Check out Zune Marketplace this week: we've got a freebie, and a bunch of cool releases. The freebie comes from The Boggs, a track called "Remember the Orphans." I remember seeing them at SXSW

We also have an exclusive Calle 13 track: a Tango Del Pecado remix (sorry, can't tell you what that means; this is a family site ;)

And we got the Paul McCartney catalog; although we're not the only ones to get it.

Calle 13 sucks...they dont know how to sing Reggae like the Panamanians have learned from the Jamaican. We have more than 20 years legacy singing Reggae in Spanish...

yeah, I'm Panamanian.

But, keep moving the marketplace..maybe someday I'll see "Los Cuentos de la Cripta" and "The Creation" collection there.

I was very disappointed to see that the "Bad Plus" new CD "Prog" was not available for download with the Zune pass.  I like the freebies, but would much rather you let the Zune pass members get the songs they want.  I know that it is not your fault (it's the record lable's) but I just thought I should address this.

Calle 13 is one of my favorite bands, loved their first CD and the second one is much better. They're so different from the rest of Reggaeton/Latin Hip Hop artists out there.

The Tango del Pecado Remix is nice, I downloaded it yesterday. Nice to see Latinos and the Zune together :)

It Means Tango of Sin

Atreve Te - Te ...give me a break!

coup ! ?

A few months ago, I was able to purchase Paul McCartney's new orchestral album Ecce Cor Meum.  The end of the second track had an audible "blip" in it.  Have his orchestral albums been re-encoded for quality purposes with this new acquisition?

Congrats on the McCartney catalog. I guess he is still bitter at Apple?

Can we have a Spring Update update?  Thanks

John, I'm guessing you mean "I want news about the next Zune firmware update?"

If so, no specific news on firmware updates for you (other than the generic-yet-true "the team is continually working on improving Zune" message). I would suggest subscribing to the "firmware" tag (http://zuneinsider.com/archive/tags/firmware/default.aspx) to get news as soon as it breaks :)

My bad, I thought someone from Microsoft had said that we can expect Spring & Fall updates like XBox does.  Can you say if we'll see improvements before the second generation Zunes that Jason Reincorp confirmed hit the store shelves?  And if you can't say, then I want recommend that you folks do that or it will seem like you put us on the back burner to get a new device out the door.  Thanks and keep up the good work on your new marketing campaign.

Oh, perhaps Cesar you could get someone to respond generically to the following questions without revealing what you are working on...

1. Do you have a well defined roadmap for Zune for the next 18 mos?  Do you basically know what you want to include in the next couple firmware releases.

2. Is it correct to assume that your firmware planning includes a balance of user requested features and new "platform" building blocks that you want/need to get in?

3. How do you beta test Zune software/firmware?  Internally Only?  Have you ever thought of using an external focus group?

4. How do user requested features get included?  Is it a internal blogger such as yourself that promotes an idea at a planning meeting?  Or is it more like here is the user wish list, lets prioritize them and then vote what gets included?

I was very careful not to ask what or when.

John, very good questions! You asked them in such a way that I can give you an answer, without revealing too many details about un-announced stuff. Honestly, the beta testing question is a little too "secret sauce," so I'm going to respectfully decline an answer.

1. Yes.

2. Yes.

3. Good question - answer is a little too

"secret sauce revealing"

4. We have a few channels to introduce new ideas in the stuff we're planning, and feedback from this blog (and me) is a part of that.

I appreciated you keeping away from specifics around what and when. take care!

Cesar, I appreciate the response to those questions.  More than anything I'm relieved that you folks have a plan and know what your going to include in the next couple of firmware updates.  I didn't get that impression several months ago.  Take care
