The first rule of New Music Friday is: Talk about New Music Friday. The second rule of New Music Friday is. . .* Ready for some free music for your Zune? Here we go:
- First up, something a little different. I went to a show last week and heard a band I very much liked - The Stereo Future. Check out "Wasteland" on their site.
- You Ain't No Picasso has an MP3 from Iceland's Benni Hemm Hemm, as well as a listing of their U.S. Tour Dates. Sweet.
- Describing their music as "Bleepy, orchestral, electro-pop," Music (for Robots) has a track from Vancouver's Montag.
- While it's not (directly) a new music track, Tiny Mix Tapes has funny article about Zune vs. iPod. Lighten up and give it a read :)
- Brooklyn Vegan has two tracks from Zuneinsider favorite, The Streets, (and one from 120 days).
- Scissorkick has a track from The Cinematic Orchestra, from a "soundtrack to a film that hasn't been made."
- Like The Arcade Fire? The Handsome Furs? Me too. Chromewaves has a track from each band.
- Fans of Soul rejoice, Soulsides has one of my all-time favorite songs: "It's Your Thing (Do Whatcha Wanna Do)," recorded in 1968.
- My Old Kentucky Blog has two Cake covers: Cake covering Barry White and Cake covering Black Sabbath. Yes, you read that correctly.
- All right, admit it, you like The Monkees. It's ok. Aquarium Drunkard has two MP3s.
- Gorilla vs Bear has the new Polyphonic Spree.
- And last but certainly not least: No Age Rock Cleveland.
Ok, enjoy the free music and have a great weekend everybody!
*bonus points if you get the reference
