. . . Was wrong. I read this post about NPD from David's blog. As it turns out, NPD is actually more accurate than folks on this blog (including me) originally thought:

  • NPD does not report on Wal-mart or Sam's (we were right about that one).
  • NPD *does* report on the Apple online and retail stores - since last year (we were wrong).
  • NPD also doesn't report on Amazon (small percentage of the category; we were right about that one).
  • NPD data is U.S. only

Read more at Zunester.

<edit> changed "do" to "does" for a small grammar fix. I'm treating NPD as a single entity.

..so they reported that zune has 10% marketshare for hdd players. That means that in actuality, it may be 15% which is a very good start..well ahead creative zen vision:m which has been around for a lot of years (even before the ipod).

Well it looks like it was good to be wrong in this situation.  Zune FTW!

Nice to see more frequent posts. Thanks for the update.

wow...15%?

If its 15% already!! 2nd generation Zune's and flash based devices ( speculated to be announced later this year) will give real competition to iPod if they are done right. Hopefully they come-out with features satisfying most of the consumers.

Keep it up Zune.

Call me nit picky, but shouldn't it be NPD "does"...

I'm not sure of the grammar rule on that, it could very well be acceptable, it just drives me up a wall to read it like that.

Also, the link to NTP links to an FTP, for whatever reason.

... to bring entire catalog of South African Music to ZMP. The Gallo catalog includes all recorded South African music from the 1930s to today.

Great news!

Every day I see more Zunes about (Chicago).  Last Summer every CTA bus and train had huge iPod ads on them.  A train with 10 cars would have 10 huge iPod ads... Apple must have bought out the entire season because you couldn't walk 1 block without seeing an iPod ad.

You guys should beat them to it this year.  I don't look forward to seeing the iPod ads again this year.

Details of the Gallo Music partnership with Zune now on Zune.net ... See ...

thats kind of sad

At zuneone. So there advertising method would be a big brown block, right?
