SXSW Day 1.3

Greetings fromm the music capitol of the world!

I'm taking a break from shows at the Fader Fort to check in and give an update. First and foremost: I met Lily Allen! She played last night at The Zune NME showcase at Stubb's.

As for today (Thursday): after a quick run along Waller Creek, it was off the Fader Fort for the blogger breakfast. The folks from Queens of the Stone Age (label and management) actually brought a copy of their new album, Era Vulgaris - even though it's not out until June. I ripped the album to my Zune, hooked it up to the PA, and we played the album on repeat from about 11am-1:45pm.  And folks w/ Zunes in attendance each got sent a copy of "Sick, Sick, Sick" the single - to play three times in three days. Without 3days/3plays, the QOTSA people would have never allowed me to get such an advanced copy - so the song made its "debut" exclusively on Zune, exclusively via wireless sharing. Very cool.

Ok, gotta run - I'm missing Black Lips!

haha, actually it was a pretty nice story, wish i could have been there.

Picture with Lily Allen. Lucky Bastard. I noticed the Stubbs lineup on the zune website and it looks like it must have been a great show. I'll be there tomorrow (or maybe even tonight.) Can't wait.

Have phone and visit "The White Rabbit" when you're on 6th Street, say "Hi" to my little sis while you're there.

Btw, one of the guys here at KushCash just got a Zune yesterday and really loves it - I'm thinking about getting one - should ?

TheMan

We're at the middle of the month.  I've been checking everyday for updates, where's the updates?

Crystal

Ceasar already posted it's not out till the 20th

Wouldn't it have spread faster if you allowed the squirtee to squirt too, as opposed to just the squirter having that freedom?

Naris

I can see why they wouldn't let you use sharing sans restrictions, but 3/3 is a bit hard to enjoy the song all that much.  But it is rather cool that people with Zunes got a new song before anyone else.

Squirting?

How many Zune owners were in attendance and receiving the squirting?

TheMan

Thanks Crystal.

BlackOps

man, i wish i was there hah.. check out the band Mute Math if you get a chance..

What's up with the Austin cops???

Shravan

@Squirting?:

"How many Zune owners were in attendance and receiving the squirting?"

Three (including two from the Zune team). Just kidding!

i hate to say this, but did ms take the bonehead sony pr playbook and apply it to the zune, or is there some kind of internal struggle going on at ms over the zune

Heheh, it wasn't me. I'm waiting for the inside scoop on that, then I'll post. It's a little bit cool that Zune has paparazzi now.

timedrifter

Hummm... Kind of convenient a camera was around

*cough*Publicity Stunt*cough*

j/k ...a little

Crystal

Hey, TheMan - no problem.  I feel your frustration.

nighthawkz6

It'd be nicer if it was 3 days but unlimited plays :(.
