(Hit "publish" publish too fast earlier, mea culpa)

Ok folks, here is the news for the Chicago BBQ:

  • Sunday, July 22. 3-10 PM
  • Open to the public
  • Performances by Mos Def, Bilal, Little Brother, and Qualo
  • Undisclosed Location (but you can register to get tickets)
  • Tickets are free to those who register, on a first come, first serve basis.

It's cool. I'm a huge fan of the Mighty Mos Def and he's the headliner. The Zune team created the "Zune-Live at the BBQ" series from the ground up, working with artists directly in  Zune worked with artists directly, to celebrate music and give back to the community. While I was in LA, I got Damian from the Zune team on camera to talk a little about Live at the BBQ:

"cultural core consumer"...are you referring to a hip-hop audience that this BBQ is catered to?  I hope you run co-marketing programs for other music genres and art forms (video, photography, etc).

Did you guys just create the Zune division to have parties?

Also, I second the above post about supporting different genres and art forms.

Can you sponsor a Niel Diamond tour?

I hear you on different genres: in the past we've worked with CSS, band of horses, Ladytron, South African artists, Latin artists, hip hop, and way more

As for other art forms go - check out zune-arts. We worked with cool video producers and graphic artists and we celebrate that on zune-arts

LOL Stephen: "Did you guys just create the Zune division to have parties?" - it's summertime man! let's celebrate!`

Zune Team celebrating !!! Can I ask what besides 1+ millions iPhones sold ? :-O

Cesar - Good point.

And while I'm here, a few weeks back there was a page about Xbox/Zune connectivity on Xbox.com. The Zune pictured had an awesome wallpaper, it was like the 360 rings logo. Are you able to give that to us? Because I'd really love to use it.

Seriously, Dawkins what does that over priced iPod have to do with anything here?

Apple people can be such d*cks. They act as if everyone is so enamored with their toys as they are.

Hey Cesar, I just want to share my story with you guys:

So, yesterday I was walking around Sam's Club listenin' to my Zune. You know, enjoying it. Decided to change the song. Reached in to my pocket, and I kinda hit the input jack. Suddenly, I'm hearing no music. I pull it out of my pocket, and looked at where they wire cover meets the output of the headphones. The wires were frayed. Yeah, very suckish. Only my left earbud works now. You know, I'm kinda bummed, my left earbud has always had lower output than the right earbud and now it was all I had. So, I just stuck it into my pocket, kinda bummed.

So, I get home, maybe 6 hours later I get home, go to Zune.net and get the Customer Service number. I call it, hit "4" for "accessories" and in about 6 seconds I have a guy on the phone. I give him my information, and asks what he can do for me. I explain what happened and he's very understanding. All he asks is "Now this isn't from abuse or anything, right?" and I answered "No". That's all he needed. Apparently, it's a fairly common problem. He tells me he's sending me a pair of stock headphones, free of charge. How's that for service, huh?

I'd like to thank you guys for caring about the customer. I was afraid I was gonna get the "Sorry, it isn't our fault you can't take care of your product", but you guys really surprised me.

This is was the final thing that makes me feel that Microsoft, and the Zune team really care about me. Good job you guys. I don't know if I could ask for much more.

I, for one, am diggin the concert sponsorships. Btw, it's almost always warm down south... even in the winter (hint, hint... CoughAtlantaCough)

I heard you Dragod. Best Customer Service experience I've ever had. They wont stop until your problem is solved. With the exception of my Premium Earphones -_-

They're pretty cool as well. They're not the kind where like you as a customer feel unwelcome to call in and have your problem fixed. No, they really care about their customers. And I think thats the most important thing you could give to them. (right next to an awesome product)

Those backgrounds are in a pack at:http://www.360style.net/news47.html

@Dragod

Buy some JVC Marshmallows as me. 10 dollars at Circuit City.

Ricardo, those aren't the wallpapers I'm talking about. If I could find the page on Xbox.com, I'd post it but I think it was taken down in the redesign.

I RSVP'd for the event in chicago about a week ago and never got a response.  I'm really trying to find out where the show is as I am a big fan of all the artist.  Help a brother out please!  Email info to address above, thanks.

How do I register for the bbq?

I want to attend Me and my guy love these artists. Please e-mail me.

I found out where the show is.

I applied for tickets today, still no response.

Define "open to the public"

How do I register for tickets??? Ilove Mos Def and I live right across the street from the location.
