As you know, you can add songs on the go to your Zune quicklist. I thought it would be fun to share what's on ours. I'll start:

  • Tokyo Police Club: "Be Good (Rac Remix);" "The Nature of the Experiment"
  • Bloc Party: "Hunting for Witches"
  • The Rosebuds: "Blue Bird"
  • Tegan and Sara: "Speak Slow"
  • Madonna: "Holiday"
  • Interpol: "The Heinrich Maneuver"
  • Counting Crows: "40 Years"
  • Elastica: "Car Song"
  • Justice vs. Simian: "We Are Your Friends"
  • K-Os: "Sunday Morning"
  • Mstrkrft: "Work on You;" "Easy Love"
  • The Go! Team "Grip Like a Vice"
  • Ayla: "Angelfalls (club mix)"
  • Mylo: "Mars Needs Women"
  • The Beatles: "I've Just Seen a Face"
  • Spoon: "I Turn My Camera On"

Ok, dear blog reader, your turn. Don't be shy, or embarassed. And don't make fun of each others choices.

Here is mine:

The Thermals: Pillar of salt

Lily Allen: Smile

Amy Winehouse: Rehab

Sex Pistols: God save the queen

The Kills: No WOW

Tokyo Police Club: Be Good

Lupe Fiasco: Kick Push

Snow Patrol: Eyes Open

Since I got my zune the other day I've only just started using quick lists, I like loads of diffeent genres of music and my favorites change every few days:

Interpol-Roland

Jose Gonzales-Crosses

SnowPatrol-Headlights on Dark Roads

Ulrich Schnauss-Clear Day

Aphex Twin-Window Licker

The Reindeer section-Cartwheels

Sigur Ros-Saeglopur

The Thermals-A Pillar of Salt

i have nothing in my quicklist, dont use that feature and think its confusing, useless and unneeded.

There MUST be a way to create playlists on the device!

well right now I am catching up on podcasts I missed while on vacation.

so 5 episodes of Buzz Out Loud ( www.cnet.com )

and an episode of Major Nelson ( the show about Pacman )

My quicklist is empty =\

My quicklist was a quick mix that I put together for background music at a company picnic.  Can you tell that I'm a Parrothead?

--The Notorious MSG, "Die Hungry" album

--Big & Rich, "Horse of a Different Color" album

--Bob Marley, "Legend" album

--Jimmy Buffett, "A1A" album

--Jimmy Buffett, "Floridays" album

--Jimmy Buffett, "Fruitcakes" album

--Jimmy Buffett, "License to Chill" album

--Jimmy Buffett, "Take the Weather With You" album

--Jimmy Buffett, "Banana Wind" album

--Jimmy Buffett, "Barometer Soup" album

--Jimmy Buffett, "Somewhere Over China" album

--Dazz Band, "Motown Legends" album

--Lakeside, "Galactic Grooves" album

Cesar,

What would be really cool if there was a way of publishing/sharing your Zune quicklist to the Zune community. An obvious way of doing this would be through a Live Spaces gadget or, cos its a bit more hip and trendy these days, a Facebook "gadget" (I don't know what Facebook's terminology is for a gadget).

Most importantly, it should happen automatically. i.e. I add a song to my quicklist and next time I sync up with the Zune software then it syncs the quicklist with the list on my spaces gadget (assuming I am signed in using my Live ID).

That would be COOL!!!

I've discussed similar ideas to that here: http://blogs.conchango.com/jamiethomson/archive/2006/11/25/Zune.aspx

Regards

-Jamie

   Bad Medicine

   Wanted Dead or Alive

The Offspring:

   Defy You

   Want You Bad

(Part Two dissapeared but when I find

        it, it'll be there too.)

Albums

Chaney - Somos Amigos

Patricia Manterola - Que el Ritmo no Pare

Proyecto Uno - New Era

La Quinta Estación - Flores de Alquiler

Exitos de la Salsa (smart playlist)

Chicas del Can (smart playlist)

My quicklist still has the instrumentals I performed to the last time I performed. I don't use the quicklist a whole lot because once I spend the time buildinga playlist, I can't save it. Now if I could add songs to playlists and save them (or tags) . . .

AAhh Great Idea!!

Here is my quick list:

1. Bravery : Believe

2. Maroon5 : If I never See Your Face Again

3. Maroon5 : Wake Up Call

4. Maroon5 : Makes Me Wonder

5. The Flaming Lips : The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song

6. The Shins : Sleeping Lessons

7. The Shins : Australia

8. The Postal Service : Such Great Heights

absolutely nothing. i use it quicklist to put together playlists on the fly whenever i plug my zune into the stereo at a party.

Made a 5 song Quick list for the drive home last night (nice short commute):

1. Arctic Monkeys - "D is for Dangerous"

2. White Stripes - "The Denial Twist"

3. Lakes - "Indian Lover"

4. Steely Dan- "Do it Again"

5. Hunters and Collectors - "January Rain"

What exactly is the Quicklist? I've not bought a Zune yet and this is the first I've heard of such a feature.

Also, on Xbox.com there's a page about Zune/Xbox connectivity. Is there a way to get the wallpaper on the Zune on that page Cesar? It's really nice.

I use QL to grab songs that I seem to never hear off off my main list. Like Gimme Three Steps, Centerfield, Rich Girl, Sultans of Swing, You Owe Me Nothing in Return.

Just a reminder, for free videos, no registration, names or any BS go to www.savethecolors.com. Use the menu and go to Special Interest, ZuneCasts. Most are military in nature but all are sized for Zune. For a music video (is it really?) same website, scroll down and on the left, under Check it out, you will find Amarillo, done by some Brits in Iraq.

Regards,

Keith

I'm a Christian, so my Quick List is all the best Christian music out today...

tobyMac - Made to Love

too many to count!!!!how many songs can it hold anyways????

By the way Cesar, just cause I know some1 is gonna say it (and not because I actually think this is the case): "Flash" Poll? is that a hint?

Here's a sampling of my QL:

Aldo Nova: Fantasy

Golden Earring: Twilight Zone

Tom Cochrane: Life is a Highway

10cc: Dreadlock Holiday

Adam Ant: Stand and Deliver

All-American Rejects: Move Along

Walter Egan: Magnet and Steel

Willie Nelson: Maria

I actually have more, but am tired of typing! :)

Kinda small, but some of the songs are kinda long:

Liquid Tension Experiment - When the Water Breaks

Dream Theater - Octavarium

Dream Theater - Another One(Score)

Dream Theater - Under a Glass Moon

Black Guayaba - Lejos

Death - Scavenger of Human Sorrow

Gorefest - Erase

Control Denied - Expect the Unexpected

i don't use it, we need a now playing list =(

oh, and option to remove single tracks from the list

Nothing.  I would use the quicklist feature to find the lastest content added but now I use an auto playlist.

Ron, that looks like a playlist that I'D put together.

Wow, someone else that owns Aldo Nova???

Jill Scott - The Fact Is

Jill Scott - Rasool

India Arie - There's Hope

Prince - The Cross

Amy Winehouse - Rehab

The Wu Tang Discography. A friend of mine has been asking for How High forever, and I finally passed it onto him.

I wish you could remove selected tracks or arrange their order. You guys should have an "advanced" setting on the firmware to allow people who don't give a damn about a clean interface to customize it to their liking.

Jim: I recommend listening to Hawk Nelson as well. I heard them at the Winter Jam concert, and although at the time I didn't like their music ( I think I was deaf by then ) I just bought their album. " Smile, Its the End of the World ". I highly recommend it, especially the song " Everything you ever wanted ". Nice to see you have Casting Crowns, they are by far one of the best. =D

@Gibson

Buy a Zune and you will know... :D

Please ... oh please ... Give us the ability to save out the quicklist as a playlist. All of the Creative players have this and I used to use it all the time.

I agree with a previous poster that advocated an "advanced" mode so that us more technically inclined people can be power users with our fabu Zunes.

well I haven't been able to quicklist anything... just picked up my Halo 3 Edition at lunch :)

but right now it's on 'random' so there's a lot of Halo music playing

when I get home I have 15gb to sync though!

Oh, I'm going to buy a Zune. I'm waiting until my holiday though (I live in the UK). Also, I won't buy one until Podcast support is released.

Bar,

I had forgotten about Aldo Nova, but one night I was trying to think of any long lost tunes. A friend suggested Aldo Nova, so I found it on ZM and downloaded it. "Fantasy" has always been one of my favorite tunes!

I only ever use it for Nine Inch Nails' The fragile. It's 2 discs and is best when listened to completly. It's too much work to use it, really. I hate how it's the only current media player from Microsoft that doesn't have a now playing list. Every other player has one, even the zune software. It's the only feature I'm waititg for in firmware updates. Anything else would just be extra to me.

Hey Cesar, I've been having a problem with the zune software not detecting any video files on my zune recently. I can see the video file directly on the zune and when I sync with my zune it shows the video files are already there but they don't show up in the software. It just says "There are no files on this device. To begin, sync files to the device."

Full album of "Jump it" and "Jumpers" That's not on the marketplace as far as i know btw, it comes from holland.

Cesar

I have delayed the replacement of my iPod nano now for 8 months, since the battery died, and have been hoping ever since that the Zune would launch soon after in the UK/ Europe!  I am off on holiday in a little over 1 month and I am still hoping the zune would have launched by then but if not, £160 is getting dropped on an 8gb Black Nano.

Now im betting there is atleast 1 million others like me throughout Europe who cant wait any longer.  If we all bought the 8gb Black Nano, thats £160 million Microsoft will lose before the end of the year!  Thats gotta hurt your bottom line?

Please give us an update as to Zune's availability in Europe!!!

Is there going to be a way to remove individual songs from the quicklist? and to save it? because i have tons of songs in there as i make new playlists on my zune, but then i have to delete the whole thing.  i just cleared 68 songs from my quicklist yesterday.  it's the closest thing to a sleep timer i have in choosing my songs right then

80 - Green Day

Those Anarcho Punks Are Mysterious - Against Me!

Atlantic - Keane

A Bad Dream - Keane

Any Colour You Like - Pink Floyd

Brain Damage - Pink Floyd

Chump - Green Day

Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd

Cool Kids - Screeching Weasel

Creep - Radiohead

Echoes - Pink Floyd

Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime - Beck

Everest - Ratatat

Everything's Perfect - Magnet

Hamburg Song - Keane

Hey You - Pink Floyd

I Just Dont Know What To Do With Myself - White Stripes

I Love Death - Lodger

In The House In A Heartbeat - John Murphy

Just A Car Crash Away - Marilyn Manson

Make This Go On Forever - Snow Patrol

Misery - Green Day

Nothing In My Way - Keane

Paper Lanterns - Green Day

Pitseleh - Elliot Smith

So This Is Goodbye - Moby

Strange - Galaxie 500

The Thin Ice - Pink Floyd

Us And Them - Pink Floyd

Waltz # 2 - Elliot Smith

Where Happiness Lives - Magnet

Who You Are - Cary Brothers

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

Within A Mile Of Home - Flogging Molly

I agree with the single item deleting thing. Maybe in 1.5?

Deserter - Matthew Dear

I usually use the quicklist to listen to multiple albums on random.

Right now I have:

Paramore - Riot!

The White Stripes - Icky Thump

Acceptance - Phantoms

So a wide range of Punk/Rock to Alternative to just plain Rock.

So, i haven't got a Zune yet, but am planning to after i get 2 more paychecks from my babysitting job. I CANNOT WAIT!  What i have seen from all the sights is that the Zune is very efficient and absolutely wonderful and i must admit it looks gorgy(gorgeous). I plan to put AT LEAST 120 songs on it and a BUNCH of podcasts and videos. I just heard about this quicklist thing and im concerned that when i buy the software, its not going to let me transfer the music and videos to the zune and let me keep it forever when im only buying a month of the "stuff" to put on the zune. Is this going to work, Cesar? Im not sure how the transferring of music to the zune is going to work. Ive had lots of trouble with my crap Zvue. ( do not buy the zvue it really sux ) I hope that there will be a huge improvement when i purchase the Zune!!! Cant wait!!!

crysmic - zune will automatically import the drm-free music in your collection, and the stuff that you purchase or the podcasts that you download in Zune marketplace will stay in your zune.

As for the Zune Pass - 10s of thousands of tracks that you can download for $15/month - you'll keep those as long as you're keeping your subscription current. More here: http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/zunepass/default.htm

This is my first time visiting your blog and i must say i like it  very much.

Your article was an interesting read.

I will surely come back here more often!
