Zune-Arts: Honorable Mention in I.D. Annual Design Review

Zune-Arts has received an Honorable Mention in The Industrial Design Magazine 2007 Annual Design Review. From I.D.: "The site itself didn't have a wow factor-the wow factor was the material in it."

It's cool for Zune-Arts to get a mention. Here's my favorite video on Zune-arts to date:

<That's probably because of Ratatat>

Heh, that's my fav video too. But probably not just because of Ratatat but because of the message I think in it.

"Die For A Friend"

Dan

This is the type of add Microsoft should run, guys please do something about this product.  So much potential but nothing is happening.

Sean

Good Job Zune-Arts! And thats my favorite one too!

If I never saw that video I would have never known of Ratatat. And the Corps are not gone yet. (Just a little bit busy.)

Funny you post this video again!  I had some songs sent to me via Zune's sharing feature over the weekend.  Anyway, for the life of me I was trying to remember where I heard another song from this band.  Then earlier today I found that post where you posted this video before. I was like, that's it! Here you go again posting it. ha! :)

Its really a good job artistically.  I disagree with Dan on the potential of this an ad...in no way is this suitable for a TV ad..it doesn't say anything about what Zune is or does.

happiness is short lived

Congrats Zune-Arts!! You should use this great material and mix it with showing off some features of the zune and get more tv spots and ads out there. Every time I watch tv i see a new ipod ad and i has been always the same thing: a guy or two dancing to some great promo music... I say that with things as the mims ad that got out there a couple of months ago you can give the zune great promotion and mix it with this award winning zune-arts.

TheMan

By the time anyone reads this it'll be old news, but the "GOOD" stuff i was talking about is the news coming from (of course) engadget.com  All kidding aside i'd by a small flashed based ala mini zune. But an 80 gig WOW. I sure hope zune market place will be offering videos some time soon.  Later

nighthawkz6

wtf is this?

..it doesn't even showcase the zune??

I've taken some business classes, and THAT my friend is CRAPPY marketing.

Nick

That is also definitely my favorite zune advert. Actually for both. Punga and Ratatat are a great combination, plus, the Dragonball Z Fusion dance is a great addition

Jander

This Zune Arts effort and the cookie one are my favs.  Highly original, intertwined with catchy tune, both highlighting a smile sharing theme.

Congrats Zune Arts

(I still don't know about the one with the eyeballs ;) )

Vicky

Caesar and co., I really desperately need your help by putting under the 'the cool zune kids' category!!

www.zune-life.com.au is a really small Australian website but seeing as that zunes aren't released here yet, we seriously don't have a lot of Australian visitors/members and we need to grow to spread the zune love around!

This is where you fellow Americans can help (with your extraordinary large zune knowledge ;)  ) by signing up as members and posts discussions/comments and turn this tiny website into something HUGE!  and while you're at it, please spread the website around...THANKS SOOOOO MUCH!!!!

Jason

80 GB Zune in the works for holiday release? Maybe? Check it out at Gizmodo.com.

Chris

Just outta curiosity...Any boats with signs or loud music planned for the IPHONE debut.  LOL

Anyways I'm loving my Zune.  My wife is begging me for one of her own.  Is it bad that when the Gen 2's come out I'm gonna give her my Gen 1 and keep the Gen 2 for me.

In other news.  Meijer (a wal-mart type store in the midwest) was selling the Pink Zune for $199 with a $25 store gift certificate.  So essential a sub $200 Zune and gift cerificate to by some Zune swag.   No I didn't buy one!  Stupid house payment and bills.  They're wrecking my fun.

Heres an idea to answer iPhone and do something new:

- Create a Zune add-on for Windows Home Server that allows you to centralize/sync all your content/licensing onto WHS.

- Create a Zune add-on for Windows Mobile that allows the Windows Mobile device to remotely access Windows Home Server stored content.

- Add ability for Zune portable devices to communicate over internet to Windows Home Server.  Primarily to resync, ie. grab a new recorded TV program, etc.

Advantage:

- Promotes Windows Home Server, Windows Mobile and Zune platforms.

- Encourages users to establish a home entertainment network.  That in turn creates opportunity for future products & upgrades.

- Eliminates the need to sync everything you plan on taking with you by giving you remote access.

- Eliminates the need for huge storage requirements in Mobile devices.  Thats not to say storage isn't valueable..it just comes at a premium.

Disadvantage:

- May drain battery faster thus offering shorter runtime

- May increase mobile phone usage fees to gain remote access to Windows Home Server.  To minimize this, better mobile rates needed and/or offer WIFI as an alternative connectivity option

Um...this ad says to me:

You buy a Zune, you die.

Cesar: here's the latest in the wave of rumors: http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/26/next-generation-zune-scorpio-set-for-july-production/

I'm just hoping regardless if this is true or not, that the zune 2.0 will be full touchscreen. With surface and the recent multi-touch laptops microsoft has made this seems like the next step.

Mark

John, good ideas. Like I said in my comment I think multi-touch for the zune 2.0 would round it out pretty nicely to blast anything else out of the water.

Nate

If Engadget and Gizmodo (not to mention Crunchgear) say the same thing, how could it be false?  The chances of them all reporting Scorpio on the same day are astronomically small.  One in a trillion.

Mark

@Nate: That's not necissarilly true. A lot of times Engadget and Gizmodo get their news from other sources (in this case Zunescene). Even if they hadn't gotten it from the same source, it could have been someone contacting all of them as a hoax. That said it sounds fairly likely that this particular rumor is true since it doesn't promise anything that would make all zune users everywhere's heads explode (or even anything that's all that exciting). I guess we'll find out soon enough

What's the point of competing with the iPhone?

iPhone will beat out the entire Windows mobile market. Mark my words.

andersonoscar5

the iPhone looks amazing, and it probably feels amazing in the palm of your hand, too. It's sleek, curvy, shiny, and sexy, with on-screen icons and buttons that just ooze and drip class.

Zune Insider

Ok, I officially have a new favorite video on Zune-arts , mostly because of this one uses What Made Milwaukee

Valiarde

WTF? Love the music, great little video, but it has absolutely nothing to do with marketing the Zune.  Best case scenario, it says that using a Zune to share music will deactivate both devices. How appropriate after MS's recent problem with their WGA server.
