob Greenlee

Zune Podcast Programming Lead

Rob, welcome aboard and Kudos to the team for the podcast support.

Video content is one of the most important features that will keep me from returning to the Dark side (a non-Zune product), and hopefully the video podcast availability will do the thing until further video content is available through Marketplace.

Now....get back to work already!

I am real happy that Microsoft picked up Rob Greenlee to be their Podcast Programming & Marketing Lead for Zune. Rob understands the podcasting space and was one of the original podcaster over at the Tech Podcast Network. While Rob’s...
