GOOD NEWS.....

iPod empire already falling...iPod mods is gone...

http://www.rapidrepair.com/RRpressrelease.html

do you see how Zune is changing and re-shaping the DAP world or are you still a blind zealot ?

P!nk is the new black.

Ricardo, I wouldn't call the site rename a sign of the iPod empire failing, but I *would* say that Zune is changing and reshaping the DAP world

Or maybe apple told them to change their name. Wasn't iLounge called iPodLounge long while ago.

Instead of DAP, shouldn't it be DMP for digital media player? The Zune plays more than just audio. Would you not agree?

Hugh, they are talking about the Zune impact on the DAP market not a description of the Zune portable device.  I think Microsoft has refered to the current Zune device as a Portable Media Player.

Ok, why in the heck do i have to get my zune "insider" information from engadget? I keep coming here for infor or zune insider-mation. I guess keep up the good work zune team er...engadget.

I think there's another equally cryptic acronym for Portable Media Player or PMP. I think it resembles the name of street profession a little too closely.

Zune is here to stay people, get used to it.

Look at this: (from the Press Release)

"Rapid Repair also offers 100GB hard drive modifications for both players, which has become particularly popular among Zune owners whose players come standard with 30GB hard drives.  “The 100 gig hard drive is definitely our number one mod request followed by color mods and battery upgrades,” says Vronko."

From that, we can conclude that their the most popular order right now is the 100GB request for the Zune...meaning...the Zune had probably their biggest inluence in the name change. They noticed that more profits could be made if more people were aware of it...that is...if Microsoft doesn't decided to wake-up and actually learn from this and come out with an "official alternative."

Why are you guys coming out with different colors when you should be updating the firmware to give it more features?

I remember in December when people were complaining about no updates to add features but you said the Zune had only been out for 2 months and it needed to gain some ground which sounded reasonable. But now the Zune has been out for 5 months and there has been no major updates to add more features... What happened to all those features we were promised?

I still have the random shut down issue.  I wonder if MS fixed this problem for the new pink Zune.

I really hope this is an attempt to be sardonic. One website that repairs iPods changing its name to reflect its expansion into other forms of repair does NOT indicate a reduction in iPod sales.

In any case, you could always look at Apple's own quarterly earnings report for the facts: Apple sold over 10.5 million iPods this quarter. That's an increase of 24% compared to the same quarter a year ago.

Actually, it looks like pink is the new brown!

Wow, the Light Pink Zunes look stunning! Thanks a lot Cesar for providing these websites with the Pink Zunes so that we can get ahold of the limited editions. Really great and appreciating to have a Microsoft employee helping us Zuneless people out  in possibly getting hold of a Zune. Stickers and the other prizes were great too, but this one is simply the bomb. :) Maybe I can win one for once!

Anyways, thanks for the update too. Wouldn't have known that CrunchGear, IWAPZ, etc. was running the contest. ;) Now all we need is a Pink Zune giveaway right here at Zune Insider! XD

Chris, do you have your Zune in a case? If so what brand?

My wife had hers in a Belkin case and noticed it would completely power-off if left alone for any amount of time and also occasionally just power off when snapping the case shut. She switched to a DLO case and didn't have the problem anymore.

We never could figure out why the Belkin case caused the the behavior it did.

Thanks for this post. I've been dying for a zune, and it looks like winning one is the only way I'll be getting it in the near future.

omg...I had a belkin case too. They're the worst ever case!!!

My suggestion is to clearly go DLO. They have both hard plastic and leather case (Which im getting tomorrow @ J&R. Hard case blows and made my hold button pop off. I had to use a knife to get it back in.

That's how much I love my zune, cesar ^ ^

MN Zuning,

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, I have it in the Agent Shield clear case when using it on the treadmill, but I don't have it in a case when I use it at work.  The shut down happens in both scenarios.  However, it does happen more frequently in the clear case, but I think that is because of the treadmill not the clear case.  It seems the culprit is static electricty.  In fact, if I hold the Zune in my hand while running on the treadmill, the shut down never happens.  It is only when the Zune is in the cupholder when the shut down occurs.  I assume this is because the Zune is separate from my body, so when I get charged, the charge is transferred to the Zune.  I am not the only person with this problem, but MS isn't acknowleding it.  I do give them credit for sending me a new Zune, no questions asked, but the new one has the same problem, so that wasn't much help.

I gave up on this device.  Maybe second time around.  The wireless thing was a load of bizzleshizzle.

Thanks for the head's up on the many ways to win a Zune. I think Zunes are so much better than iPods, and I'd be much more excited about winning a Zune than if I were to win an iPod.

The screen is so much better on the zune. Even though the resolution is about the same on both devices, the zune's screen is bigger and so you don't have to squint as much. The Zune's screen is also taller than it is wide, so you can see more of your lists without scrolling. The Screen is colorful and bright enough for outdoor use.

The entire interface is more colorful and visually satisfying than the iPod's. Plus, you're actually allowed to customize your device by selecting your own photo as the wallpaper or background for the device. An iPod cannot do that.

The Zune's firmware is constantly being updated and thus I think the Zune has so much more potential of being more. I'm sure soon the Zune will support and play the recorded TV programs I've  recorded using my Vista computer. Plus with Vista's Sideshow feature, I'm sure eventually, the Zune could be made into a WIFI sideshow remote for my Media Center Computer. Speaking of WIFI, how awesome is that! And with more firmware updates, this feature is surely going to get even better!

Here's hoping I win one!!

Zune is awesome!  I just got mine, and after some frustration getting it set up I just love it!  the Zune web page is great there are so many downloads to choose from. and I really would like a pink one!  I have a brown one and well, I am just not a brown kinda girl!  I like chocolate but pink is my color!  Lets see what else can I say nice? The contest is so cool, Its great that someone will be rewarded for just being nice!  How Awesome is that!

wow I just looked at the photo viewer, amazing it is so cool!  the pictures are so sharp.

How can I get a free Zune, I mean I have a Samsung K5 MP3 player already, this my second MP3 player already. How can I tell my mom I want a Zune, without her paying for it? I am really in love with this Zune MP3 player!!!!!
