Lots of folks have asked me about podcasting, specifically "You'll be able to subscribe to any podcast just by entering the URL, right?" The answer is yes. From the Zune software, you'll be able to enter the URL of the podcast to subscribe to it. That is of course in addition to the 1000+ of the top audio and video podcasts available for free within ZMP.

And speaking of podcasts - our buddies at Zunecorps teamed up with Stefan at IWAPZ to launch the first edition of the Zune Community Netcast - check it out!

Sweet! I haven't gotten into the podcast thing yet, but maybe I will once I have a pretty Zune 80 in my pocket.

Thanks for the clarification Cesar!

Cesar, we've read in a few places that bookmarking in a podcast will be supported.  Can you tell me if the bookmarking function will be available in any audio file?  In other words, if I have a very long WMA file, will I be able to bookmark within it?

Thanks for all the great info! I'm looking forward to mid-November!

Can you bookmark non-podcasts: like audio MP3 books?

Shameless plug for the podcasts I currently listen to.

1.Buzz Out Loud <--Daily Tech News

2.This Week In Tech (Twit)<--Weekly Tech News

3.Major Nelson's Weekly Xbox Podcast

4.Bungie Podcast (great info about Halo 3)

5.Diggnation (Video Podcast about the most popular stories on Digg)

6. Totally Rad Show (Video Podcast featuring Movie, TV, and Game reviews)

7.Mars Hill Church Sermons ( great RSS feed of the sermons for Mars Hill Church )

yeah I am a bit of a podcast junkie, I rarely have time for real music with all the daily and weekly podcasts I consume.

By chance might we see the Halo 3 soundtrack make an appearance on Zune Marketplace?

Battery life ?

Call China and ask for battery life already.

Will it natively play .m4v video podcasts without conversion?

Ricardo, i might just call Microsoft and ask them that. Maybe i'll get an answer... =)

just a question

the Zune 80 will download the podcast on the pc and then move it to the Zune or download it directly in the zune, and if it downloads directly, when it upgrades, it is going to be replaced or the old and new will be togheter

When is all this stuff coming out?

hey Cesar on the main menu the "Social" is that for the new network thats going to go live.

Hey,

Saw that you mentioned my blog! Just letting you know I very recently changed URLs to http://dancehallhips.wordpress.com. This URL change won't effect the linkback, but for future reference...just an FYI. Thanks a ton!

Great, thanks for the clarification Cesar.

I think that it would be awesome if you could download podcasts directly to the zune from a wireless network, then, when you are traveling, you can keep up with your fave podcast.

davidMex... nothing automatically downloads through Zunes. Everything is tag by the Zune software on your computer then sync'd to your device.

The real question will be how the Zune software manages the podcast subscriptions. Here's hoping you can tag them and the the software will periodically check for an update and automatically download it.

quote(davidMEX):

"if it downloads directly, when it upgrades, it is going to be replaced or the old and new will be togheter"

This is my question too. Is there a setting on the Zune player to automatically delete the old podcast when it downloads the new one? This would be a great feature, and almost necessary for the lower capacity flash models. You can imagine how fast 4 GB would fill up with auto syncing if the old ones are not deleted.

How come my songs keep making copies of themselves on my Zune o.O

Question: Will I be able to export my podcast list to a.xml file. I use this feature for my "zencasts". It's nice to be able to backup my podcast directories. Thanks Cesar.

Just wanted to say that I opened up the internet yesterday and lo and behold on Yahoo the new Zune was staring me in the face.  Very cool

After reading about Universal's "Total Music"...I was wondering, is this something different than Zune Pass?  Will this affect Zune's offering?  Is there another announcement that you Zune folks have been delaying?  From the sounds of it, Zune would need to be labelled a "Total Music" compatible device.

TotalMusic sounds like a plan to make sure independent artists never get paid again...better named "TotalControl" for the majors.

Woody, your podcast list is identical to mine, but i have mosaic.org/podcast too! :)

Hey, I have a Zune podcast as well. Check it out at my site: www.zune-life.com.au

I am also planning to do a video podcast as well.

hello,

You must improve podcasting and wifi sync beyond local network. The following specification should be looked at:

Allow a zune to connect from anywhere to the following sources:

- your media center

- your xbox

- skydrive

it should pass nat routers....

This would be great and put ms out of reach of the ipod....

keep up the good work

How can I delete unwanted podcasts episodes and keep wanted podcast episodes from the same NPR show?

Hi,

I might be missing something but the podcasts I've played seem to get re-synced as new podcasts rather than deleted from the Zune/PC.

A "delete this" option on the player for podcasts or music would be excellent.
