Bill Gates just got on stage 4 minutes ago; watch here.

Sweet! The Games for Windows compilation video used "Such Great Heights" by The Postal Service! Awesome!

I was just watching it...and they are putting it offline for sometime because of the HP Home Server...because of "intellectual property" issues...ok it's back on...thank god..

Albert

No Zune announcements?...what! Or is it planned for near the end of this keynote...because I'm anxious for anything...common...I thought you guys had something....?

John in S.Florida

Is that it?

John in S.Florida

Does this mean we shouldn't expect any updates soon?

Was only able to catch the last 20 minutes of the Keynote.  I will ask the no-no question ( I know you can't comment Cesar).  When will we get some MS-DVR/Xbox Marketplace love?  If you revealed any of that tonight, then sorry for being in the dark.  (P.S.  When you released the Zune software update for Vista....I finally got a chance to make sure the software worked......and yes I HAD TO BUY A ZUNE!!!  HIGH-FIVE!! I am pleased and overly happy.  Your team has done a great job. Downloading some channel 10 vids right now and getting ready to watch. One hardware suggestion though.  Something Apple hasn't done yet....A sport model.  Completely waterproof and shock resistant.  Yeah I know a throwback to the Sony days.....It seems a natural progression though.  You have alot of people out there that are using mp3 players to work-out to.  I think the zune could fit this market niche well.)

Joe M

I was hoping they would announce a firmware update to the Zune. I noticed on Zune.net they are demoing the Zune and what it can do. Right now the Zune can't play songs while viewing pictures and on Zune.net, they have the music going while viewing photos. I was also hoping the update would support other Windows OS's and also OS X. The iPod and iTunes supports more Windows platforms than the Zune, which sort of confuses me.

Charlie

I was so excited for the keynote...but all we got were sales numbers...(tear).

We did spot you in a few pictures from CES!

Charlie,

(shakes head)

I have no idea what he was talking about.

On a random note, I bet Bill Gates' trousers cost, like, a thousand dollars. Hey, I said it was random!

:)

Albert

On his trousers...from what I've heard, he dresses pretty casual, so I'm betting more on the $10-ish prices...lol. Anyways, I'm agreeing with everyone else, I thought you guys had some announcements for us but all I heard was that we were on our path to sell a million and that you guys were happy...but what about it (you know...Zune) and any stuff to continue exciting us... :( Well, let's hope you guys have something up your guys' sleaves...

Chris

Joe M - Just so that you and everyone else knows, the zune.net site is accurate. You can play music while you look at your pictures/slideshows on the Zune. I've never had a problem with this and it works perfectly fine.

Joe M

Never mind. Thanks for the clear up Chris. I meant listening to the radio while viewing songs. Sorry about that. I hope Microsoft announces something to do with the Zune during the keynote for Apple. That would be awesome!

Joe M

*I meant photos

Disappointed

I missed the speech. From CNET:

"No Zune news

There wasn't a lot of Zune news in Gates' keynote. The Microsoft chairman said the company wants to give the music player its own time in the spotlight, suggesting that Microsoft watchers can expect to see one, maybe two Zune-specific events this year.

Don't expect any new Zune devices soon. There are some things that Microsoft wants to do sooner rather than later, such as better interaction with PCs and more access to video content. But Zune has been on the market for only three months, Gates said, indicating that it may be some time before a revised version appears."

TomT

"Jan. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Microsoft Corp., the world's largest software maker, will make video games available on its Zune music player within 18 months, said Peter Moore, a vice president in the company's interactive entertainment unit."

Cesar, et al.

Microsoft should develop something like this for the Zune.  It seems easy enough and is very handy.

Didn't see the keynote, but just reading the comments above, it seems very ho hum. Nothing electrifying like Steve Jobs!! Man, with all the money Bill has, can't he pay for a style change? Or do some extreme makeover?? I swear I hate those Mac PC commercials, but truth is, that's the image of our PC. Especially when our glorious leader is some techno nerd like Bill. Sigh.
