Go check out ILikeMyZune.net, it went live about seven minutes ago. There, you can find some info about Zune, as well as details on our LiveNation partnership (venues, dates, locations, artists).

This is the first in a series of events the Zune team is putting on to celebrate summer, Zune, and you. And you. Yes, you too. . . .

And speaking of summer, check out info on our Live at the BBQ. . . more details on that in the coming days.

why didn't they used the very cool original Zune style and typography?

Are all those events ones the Zune Zone is participating in, because that is a mighty big list...

So many Zune's in the concert Pics!! Thts Cool. Do all of them own a Zune or just a photo stunt??? ;)

PS: A Nice Brown Site ;), but still using Flash Player :( Where's Silver Light??

The iPhone has sold close to 1 million units in a week. How's the Zune tracking for a million units pushed in to the channel in one year coming along? :)

Sweet, glorious specs of the 11.6 millimeter device (that's frickin' thin, by the way) include a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 touchscreen display with multi-touch support and a proximity sensor to turn off the screen when it's close to your face

I like my Zune Sleeves...

Awesome. I like how Zune is pushing up the community based thingy. Hopefully it stays and works as great. Seems like a neat site.

Doh, I just installed FF cause IE was causing me problems, now I guess I need to install Flash so I can view the site!

it's a nice site and everything, but i think many of us in the community are at a loss as to why this is the approach you're taking.  i mean, here you are with a near rabid fan base of people willing to evangelize for your product, and rather than giving them a way to do it, you're pushing the zune this way.  seriously, not only do i have a zune, but my girlfriend has one, both my sisters have one, my dad bought my mom one for her birthday two weeks ago, and my brother is even going to get one just so he can send pictures of his daughter to my mom when they're close to each other (the whole picture-sharing thing is ridiculously popular with my family for some reason).  but you know what i don't have?  some sort of social site or plugin for other sites that i can use to share playlists (giving others the option to download those songs from the marketplace), favorite artists, or any other content that might pertain to my zune.  i'm just puzzled over this.  you guys have all the tools at your disposal, and you keep beating everyone over the head that this thing is supposed to be social, but you're missing the most obvious ingredient.  seriously, wtf?

while i'm at it, i'll do what every other person here does and gripe about features that seem completely obvious that you don't have.

1) better video resolution.  my mom is thrilled about her zune dock and the fact that she can put videos of her granddaughter easily on her tv with the same device that she uses to carry them around, but she doesn't like that it looks like crap.  i understand that video takes up more room, but you need to give people the option.

2) video sharing.  every person i know with a zune, and there are several at this point (you guys should be writing me royalty checks), is annoyed that they can't share videos.  we don't care that it takes longer.  we understand that.  we aren't idiots.  we still want to share video like we do pictures.

3) video on the marketplace.  i'm sure you're seeing a theme here.  but seriously, there are free music videos on xbox live, and you guys need to make things like that available to zune users as well.  you know what will get people to switch?  more content.

4) more video codecs or, at the minimum, a built in video converter (which, funny enough, is already in there).  you're killing yourself with this one.  when i was at best buy with my dad getting my mom's zune for her b-day, i talked three different people into getting a zune just because of the video playback and the ability to share pictures, and i wasn't even trying.  some woman just asked why we were getting a zune instead of an ipod, and i started to explain that my mom really wanted some way to carry all the digital pictures and video of her granddaughter around with her.  not only did she buy one, but some other older woman did, and some middle-aged guy bought one for his wife.  there was a younger guy who wanted one, but best buy ran out.  the only drawback to any of this was that i had to explain that they would likely need a video converter for any video they wanted on there.  i'm not completely sure they understood.  now, i get that this isn't exactly the market you're aiming at, but me, my sisters, my girlfriend, my best friend, and the guys in my band all are, and we all have zunes, and we care about the same issue.  to think that we're alone in this would be ridiculous.

i'll stop with the video stuff.  i love the product, but you guys are shooting yourself in the foot here by not giving people very simple, obvious options.  fix it.

Oh lord, the videos on the iPhone look spectacular! (went to the koolaid store, again :P)

Not grainy like the zunes!!

You couldn't pay me enough money to suffer through the artist(?) list at the BBQ event's.

What is that all about? The last gasp of rap? Let it go, man.

I can't wait to see what Zune2 looks like. I'm sure the Zune team is up to the task of matching and/or exceeding the innovation, aesthetic design and features of anything Apple could do.  Zune from a hardware perceptive is better than iPod.  Zune2..who knows what thats going to look like.  Will it have a touch screen? higher resolution? more storage? thinner? better design lines?  You bet it will.  I don't think we'll find out until later this fall.

In the meantime, I look forward to new features and perhaps a inexpensive flash based Zune.  You know..to gain marketshare on the other guy while they peddle their $500+ contract laden no tv output wares.

Not grainy like the zunes!!

-snicker- I wasn't aware that the zune screen was 'grainy'. Yours must be defective because mine is crystal clear. Anyone out there who owns a Zune have a grainy screen?  (listens to the crickets) I didn't think so.

Why are there so many iphone posts from the apple fans? Why compair a telephone with a DMP? I admit I am confused. Arent these two tottally different kinds of devices?

I'm curious, how big is the drive on the iphone? 30g? 80g? Is it large enough to be useful as a CD storage device or is it just a small flash drive that can hold a few CD's to listen to while on-the-go?

Get something going at Virginfest!

Rhett, I agree with you but be careful of the drive comparison.  They don't do it now but I think Apple's ultimate goal is for iPhone to be able to access media libraries over the internet like Orb.com does.  Its what I think Microsoft should do with Windows Mobile and Windows Home Server.

John, that would take a LOT of bandwidth (Or a heavy compression of the audio file. yuck). I wonder what kind of pricey service plan you would need to stream music over a mobile network 8 to 10 hours a day all month long?

Were still a long way off from complete coverage too. If you never leave your little hotspot you might be ok but if you live in the burbs or any location other than "Major city" you would be out of luck. (I dont get any mobile web service at all and have to drive 30 miles before finding it. And NO. I don't live in the woods. Im just outside Boston.)

For a million ipods sold I sure am not hearing much buzz or even hard info. Man when Zune launched You couldn't shake a stick without hitting a review, blog, or forum devoted to the device.

I like the idea of virtual controls (touchscreen) but am curious to hear how it works pratically. First thing that occurs to me is that the screen will be in a constant state of smudge and smear. Fingerprints and gunk. Time will tell, I guess.

Will the big metal storage container (from your picture) have A/C ?  I'm just askin cuz if not, no dice.  It's 115 F here in the shade.

Rhett, I think Zune 2.0 will have a larger screen, Larger capacity (with comparable flash devices) and better Wi-Fi capability leading the DMP feature's compared to the iPhone.

(Not the never ending feature requests) Coming to Wi-Fi capability, there's a lot of scope to integrate many windows services with Zune(other than xbox), like

- Sync pictures with MS Live storage (to be released).

- Browse Marketplace and buy songs over Wi-Fi.

- Soapbox videos(counter youtube) community over Wi-Fi or another Silver Light based app.

Hope MS has some of these coming in Zune2

I agree with Jim on so many levels. You have no idea Cesar. This device has so much potential.. Last time me and my friend laughed to hard at a short conversation we had about it.

"That thing is awesome man, sending songs to other people, genious!"

"2D navigation is also made of pure win"

"yuuup...aw man I forgot my phone. What time is it?"

"I dont know"

"Check on you Zu-"

"It doesnt tell time, Jason"

Cesar I'm not gonna lie to you. I'm getting a bit irritated. I mean, I look at my Zune, and it looks back at me...making those puppy eyes. And I see that it can do SO much. Like buying stuff from the market place on it. But its not being pushed to its limit.

Hey, wasnt the Zune supposed to do that thing the iPhone does? Where of you tilt it sideways the menu rearranges so it is displayed properly? I've heard about that countless times before I bought one. My friend even thought so too. What happened? Was that only a rumour? Or does it have a tilt sensor and is waiting for a firmware update to be put to use?

Clicking on some of the event lists, they then don't scroll... Might want to check that out..

ooooh, nice site.  Very "flashy."

regarding iPhone and online media libraries..i think the YouTube viewer is good evidence of that kind of direction. I suppose at some point Zune will get a Soapbox viewer.
