When will the Zune marketplace have videos?

Broken sharing

Looks like more than 50% of songs from Sony and Universal can't be shared. Implying that the one axis that Zune has worked to differentiate itself is broken.

Cesar, how about facing the music and posting a thread with the official comments from Microsoft. I am sure many people would be waiting to hear the news from the horses mouth.

Charlie

Universal Music and Sony BMG have decided that despite being paid hefty royalty fees for EVERY Zune sold, and being paid for every song downloaded on the Zune marketplace,  that they would not allow over half of their music libraries to be transferred amongst Zunes through their wireless features.

They have effectually broken our Zunes, and we can’t stand idly by and allow this to happen.

Here is how to contact them; email universal at communications@umusic.com

You can use the below email if you'd like to get your message across to them.

Dear Universal Music, I am writing this email to you as a customer that is severely disappointed with your company’s stance on making over half of your music library unsharable using the Zune’s wireless features.  You have effectively broken my device, by crippling one of its key features.  This has severely affected my ability to enjoy my Universal Music which I’ve paid for.

I believe that your company can only benefit from the Zune being able to share Universal Music, because it allows the promotion of Universal Artists to new customers.  There is no chance of piracy because of the Zune’s built in Right Management system which expires the song after three plays or three days.  Thus you can only benefit from allowing Universal music to be shared on the Zune device.    By continuing upon your course of action you are only building resentment and hatred amongst Zune users who have paid for the device, and paid for their Universal Music.  So please don’t consider this to be one complaint, as all Zune users are upset that you have broken their devices, and as more Zunes are sold, resentment for your company will only grow.

If you are unable to give your customers these rights for the music they have legally paid for then I will be forced to boycott your music and take on the task of informing as many people as I can of your abusive practices.  I sincerely hope that things must not come to this, so I urge you to consider your customer’s wishes and rights, and remove your ban on Universal music so that it can be shared by the Zune device.

I look forward to hearing from you,

We have to leverage the strength of the entire Zune community if we are going to make any progress and stop Universal's actions, so please, spread the word!

Record Labels Contemplate Unrestricted Digital Music

"Executives of several technology companies meeting here at Midem, the annual global trade fair for the music industry, said over the weekend that at least one of the four major record companies could move toward the sale of unrestricted digital files in the MP3 format within months."
