Factory Girl's Screen Print Tour

If you've ever wondered how the Zune screen printing (Adult Swim, Halo, Tempt One), this video is for you. We worked with Nylon to shoot a video with Factory Girl: Dani Stahl.

Check the video:

Dani's a riot; really fun and I think it comes through in the video. Plus her design is cool :)

In other news, Zunerama has a good story about Zune momentum, citing NPD data (remember, NPD *does* include numbers from the Apple Stores, but not Amazon or Wal-mart).

And for those who are curious what the Ladytron remix sounds like, Pitchfork is streaming a track.

Hey Cesar...any word on the red Zune yet?!?

admin

kavik, PR wants to wait a little while longer before revealing details on Red - http://zuneinsider.com/archive/2007/05/22/zune-around-the-internets.aspx

Kavik

Thanks for the heads up--hopefully it will be SOON!

Hey Cesar, any word on the zune europe warranty question I asked you yesterday?

admin

ray, we actually keep the warranty info on Zune.net:

http://www.zune.net/en-us/support/resources/warranty.htm

ray

Ok that gives no indication of whether they will recognise a european zune or not, the conditions are for "within the united states"

..Speaking about design, It'd be nice if MS starts engraving their zunes just like you can with ipods.

The Baker

Wow... it's been a while since I last posted...

nighthawkz6, what do you mean by engraving? If you refer to the laser engraving that they do on the iPods (which I assume you do), how is this really any different from screen printing in terms of the end result? i.e. what exactly are you looking for that is different from what is currently offered by screen printing.

This brings up a larger question about convenience and price of personalization. With iPods for sure (and perhaps others), personalization through laser engraving is pretty darn quick and easy for the manufacturer which results in a cheap and widely available (and used) feature. Screen printing is only cost effective when used in high volume; i.e. making a screen for a single person is expensive because it can't be used again (unless two people want the same print). Further, it's harder to find a third party who does screen printing compared to one who does laser engraving.

The one good thing about the difficulty with permanent personalization is that when it does happen (like through promos) it has a much much bigger impact. Great for MS primarily, and good for Zune users in that the more Zune users the better. Bad for us too... but when were laser engravings on iPods ever an artistic expression worth noting.

bee tee dubs (btw) Cesar... is there (slash will there in the future be) a way to tell the Zune software to clear all album art and reload it with higher res ones (implemented in FW1.2)? Bandwidth considerations are understandable of course... though in the future people in position will be in the minority.

bee tee dubbs part II... some of us are also engineering types and any sort of glimpse into the engineering portion of the Zune Team is always appreciated (maybe post Zune 2.0 release).

I swear I'm done now.

Hay saw the zune ad on prime time on ABC during... hum... during Grey's Anatomy... alright I'm not proud of it but I'm a fan of the show... hot women get me all the time no matter the show(atleast that's what I tell everyone ;-)). Luckily noone here knows me lol. Anyway it was on twice.

Cesar:

Can you please tell me if there will be any support for Zune software with Microsoft Windows XP64 professional in the near future? I have been holding off on selling my zune because i have managed to force the software on to my system. But obviously i cannot access all the features (marketplace for example).

I simply need to know so i can decide what to do with the zune. I simply cannot keep it if there is no XP64 support.. it is my main operating system.

Thank you

Maxis

abobddy

It looks very pretty~~I really, really, really want one .

brutha-man

Haha Ceasar. I love the Amnesty Bin "bite me" at Zune HQ. Stroke of genius!....was that your idea?

brutha-man

O.K Zune team...its nearing a year now. We need to  start hearing word on when ZMP is going to get podcasts, movies, TV etc

brutha-man

whats in store for new music today?

John in S.Florida

brutha-man, we just past the 6 months mark for Zune.  So we need abit more patience.  But I'm with you that sooner is always better.  Hopefully we get some exciting news before iPhone is released.

nighthawkz6

Name engraving? you don't know when you can call up Apple and have them ship you a custom engraved ipod? Do some googling..

Besides that,I agree with the other stuff you posted up.

Bb

good video. I think Zune using the series of limited edition units is a good idea as it will allow more people to show off a color more inclined with personality.  When (if) a flash model comes out that it is on the same level as ipod shuffle or nano it would be cool to see several limited editions with about 2 main colors.

MaxisOne

Cesar did you see my comment/question above ?

I dont want to be a nag ... but some sort of response would be great.

Thanks

Dragod

Hey Cesar,

Do you think it'd be possible to have machines like that in like special areas around the States? I think it'd be really cool if I wanted to make my own Design on a Zune I could just bring in whatever would be required and have it shipped to me a few weeks later after it's all assembled. Hell, I'd love to be able to have a Zune that's like no one else's... I'd be willing to pay an extra premium for it.

Ray, check out part H of the warranty.
