Woot! Discussing the new Zune hopefully, wow two updates in one day, that's new

zunetoday

I for one am glad you guys wait until after the apple announcement to announce zune 2.

let the commotion die down a bit and show us what you got.

don't dissapoint us microsoft!

Dragod

I trust you, Cesar. Don't let us down, and don't leave us early adopters out in the cold, kinda like iPhone users were with a $200 price drop.

John West

Cesar,

I am one of the guys that posted back at the beginning of the year, stating that I was happy with my Zune, but also lamenting that certain, seemingly basic, features hadn't been implemented.  Things such as podcast support, a clock, sync over wifi, etc.

Well, now my Zune pretty much sits on my office desk, unused.  I use my phone for podcasts, and I'm tired of having to sync with my laptop just to keep my paid-for subscription music from expiring.

I'm very disappointed.  Maybe the Zune 2 will have all of the features I want, maybe not.  But with the new ipods, you've lost your differentiators (well, except for maybe fm radio).

What is wrong with Microsoft these days?  They've lost all sense of innovation.  They're so focused on the business market, which is admittedly their cash cow, that they neglect everything else.  How could they take such a promising product as the Zune...

AND DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO IMPROVE IT FOR A YEAR???

It boggles my mind.

Anyway, it's not your fault, but regardless of fault, MS has lost the mindshare of the current generation of users today who will be IT managers and CIOs tomorrow.  They should remember that 10-15 years from now when they're the Novell of the world, and the new IT executives of the world are using Apples or Linux for desktops, Linux for servers, and open source for everything.  Now maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but I think you get the point.  Microsoft needs to innovate with consumers now, with products such as the Zune, the 360, and... well... well, with consumer products, so that they can regain mindshare and compete with Apple and others.

John

Dave

Bill Gates needs to come back and work 100 hour weeks again. Microsoft just isn't the same without him in the lead.

Naris

Not to be a cynic or anything but he only said he'd be at the annual meeting.  For all we know they could just be going over numbers and figures.

I do however hope for good news on Friday.  After all, Apple did just make a major announcement, and frankly I think the Zune's a bit overdue in improving.

Personally I would like to have that sweet 160 GB HDD in my Zune...

Chris Scott

Hey John West,

I completly agree with what you said.  I've been waiting since November of last year for them to do something!  I mean, i thought that a big company like microsoft would give some kind of competition, but no, I was forced to buy a Zen to make up for the lack of features of the zune that i've been patiently waiting for microsoft to at least come out with features that are equal to other players out in the market now, (podcast, audobook).

Anyway, its sad to say.. well for microsoft it is.. that i sold my zune and zen on friday for 275 to save up for the new ipod that was expected to come out today... and it did, and they are great!  I really wanted the zune to succeed and i thought it would be my ipod killer... but it hasn't even been half that..

If anything i'm sad for a company like microsoft to provide so much promise.... and almost a year later not deliver in any way or form... except for some bug fixes and maybe some performance enhancements.

I still subscribe to the rss feed here in hopes that maybe they can come up with anything half as good as the new ipods.

Zoa 342

I'm listening to my Zune right now, God i love it, please don't disapoint us, even if's a realease date or a discussion about the Zune.

-Matthew

Zoa 342

Bill Gates is getting a degree at Harvard. I wish he was to work on the Zune. He was a great influence on Microsoft. He will be missed.

Ricardo Dawkins

Zune Team...forget about the shuffle and the i_Touch

Attack the nano and the classic...HARD! that is your target.

Make a flash zune with a screen form factor of 16:9 keep the Wifi add capacity and competitive price...and pound them hard!

Zune 2: attack the i_pod classic...add widescreen and better resolution (can battle the i_touch, too) ...try to match capacity...keep wifi...fm..try to add competitive prices and pound the low end classic hard...keep pounding 'til the high end replaces it.

Watch out for an i_touch nano...if they release it w/o you having an flash based widescreen zune....you are TOAST!

Crystal3

It's amazing how my comments never show up.

T

OMG...  This has been a very bad day for the Zune team.  The boards are filled with very unhappy Zune owners right now.  I have to admit that I'm stunned that this had played out this way.  I will be jumping ship the end of the month if there are no amazing firmware updates.  I want podcast support, videos on the market place, new codec support, a clock with sleep timer, games, and a playlist creator on the Zune itself.  These things would keep me.  I will likely bail for the ipod touch.  I hope the Zune team is ready to impress or loose all the gains they made in a very short time.  Most early adopters like the latest and greatest.  Ipod just took that title from you all.  :(

Neurothustra

It's very disappointing that the Zune team just fell off the face of the earth. Maybe instead of new colors to promote the device we could have seen actual software updates that meant something instead of invisible "improvements" that may or may not have sped up performance or optimized shuffling - things that are far less of a concern to early adopters than, say, actually putting that wifi to good use. Even some podcasting support would have lifted spirits, but after a year we didn't even get that.

Sorry but I don't consider weekly friday posts of music any kind of news. It's promotion. Than again, this "blog" is authored by a member of the marketing team. I'm disgruntled, and reminded of the words of Johhny Rotten:"Anybody ever get the feeling you been cheated?"

Steven Smith - Mszunefan

I personally am trying my hardest to get the Zune name out there and in my own head would like to think I have helped a little with my tattoos.  I will be getting three more all of which are zune related, the next in line "welcome the social" tattooed across my back.  The one thing that I am stumbling into is the fact I have no info to tell people about the new Zunes.  I just need some info I am not asking for a lot maybe the color choices and HD sizes.  Also the wifi abilities.  Other than that I am pushing the old Zunes like mad and have converted a ton of people (over 40) to the Zune so lets keep the trend going.

Eddie

Ricardo has a point. I wouldnt mind if we were missing on that one small feature (touch screen). As long as we got the other features it has too. A nano Zune with touch screen would be nice too. Make it like the iphone for the sake of having a large screen. I doubt you guuys would do that since you already have plans but..just a suggestion.

Adam K

Zoa: He isn't getting a degree, he already got one (at last graduation). Alright, fine, it was an honorary degree, but all the local newspapers (I live in Cambridge) were blaring all about "the Richest Man finally graduating".

Do us proud, Cesar.

Kevin

Cesar,

I have never posted on this blog but after Apple basically announced zune's impending doom today, I feel that its time to speak my mind.  The zune team/microsoft has really dropped the ball.  Really, i am extremely disappointed.

Zune was the media player that started with the ideas of wifi and connectivity.  There was infinite potential in combining those ideas.  Zune also had a larger screen than its juggernaut competitor which generated a lot of buzz.  Zune also had the opportunity to utilize the microsoft/xbox live community (which was already in place at zunes creation) and the excitement and support of a community that was willing to give something other than the ipod a try and that community stayed very loyal and had faith in zunes capabilites and its potential despite constant disappointment.  they checked in on this insider blog and others everyday to have their faith in a product and idea everyone else had given up on vindicated.

alas, even with all these advantages, the zune has become nothing if not a disappointment.  the zune drm killed the idea of connectivity or a "social".  zune knew this but did not increase functionality or expand the capabilities of the wifi.  now we see that there was, indeed, infinite potential in wifi... apple just utilized it and took zunes biggest (only only) advantage.  the new ipod lets you surf the web for goodness sakes and zune couldnt even wirelessly sync with its computer?!  further, the large screen became a total "who cares" when there wasnt even a way to buy video on the marketplace so the screen merely took up battery life and made the player bulky (btw, the new ipod is WAY thinner and has a bigger screen).

as far as all the other problems, which god and everyone else knows exist because all the review sites and blogs have made very clear the zunes short comings, very few if any have been addressed and the dedicated community i mentioned before has been kept in the dark the whole time.  they wanted to know about fixes, firmware, podcast support, a clock (come on!), video on marketplace, new wifi features, etc. but all we got was "steady as she goes" or "we cant comment but we are dedicated to improving the zune expereience".

well, a year later, here we are.  now the ipod touch is everything the zune could and should have been.  wifi, connectivity, and a large screen with 5x's the zunes storage space for a pretty decent price.  i have always considered myself a microsoft warrior and loyalist but at a certain point, you have to say "they dropped the ball and there is a better product available".

i hope you take these and the many other  thoughts and concerns that have been expressed here on zuneinsider by this community to the rest of the team and you guys get to work on a product and service that is truely worthy of the "ipod killer" moniker.

bruth-man

Caesar please speak the truth at that meeting tomorrow on just how much Zune needs a resuscitation. It would be a shame for Zune to become a running joke in mp3 history, it has so much potential.

I bet MS didn't expect iPod to do WiFi like it did?

Matt

To be honest I am inclined to agree with John West here, I'm extremely disappointed in the support and the innovation with a prodcut I had very high hopes for.  It's been out nearly a year and still no Podcast support?  really?

Not a single mention of upcoming events or Zune innovations.  really?

Seriously, a year with no significant improvements is just inexcusable and, I'm sorry to say, pathetic.  I am going to hold off replacing my MP3 player until my Canadian holiday in Feb, I really hope you guys have something awesome in the pipeline because it's going to take an awful lot to warm up the majority of us who feel completely let down and out in the cold.

Matt

Just an addendum - I wasn't making a personal attack here, I kow Cesar is just doing his job, it's the people in charge of this project that need a kick up the arse.

Chris

i still cant believe microsoft didnt pull attention away from apple with a big announcement a few hours before the apple thing.

Wheres my darn 120gb Zune 2, ultra thin with full-front 4" touchscreen, and a2dp bluetooth and wifi store?

And on top of that where the heck is the mac software? And where is the podcast support? and wheres the v1 wifi store?

Guys im a dedicated microsoft fanboy lol but you guys are letting me down i bought a zune and have been waiting for the software upgrades and support for mac since i have one at my office, so come on hook us up ... hell i was ready to buy a zune 2 and give my zune 1 to my brother .... but i really really invision something spectacular out of microsoft, we already know that apple dropped the ball on the ipod touch due to the limited flash storage, ya its sexy and slim but most people wont get it because they already have over 40gb of info, and im sorry 12gb is great but if people are b*tching about space on a 80gb, and the touch was supposed to be apples new "video ipod" their insane to release it at 12gb.

so lets see how about a zune 2 with the above mentioned specs, software releases and firmware to match the above requests... and another zune 2 thats ultra thin (7.5mm ;)) also 4" screen, with the usual microsoft sexy interface and walla the world will be happy.

chris

well while i agree with what was said above and what i said before, i gotta ppoint out the touch doesnt have 5x the storage the classic does, the touch's one downfall is that its only 12gb which is shameful for a 3.5" advanced media player.

Oh and ya i forgot to remember to suggest, the Zune 2 both need to come with copies of deepfish since its been sitting in microsoft research.... FOREVER, but most importantly ITS ABOUT TIME THAT MICROSOFT COMBINE THE XBLVM and the ZUNE MARKETPLACE, after a year these platforms should be a unified entity!

Kevin

my bad.  i did get the storage space mixed up.  and i hope you dont take this as a personal attack cesar.  i tried to make it very clear the team and project have failed.  you have been great.

Gaurdian

My suggestions:

Unlock the zunes features: more codecs with or without converting, more wifi things, time, alarm clock, games, podcast, audiobooks and all you can. That way you can keep up with the ipod. Now while all first adopters are a little statisfied do surveys, let people make lists of what they want to have on a new zune, then work your ass of to get it done quick but take enough time to make it real good. Leak a image and see the responses of people. If they are statisfied, go for it and use the new 2.0 software for the old zune as well. If you need more ideas, contact me @ tha_brute@hotmail.com

mazola

Big decisions will be made at this meeting concerning next year:

BBQs or clambakes?

Chip

I have friend who is an intern at "The Late Show" and he says the writers have a list of "dumb" stuff -- or things that can just be thrown into any joke to get a laugh. Like:

Buzz Aldrin, Bonnie Franklin, chia pet, etc.

Also on the list: the Zune.

Up until yesterday I would have disagreed.

Eric

This would be the "Oh @#$%! the iPod Touch" meeting

Stu

Please give me a reason not to buy an iPod!!! I really don't want to be an iSheep... Tell me you will support bookmarking on MP3s and podcasting. I like audio books and podcasts; so these are key factors in buying my next mp3 player.

So please... give me a reason not to buy the iPod (classic).

Kevin

The 16 gig ipod touch has plenty of room on it. I currently have an 8 gig iphone with 4 movies, 3 one hour tv shows, 2 1/2 hour tv shows, 4 audio books, 12 podcasts, 500 songs, and 95 photos on it. If I want a new movie, a different song playlist, or different podcasts, all it takes is a simple click on the checkboxes, sync (I sync every night when I charge it anyway) and I'm good to go.

I was a little worried about 8 gig since I was used to my 30 gig video ipod, but it's a non-issue now. I LOVE my iphone!

Zuneless

Stu said:

"I really don't want to be an iSheep..."

How about not being any kind of sheep, and buying the device that's *right for you*? Why worry about what others are doing?

Struggling for non-conformity is no different from unquestioning confirmity.

Think for yourself, evaluate all your options, and buy the device that does the job you're expecting it to do with minimal fuss.

What if the Zune had sold 110 million units, and Apple had just released the iPod? Would you be saying, "I don't want to be a ZuneSheep?"

S

I sure hope the company meeting is about a gigantic leap in advancement of the Zune platform. Bring that "B-" of the current generation up to an A-, at the very least and take it all the way to A+ with the next generation.

Once I heard news about the iPod touch, I immediately checked the Zune channels for some explosive retaliation. Yet, it is quite quiet, as it has been for some time. I cannot imagine how it was possible to come up with the Zune and take it from the drawing board to market in the span of one year but not have significant software improvements in the same amount of time since release.

Please, stop exclusively promoting music from unheard of artists. No more BBQ. No more Zune bus. At least none of that until there's something tangible for ALL Zune supporters and prospective customers. It's great that y'all want the "alternative" image, but please back it up with some substance. Reasonable people pay $300 for a device, not some marketing that has no effect on the majority.

Despite the iPod touch's sweet hardware, it doesn't seem rugged enough. I'd be scare to scratch it up because it seems like something that should remain sitting on a desk.  But if I could afford to replace that thing every few months, then I guess that's the superior product choice.

To other people here, please, no games. Games are ridiculous. That's what a DS or PSP is for. Who gives about a music quiz or some stupid 2D blocky games that are reminiscent of the ones on graphing calculators.

And those complaining about syncing in order to keep the subscription music working, well, what do you expect? Every single subscription model works this way. Do you really expect them to allow people to spend $15 for one month, download tens of thousands of songs, cancel, and keep it forever? What's so hard about syncing it once a month (I assume that the Zune is similar to PlaysForSure) to keep it active? That's the point of a subscription. Right? So that you can keep adding a ton of new songs periodically?

Here's my 2 cents.

Current Zune: Excellent software. Expansive marketplace (music, wallpaper, TV shows, movies). Maybe a $5/mo subscription model for college students with a Zune. WiFi store. WiFi syncing with a computer. Other WiFi uses at retail places like those seen on the SURFACE demonstrations. (I still can't believe that you guys just let them rip off the WiFi idea like that. That's what the Starbucks thing practically is.)

Zune 2: All of the above with excellent -- modern, sleek, thin & light, elegant, durable -- hardware to match. And topping it off with a   competitive price.

Ahhh.. one can dream.

MN Zuning

Well, with comments already derailed and focusing on the "impending doom" of the Zune, I'll toss in my two bits.

Recently a MS executive said she'd give the Zune a B-. The question now is does MS plan to invest what is necessary in the product line to raise it to A+ level. They are certainly capable both economically and innovation wise (the Surface project for example).

The problem is that MS has a fairly poor track record when it comes to comsumer electronics. Gone is the Sidewinder devision, the XBox continues to operate in the red. While I really hope to see the Zune succeed, I'm also becoming increasing concerned that MS will end up abadoning the project in the next 12-24 months.

There's alot of potential here. Integrate the Live and Zune Marketplaces, offer video and music on both through a single. Allow wireless connectivity between the Zune and WiFi networks, PC's (even if I have to buy a desktop puck for it), and the X360. Release quarterly updates with at least bi-annual feature upgrades. Allow for 3rd party software development.

Please don't let such a great foundation go to waste.

Zoa 342

Take advantage that the new Nano is the uglyest thing out there! Make a flash player that's way cooler and has more features and a bigger screen. Common! I cannot wait till tomorrows news.

Dave

I run an indie label, Apple has done magnificently  well for us and has given us even greater hopes for the future....they also have the hot brands locked up. YouTube for video, Starbucks  etc.

For years I've been waiting/hoping for Microsoft to bring this all together.  Starting with WebTV.

I'm very surprised to see Apple running away with tech integrated entertainment.

Microsoft understood integration when they began to bundle software into suites...but right now the consumer strategy seems completely disintegrated.

To make matters worse for us, Musicnet your music provider for Zune no longer accepts submissions from indie labels so at the  moment we can't even get new content into the Zune Marketplace.  On top of that you are paying Universal a royalty for each Zune..and the indies get nothing?? what a mess.

Orng

Psst... Apple is awarding the early iPhone adopters with a $100 store credit to make up for the price drop.

Adam K

Taking a break from all this depressing news, I wanted to announce that my Zune from Club Live just arrived!

It's black and it's beautiful. Thank you guys!

Archipkl

Fool me once.......

Chip

Talk about great PR.

Microsoft should do this to all of us who bought a Zune:

http://www.apple.com/hotnews/openiphoneletter/

Vic

Hey Cesar there are 180ish comments on the past three posts - most of them with some serious questions [and seriously negative feedback]... how about some sort of response?

Zoa 342

He's at the meeting, there's no posts today, Wait till tomorrow for killer news i hope, i bet there all watching us post and seeing what they can do and integrate into the zune, Also don't forget, They built a Zune factory right next to the Xbox 360 factory, that's gotta mean something.

Diego

Hi Cesar, represent the Zune community well in the MS meeting! I don't know why so many people are exaggerating about this new ipoo lineup, but I'm still happy with what the Zune currently offers. The current Zune just needs some features added to it, many of which can be done with firmware updates.

I hope you'll be able to give us some insight over the topics discussed in the meeting, because we'll be waiting anxiously for Zune news.

Kevin

Cesar,

I second Vic's idea.  We want feedback from an insider blog.  We are here to get news and help you guys improve your product.  How about some back and forth?

Ron

Apple ripped off early adopters for $600 two months ago... lowering it $200 yesterday.  Zune was lowered $50 in 10 months, which is typical.

That was Apple's necessary damage control.  $100 credit, to buy more Apple stuff.

Phil

How about a Zune OUTSIDE of the USA. I live one BLOCK from Microsoft Canada, and I bet they all have Zunes in there! I want a Zune soooo bad!

Chris

"The 16 gig ipod touch has plenty of room on it. I currently have an 8 gig iphone with 4 movies, 3 one hour tv shows, 2 1/2 hour tv shows, 4 audio books, 12 podcasts, 500 songs, and 95 photos on it. YA but thats you, you have less stuff theirs people with 80-100 gigs fo stuff they want to have with them at all times.....

you run into the other issue with the touch however, why buy a touch for 299 when the iphone is 399 lol and you get a new phone

Christian F

Steve Ballmer is OK but not as CEO.

Please, Bill Gates don't leave Microsoft in 08. COME BACK AS CEO.

Greetings from Italy

Sorry for my bad english

Zoa 342

Oh, and most people at Bungie.net think the new "iTouchy" is stupid. I'm trying to recruit as many Zunians as i can.

Zoa 342

I bet we'll see awsome news tomorrow. Thanks Zune team, hope you got the message across that Zune needs to be updated.

zunetoday

I was thinking surely Microsoft has exciting products coming out.  Even if the Zune 2,0 looked like the pictures Gizmodo featured:

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/portable-media/first-zune-2-and-zune-flash-shots-295284.php

_AND_ they were marketed properly they could easily take a good share of market from Apple's ugly new Nano fattys and Classic series. Those are both so tired and lame.

Sure not as feature filled as touch but who wants to have to turn on, look at and adjust an MP3 player every time they want to adjust colume or skip a track.  Personally I would not want a touch screen.

Kevin

Chris -

FYI I have 127 gig of movies, songs, etc.

Still not an issue.

Woody56292

after seeing the new ipods, I have faith in MS and the Zune team to beat Apple now that they have slipped ( and in my opinion, made a terrible mistake with their new line )

Their nanos were amazing, they didn't have to change them. they should of kept the "classic" nano shape, and just lowered the scroll wheel and made the screen bigger.

the new ui is horrible, and still light years behind zune's interface and custom backgrounds.

finally the "classic ipods" should be called the outdated ipods. that design and screen size is horrible, and although the anodized design is great, the left on the scratchable metal backing!!! they even put it *back* on the nano. That is pure greed, they only do that so people will buy cases. my zune has never had a case, and has no scratches on the outside, and only 1  small scratch on the screen ( put it in with my car keys by accident )

as for the touch, thanks for giving me a 3.5 inch screen with only 16gb.... I can understand that for a phone, but for a media player, a harddrive should of been used on a screen that size.

looking forward to some great zune news to blow apple out of the water this week.

matt

When is the Zune team going to release new firmware with an internet browser that works over wifi? Now that the new apple ipod touch has one, and much better battery life, I think there will be a lot of people switching over unless you microsoft people do something. How about leaking some source code or something to make it hackable. LMAO.

Chris

lol i guess it depends onthe person, personally i hate syncing, i'd rather have all 120 gigs with me at all times than hot swapping my currently needed 8-16, and like i said in that case theirs the iphone...

ANYWAYS, MICROSOFT: GOOD NEWS!!! Apple just gave you guys a window!

They've announced that the bluetooth a2dp is NOT going to be available on the touch! So come on strap that darn bluetooth and some very sexy bluetooth headphones in with the zune2, make it the first 4" touch screen, wifi enabled with store, 30gb+ with bluetooth earphones stock MUHAHAHAHAHA Not to mention combining the 360 and Zune marketplaces, and releasing the firmware upgrades across the board for podcasting, codecs, etc that people have been begging for for over a year.

Chris

also with itunes loosing nbc and possibly others bringing the XBLVM to the zune would be a great move, and if they can perhaps in the long run tie it into mediacenters directly

Stu

Zuneless,

Please don't think you know me or understand my reasons for not wanting an iPod. I wrote maybe 50 words and you seem to think you understand my wants, desires and my level of conformity to society.... So great sage, since you apparently know me so well, why don't you tell me what my concentration should be for my MBA?

If you must know, I don't like the smallish screen on the iPod and the “ultra thin” case. Call me crazy, but I am 6’4 and tiny thin things don’t really fit in my hands. What I want is a larger screen about the size of the Zune’, audible, podcasts and storage space (iPod has/Zune doesn’t)... If MS can not supply that then I am pretty much forced to go with an iPod for long flights, both domestic and overseas.

One last note; 85% of society are sheep, 15% are wolves. 70% of the MP3 market is owned by the iPod. Do the math……

Eddie

Kevin -

Oh sweet piracy.

Mark

@kevin: ya... most people want to be freely able to choose any song or movie they want when they want it. I would hate having to wait till i get home and can re-sync my player to listen to a certain song, especially when the player costs that much and has that limited of features as the iphone has

kevin

strike that, I just looked again...it's 262 gig of media (music, tv shows, podcasts, audio books, and movies)

Matt

I thnik what is really telling here is the nhumber of us who less than a year ago were incredibly loyal to the Zune.  Some because they thought the device and software was already amazing (a flawed view IMO) but also those of us who saw the immense potential of the device and the iPod flaws it could exploit.

Instead nothing has been done for 12 months.  NOTHING!  Apart from an awful lot of arty advertising - which is an awesome effort because there is virtually no product to market.  All of this 'we are doing stuff, just wait and see' talk is fine when you have a proven record for this, people have an expectation based on previous experience.  It can even work for a couple  months on a new prodcut when people see that the product is backed by an enormous company like MS.  but to say that for a whole year whilst producing absolutely NOTHING is, well......

Look.  I was posting on here last year chomping at the bit abnout this product, i was enthusiastic about it and picked one up when on vacation in Pittsburgh.  I think we've all had enough now though.

If you have nothing coming, tell us.  if you do, at least give us something!  Otehrwise what the hell is the point of this blog?  I'm sorry to be so aggressive Cesar but it seems to me that you were allowed to tell us more last year and over the last 6-8 months you've pretty much been told to tell people absolutely nothing of any substance.  Again I appreciate that you have to reveal only what you are told, but this whole blog appears to be a wate of everyone's time - especially yours!  You can tell us about what cool new tunes your into on a personal blog, most of us come here in the hope of some Zune news.

Sorry, I really am!  i know you're taking the brunt of the disillusionment from us all but where else can we try and feedback to this mysterious Zune team?

Zuneless

Chris said:

"They've announced that the bluetooth a2dp is NOT going to be available on the touch!"

So, the question then becomes *why* isn't Apple supporting A2DP.

I've seen that not many devices include support. Does it require too much power? Is it not a well formalized profile?

I'd love to see support, too.

Zuneless

comments removed. don't forget my rule about insulting other users :)

jay

Can MS please add mass storage support so I can buy a Zune to use with my Mac. Not every Mac user thinks the iPods are great ya know. I'm sick of them. I spent 4 years replacing those piece of **** as a Mac Genius. What was released this week is just more of the same crap.

Dave

@Stu

Microsoft has greater than %80 OS market share.  Put that in your model.

admin

Dave, this is a blog about site about Zune - go ahead and take the tired mac vs pc debate elsewhere. further comments to that topic will be moderated.

Kano

Hey Cesar, Did you print out a transcript of these comments for your meeting yesterday? Does J even listens to what users want? Will I get a $25 rebate on my Zune if I just bought it 2 months ago?

segadc

How was the meeting Cesar?  Can't wait for some free music today! :)

Paul

I notice everyone talking about Zune gen. 2.  Unfortunately, I bought a Zune 1.  The promise was that MS would update because of the great hardware that could be adapted easilly.  Well, if I have to wait until Zune gen 2, I will not be getting a Zune next time   Burn me once, shame on you.  Burn me twice, shame on me.

I hope you have a rabbit to pull out of your hat.

(For the record, I will not be getting an iPod in the future, either.  They are all hype  and others do what they do much better).

Dragod

I love how everyone acts like "I want every feature to be how I want it, and I want them all in a week."

I think people think that you guys can just say "Hey, that'd be neat-o" and it's added. You guys are doing something, and I know you read these Cesar, so here's an idea how to open up the wireless, without making it Pirate-friendly.

I've been thinking about it for a while, and I was thinking it'd be a great to change the Wireless song sending to a wireless guest sync type of thing. The same way if I go over to my friends house and want a song, I just plug in and get the song, but I can't take the song and put it on my Computer at home. It's not much different to walk up to a friend and ask for a song, than it is to go to their house and ask to sync on their computers.

I think it'd work well, but I don't know about all of the laws and stuff you guys have to deal with, but if I were working on it, I'd be trying to get that done.

Matt

To be honest Dragod, any hope I had for features dies long ago, I'll settle for something vaguely approaching some actuall inforamtion at this stage.

Microsoft Warrior

I just want one device that does it all.

AND I WANT TO SEE THE ALBUM COVER FULLSCREEN.

It seems like a no brainer. Is that too much to ask?
