DELETED: Zune Retail Humor

<edit 11:59 AM>I talked to the retail team; this is a hoax. The actual ad that ran offered a $15 iTunes gift card with the purchase of an iPod, and free Zune Premium Earphones w/ the purchase of a Zune. In the immortal words of Strongbad: DELETED. Funny while it lasted, though!

Around seven thousand people sent this to me today:

No idea if this is true; my guess it's an error on behalf of the Spokane* Compusa.  I emailed the retail account team to find out. It reminds me of this little gem from back in September:

Let me save you all the trouble: "haha Microsoft, haha." Ok? Ok.

* I also want to take this time to give a shoutout to readers in Spokane, Washington!

Pink - I predict you'll get a lot of flack for that comment. In 5, 4, 3, 2. . . ;)

iFans are worst than those people who did that thing six years ago....

kidding :)

blaQ - what thing? sorry I didn't get that.

RomeoDude

I wonder if I could really get the gift card if I bought a Zune?  I guess Apple advanced from claiming the Zune as its own to trying to convert Zune users :)

What's so surprising about this ad???

Didn't you all hear that Apple licensed FairPlay right after Steve Jobs wrote his "Thoughts on DRM" manifesto? Get with it, folks!

:)

FOTH

In a DRM-less world you *could* use an iTunes gift card with Zune.

But I suppose that's not consumer friendly.

people are bored. LOL

Sorry to hear about the loss of XBox Live Arcade director Greg Canessa.  Hopefully this doesn't hinder/slow your plans to bring games to Zune.

Curses!  I go all the way to the states, buy two Zunes and two sets of Premium headphones, only to discover a week later someone running a bloody promo!  In the words of the immortal Soft Rock Whale, Mr Loaf, 'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAh Want My Money back!'. lol!

I'm so glad I bought those headphones (barring the fact that they are now free of course!), I learnt my lesson with my ipod and creative players - bundled headphones suck huge white arse.  Don't suppose you can tell us who manufactures them Cesar?

in other news - the Zune has been unable to combat the shitty radio reception in my area so I have to wait to go places to use the awesome radio-ness.  Had the same problem with all portable radios around here so defo not a Zune issue.

Currently using Doppler for podcasts - allows you to rewrite the ID3 tags - but pull your fingers out and gimme brown podcast buttons in the software damnit! ;)

TND - interesting article, but until we announce something, I would squarely label that as "rumor and speculation"

Spokane appreciates the shout-out!

Yesterday we posted a Weird Combo of the Day that offered a $15 iTunes card free with the purchase of a Zune. Later, we even had a "tip" from a CompUSA "employee" with a "screenshot" of an internal "memo" referencing...
