Subject: zune cake

Today we (the Zune team) received a cake from a member of the Zune community – Stefan at I Want a Pink Zune dot com. Stefan ordered the cake from Mike’s amazing cakes:

The caption reads:

From all the Zune fans

and I want a PINK Zune dot com,

keep up the great work.

We are eagerly awaiting

the next Zune

If you want to have a look at it – it’s downstairs in the atrium – I’ll cut it up in about 5 minutes (first come first serve).

Thanks and go Zune –

Cesar

All I can say is wow. Here's a picture of me holding the cake. I didn't even know it was coming; but I did wear my IWAPZ.com shirt today. Fortuitous

After sending that email, the cake was gone in about 10 minutes.

Much love, IWAPZ, and much love, Mike's Amazing Cakes.

looks as a standard Zune box...ey

BTW, I want a piece of it. thanks.

I'll second that, I want a piece.

If you share the cake with your coworkers, are they limited to three bites or three days in the fridge, whichever comes first?

Looks good!

Happy Cake Day

Ivan

Wow, that looks delicious! I'm guessing it was a chocolate cake, with some orange colored icing. Tell us about it!

Oh, it would've been better if the cake was sent on November 14th for the Zune's birthday. =]

Why a cake? why not a Update... I am tring to be real patient.. really i am

cool!

Very cool, Zune sure has some dedicated fans! Keep up the good work!

Aww...that's wicked cute... :)

Now can we have the real news?

The new iPods are coming September 5th.   GIVE US A ZUNE ANNOUNCEMENT.

Give us a reason to not go buy the new iPod... please!!

Cesar, when you do have a date to make your big announcement, please do it at some public forum.  I'd settle for a press conference that can be viewed online.  And please get J to come out and tell people why he's excited about the product(s) and how it advances our entertainment experiences.

Thanks

Wow!! that real nice!! gr8!! U should hav posted a pic of the whole Zune Team ( or who ever was there for the cake).

Great to see the cake, but more pressing is the forthcoming announcement from Apple and the new iPods.  What we need is for Microsoft to step up and give the Zune community a shot in the arm with new firmware updates/features and a bold response to the Apple machine, because most of this summer was too quiet on the Zune front.  We need a firmware update that is going to take the Zune to the next level:  WiFi functionality on-par or better than the SanDisk Connect, less restrictions on the Social, and Audible support, for starters.  I'm passionate about the Zune, more so than any other player I've owned.  And I, like others in the community, feel it can do better.  Show us.

I agree with John in S.Florida, the reason Apple has does so well as far as product releases is because they know how to make you want it. They build up so much anticipation and want for a product and they make the unveiling such a big event. They get Steve up there on a stage in front of all the press and then he make him your friend by portraying him as some cool, nice, friendly guy that is on your side, and he tells you how this new product is sooo cool and how it will change the market. They hit you with it all at once and you are caught up in the moment and so excited about all these new things and features. I mean technology blogs are there feeding you the information as the keynote, presentation, or unveiling is happening. Now obviously we don't want to see gates up on stage in a black turtle neck and some Levis, but you have to realize that Microsoft has fans too and we would like to have a cool figure that we can rely on to get up there and sell the product before we even know what it is. Honestly if Amazon put the 6th gen IPod up for pre-sale tonight it would be selling like hotcakes even though no one knows what it looks like or even what features have been added. We need someone who can sell the Zune like that and I think J could be that figure, he did a great job with the Xbox unveiling and I would like to see him do something similar with the rest of Microsoft's younger brands. Hell if he doesn't want to do it, you guys could put me up there but you need someone to sell this thing because ads alone don't cut it anymore. I just want the Zune and Microsoft to do well, but its hard for that to happen if no one is willing to step up and make it happen.

Couldnt save an for me..... :( Looked delicious.

My Zune died. I tried calling tech support a number of times, but they continue to give me the runaround. I loved my Zune... I really did. But with the new Ipods coming, and the complete lack of interest from the Zune team to give us even a hint as to what is next, I have given up. Good luck everyone. It was fun while it lasted. Hope you enjoyed the cake.

I agree with charlie.

My question is; do you really deserve a cake? My mother always said I could have a slice after I´d done my work. Not before.

The lack of team members enjoying the cake may suggest Cesar is the only member left…

Get on with it, give us some updates – you´re being beat by every player on the market at the moment. If you deliver, I´ll send you a cake too. I promise.
