A Car, a Case, and a T-shirt

A ZuneInsider reader made a video of his Zune hooked up to his car, and emailed me the link:

And speaking of home-made creations, a 19yo Zunerama forum member has created his own line of cases for Zune:

Zunerama has more pictures and a full writeup. Hey, have you done something cool with your Zune? Got a cool home/car/work setup? Email me the pictures!

And lastly, I have one final t-shirt - only available in a women's medium. First person to email me (address after the jump).

Not sure you want the shirt? Our buddy Pinksage posts about it here. Ok, I'm off to a lunch meeting!

Looks like I need to play with the TV out a bit. Hadn't even really looked at that feature.

Then its just figuring out an appropriate way to install monitors in my 68' cutlass. :)

Looks like my 2000 mustang, and 02' explorer is getting a radio/display upgrade. Nice job. Rock on Zune, and zune team.

nighthawkz6

that is dope.

Wow someone hooked up a zune to a indash car monitor... big deal!

Ricardo Dawkins

Awesome car integration.....nice GUI there Zune

one thing that video highlights is how tags for videos don't transfer over to the zune.  if you pay attention you'll notice that each video says it is of an unknown artist and the year is 2007.  currently there is no way to remedy this problem.  any idea on when this will be addressed?

patrick

Yeah, that shirt looks pretty awful. Embarrassing is more like it.

Furquan

It would be pretty cool if Zunerama posts a template for the case (considering the picture on their site which shows the case opened up), so we can print n make our own ;)

If there is metadata in a video the Zune will pick it up.

"Note

In the initial release of Zune, WM/Year, Author, and WM/Genre metadata does not transfer to the Zune device. This will be addressed in future updates."

I stand by my statement. I use BeyondTV as my DVR.  It can automatically convert my shows into wmv files. Anyway...  All I do is sync it to my Zune.  The Zune will read the metadata.  It will categorized my shows in "tv shows" (as opposed to just having it in "all videos").  I can see the name of the show, episode, and description.  When there is more than one episode of a show, it will group the episodes together.  For example, it will say Heroes and 2 episodes.

Those videos that are in the video never had metadata.  If it did Zune would pick it up and not erase it.

I hope I made sense. ;)

well, i haven't done anything with tv shows, so i don't know about that, but i have an app to edit the metadata of videos.  i have no problem setting the videos to "music video," "movie," or "tv show," and i have no problem editing all the metadata so that it shows up in the zune software.  however, when i sync music videos to the zune, the artist and year don't show up on the device.

to be clear, the metadata shows up in the software, but it does not show up in the device itself, and this is exactly what the page from the ms site says should happen.  since i only looked it up after i had the issue, and since ms itself says this is an issue, and since it is a topic widely discussed on message boards, i'm going to have to stand by statement that the metadata does not sync.

segadc, do you see the following on the zune:  Author, WM/Year, WM/OriginalBroadcastDateTime, WM/ParentalRating, WM/ParentalRatingSystem, and WM/TVNetworkAffiliation?

those are the items that the ms page says do not show up for tv shows.  is that metadata transferring to the device?

segadc

That particular metadata you posted does not show up.

But the ones I mentioned before, TV Shows (section), Show Title, Episode Title, and Episode Discription all do show on the Zune device.

Looks like it is keeps some but not all of the metadata from a TV Show.

Really what it does now is enough for me anyway.  However, they definetly need to fix it when they launch the Video Marketplace.  So you can sort by network or block shows with a particular rating for example.

dead jim

i get that it's not such a problem for tv shows, but when it comes to music videos, which don't even show the artist, it's really, really annoying.
