I'll admit it. I'm a Star Wars geek. I've read the expanded universe storylines on nearly every character. I can tell you about the history of the sith. I know all the quotes, even when you replace a key word w/ the word "underpants", (as in "I cannot teach him. The boy has no underpants.")

So imagine my delight when I saw this video, which our friends at 'corps posted first.

Awesome. Kudos to the film-makers. "Force Send"  - genius.

Awesome video, the last few moments of it rock!

Good video

for a moment I thought you were going to post something from monty python's flying circus.

Very good video!

I am pleased to say that until Star Wars Episode 3 was released a couple of years ago, I had never seen the original movies. Thus, I watched the movies in sequential order.

Some say I was a deprived child.

;)

It shows, you can not trust Zune users.

In german i will call him: Hinterlistig

hah, nice one cesar

hahaha, awesome. These are the type of posts I've missed as of late. I'm glad we have the old ZuneInsider back :-D

Was that made by professionals? Has to be..

yay cesar is as much of a star wars geek as i am! lol.

@Met: if by professionals you mean they got paid for this, no. they're just really good at making movies. there are hundreds of star wars fan videos out like this with the saber effect and all.

The only movie I've watched too was their last one (the 3rd one). And I liked it. I've been waiting for a good day to watch em all.

But anyways, my Zune thinks it's up to date, but it isn't, I keep trying to update the firmware and I still have 1.2. Anybody having the same problem? If so, what did you do? Sorry if I ruined the "and now for something new" feeling of this post, but I feared that no one would scroll all the way down on the firmware update post. Sorry Cesar :(

Best thing I've seen all day.

Firmware and a new Star Wars lightsaber video... beautiful.

Why'd they make the Zune guy the evil one?

Good thing the update finally came out yesterday. Would have been a pity if the zune guy's light saber had started to skip during the fight.

Great vid.  Hope to see more like this one lol.

Rofl that was hilarious.

wow. that was "interesting"...how?

Cesar, when are you going to accept my friend request... Sheesh it's been 3 weeks ;)

Well this will go a long way in correcting the misconception that Zune users are dorks.

Well I would think the ones that would seek this kind of thing out or find it amusing would be dorks.  Doesn't matter what player you have.

Oh... anybody know why Amazon has a pre-order for a pink Zune?

Naris, have a look here:

http://www.cliczune.com/2007/03/pink_zune_on_ma.html

I have asked cesar to comment on this before but he never does

Why can't we just ask him about rumors maybe a couple of times and then just not do it anymore if he doesn't want to talk about it ?

It might be better to allow them to do their job (market it) their way.

That was sarcasm, right?

yeah Street I cancelled mine after a week lol.

ok, please resend the friend requests: cesarisok is my gt.

NPR recently released that Zune had 8.7% of the HDD PMP market in February.  Did you expect some retraction from earlier marketshare #s?  What will it take to turn those #s around?

(Computerworld, March 29, 2007) "Five things Microsoft must do to make Zune a success"

http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9014838&intsrc=hm_list

what's up John, great to hear from you, as always. We're actually happy with where we are in the market right now :) this is a multi-year investment, so that means we'll have some up months and we'll have some down months. I can tell you, though, that we have a new advertising campaign coming in the spring. . .

H I had an idea. What if you could receive firmware updates on you zune while in a wi-fi spot? This of course would mean you need to put more wireless features on the zune but hey that wouldn't be a bad idea.

Sean, I base the following response on little real technical knowledge, but I think that receiving firmware updates wirelessly is a very bad idea. Since wireless transfer has a higher risk of losing data packets than USB (very very low risk) you could potentially royally screw your device over. I don't think it's as easy as downloading the file to the Zune and updating it internally. I think a firmware update requires a consistent external connection to a PC (or similar device).

This is why companies strongly suggest not to update a wireless router's firmware over wireless.

Plus, we don't see firmware updates that often. It's a solution looking for a problem. Great suggestion though? The more the Zune can take advantage of its built in features the better!

Cesar, I retract my previous statement, you already had approved my friend req. Thanks for the add.

Check your email, I sent you an update via the new address..

Zune Earphone Output Getting Loose

Zune earphone output is getting loose. I have the Zune premium headset, and it now appears that sometimes I cannot get any sound without jockeying my headset connector inside the earphone output of the Zune. I just cannot believe that I have to replace one of the two after only three months service. Would you please help? I also happen to be the only Zune Player user in Espoo (Finland, Europe).

Thank you and best regards,

Freddie

I don't know ppl. But there is a persistent bug on the Zune.

Sometimes the setting for display timer, slideshow browsing, repeat and shuffle are changed while using the Zune normally.

Go to pictures, begin browsing any set of photos manually, zoom in on any photo then comeback to default photo view. Dont press nothing and in a few seconds slideshow mode kick in...WTF ?

Don't mean to be a d***, but when can we expect a release in Europe?

Oh, and by the way "met" - you can't be serious: "Why can't we just ask him about rumors maybe a couple of times and then just not do it anymore if he doesn't want to talk about it ?", why can't we ask about this:

http://www.amazon.com/Zune-Digital-Media-Player-Pink/dp/B000OK0CIQ/ref=sr_1_35/104-8378923-2868747?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1175289016&sr=8-35

Would have been nice to get a little bit of head-start of info about this pink release, before the world would see it on Amazon

I think that Pink version will arrive with 1.4 or perhaps 1.5 and new features.

if releases with 1.3 then BAD move MS.

very very nice blog.thank you for your informations...

So May 1st, 1.4?

I can't wait for the pink zune release if it means that my black one will be getting some love too. To all you ipod-zune-ipod switchers, start saving some money for a Zune :).

Well Cesar,

Thanks for the update.  Zune team thank you.  My only request was that I did not want my Zune to skip anymore.  1.3 did it for me!  Listened all weekend long not a single skip.

GLAD TO BE IN THE "SOCIAL"

wow, that is so awesome, i put it in my Zune and i'm gonna show it to everyone cuz they all have iPods. XD

Gee, maybe the iPod guy should've asked the Zune guy what time it was...  LOL!

Making a big deal out of a useless, DRM-laden WiFi transfer feature when you are missing basic clock functionality (judging from the other posts) demostrates just how out-of-touch the Zune crowd is w/ what people think is important...

1: Is there a way to put visualizations on the zune while your music is playing? that would be so cool!

and 2: I haven't got a responce about how I can delete music from my computer and not from my zune, well I deleted the music from the computer but now I am affraid of starting a new music library and when I sync it will delete the music I already have on my zune and this is what i am trying to prevent...any suggestions?

James:

1. no visualizations, but you can browse through a picture slideshow while you're listening to music.

2. try turning off 'autosync' in the settings.

I have posted some videos from the 60's. There are other videos available, including this months The American Veteran, for viewing or downloading at http://www.savethecolors.com/zunecasts.html

Our Heritage (run time 28:50)

An interesting examination of where we were as a Nation in the 1960s. Hosted by Dr. Frank Baxter (famous for hosting many children's educational films in the 1960s).

Summer Storm (run time 28:30)

Story of the Korean War. This 30-minute film was produced in the late 50s/early 60s.

No Greater Heritage (run time 31:00)

A 1967 film on the contribution of women in defense of the Nation. (meant to have this up for Women's History Month)

We have come a long way since these were filmed!

Keith
