Hope everybody had a great weekend! You may have seen this on Zune.net but I thought I'd highlight: some folks on the Zune team are competing in the Redbull Soapbox Derby this weekend here in sunny Seattle. Here's a concept image of the car:

Apparently the Zune pit on the track is designed to look like the Zune box - I'll see if I can track down images for that, too.  Edit Tuesday AM: Check the image of the Zune pit:

That looks awesome. I'm liking these Redbull competitions.

Oh, and can I request that all the usual suspects stay quiet just for ONE post? It's getting really annoying. Yes, a firmware update would be awesome, but I'm sure Cesar's waiting til he's good and damn ready before saying anything. Just this one post, please?!?

Neat, now we need a Zune car like we had the Halo 3 Car suffer from the Red Rings of Death. Make sure the Zune car can only end in 3rd place or make 3 cycles aroudn the track, whichever comes first.

sorry Adam, after 10 months some of us can stay quiet no longer and are forced to try to annoy the easiest of zune team members to get a hold of Cesar, i say screw the zune car and work on updating the device, or getting the second gen out the door.

firmware update

That looks pretty cool Cesar...

Met knows what he/she's talking about. And he knows you do too.

firmware update

<trolling>

This blog reminds me of a line in the movie "Jurassic Park"

"There are Dinosaurs on this Dinosaur tour right ???

Hello??? (knock knock)"

Haha, you know what I just noticed Cesar? IF and when the Zune gets a clock. I'm pretty sure its gonna be all over Engadget and Gizmondo since its such a big deal most people. That is lulzy

yea im giving up on checking for firmware news that wont come anytime soon

<trolling>

A "Tour Bus" SoapBox car has got to make you smile.  Hope it seats an adult because I want to take a ride.

Cool car. Also, to those impatient among us, Awesome takes time, and all will be revealed soon enough.

I always see the commercials for the RedBull soapbox derby (and other RedBull sports) and they look so cool!

I wonder what the other mp3 companies' cars look like?  Apple?  SanDisk?  Sony?

<trolling>

I suggest everyone stop even posting anything about the firmware update that they so badly want.  It is obviously a waste of time.  They will annouce something when they want or they would have done so by now.  I know it stinks but after months of reading just "firmware update please" or the like everything is just getting old, so very old.  Its not a defense of the lack of info its a beaten down dog that doesn't even lift its head.

ey, are these cars motor based or what ?

I wonder if the car will have updated firmware before my Zune....;)

maybe the firmware is inside the car...! :P i bet if that car crashed...like, all this firmware will be all over the place!

for serious!

Yeah and usually after 3000 miles, the firmware needs to be changed. And after 5000 miles, the firware should be rotated and checked for proper pressure.

That's cool. I'm not a big fan of Redbull, though. I was involved with a university student council last year and we had some unpleasent experiences when Redbull tried to put on one of these races on campus without any approval and use us as cover.

And I'm with Adam. I know it's frustrating for Zune owners right now, but do you seriously think the Zune team isn't working on updates as we speak? Cesar (and the rest of the Zune team) knows how you all feel, so at least attempt to stay on topic instead of just saying "Firmware, please."

"Firmware, pretty please"

I understand being frusrated over the firmware update posts, but it is a little ridiculous that it has taken this long. I remember when I had an ipod video, the firmware was updated every couple months. My Zune is still new, and able to be taken back, and the ipod touch is looking good to me...

I bet Amazon is working on an AmazonMP3 derby car.

Oh, I'm sure the Zune team IS working on an update. And that's fine. I just wish they'd put them out more often. Small and regular is better than big and rare.
