Video (Spoof)

So as I've said before, this blog has some readers that seem to have sworn a blood oath against Microsoft and Zune in the 12th century. This post is not so much for you.

Back at the company meeting in Seattle, we saw this spoof on those hilarious "I'm a mac, I'm a pc" ads.

Like the how Microsoft would design the iPod package, this video was meant for an internal audience. But now that this video's out there, well . . . < hits "publish" and looks the other way ;) >

<Edit 11:30 AM> As Matty pointed out, Zune does not share videos: only songs and pictures. Thanks matty!

A video propagating the Zune sharing marketing hype?

Zune sharing straight from the Zune product manager:

I know its not an official Zune/MS ad, but I just hope MS doesnt resort to Apple's desperate tactics. I prefer it when a product speaks for itself. What Apple doesnt realize is that, those ads put Apple products in a box..i.e 20-30 age bracket.

Franco,

Many adults are looking to their computer savvy 20-30 something children, grand-children and friends for buying advice. Not always the case, but often. Does Apple know this?

A year ago I was recommending Dell and XP Pro. Now I recommend Macs and have switched over a dozen relatives and friends.

BTW: While I don't think Zune was released feature complete, I have no blood oath against Microsoft. I started with DOS 3.1 in 1986 and stayed through WinXP Pro in 2006. I do think Microsoft needs some restructuring, streamlining and a refocus.

Diego

The funniest part is how the Zune dude hasn't got another Zune user within 100 miles to share songs with. ;)

Hey! I'm back.  You lucky people.

I like it, perfect pretentious 'Apple is so Cool!'  style.

I am still gonna buy one, I think I am in 'FanBoy mode'.  This must be what it's like to be an iBoy, ignore all the bad - focus on the newest product! hehe.

That is of course provided my passport arrives in time.  Some people might suggest I should have sorted that out before ordering dollahs and booking the flights.  But no one likes a smart arse.

I did something pretty similar over Thanksgiving...

Hey...Microsoft copying something of Apple's again...how very creative.  And what's that about being so easy to listen to others songs wirelessly?  Pretty much every review has said the Zune's "Welcome to the Social" p.o.s. is just that.

Janne

Only problem with that Zune-sharing is that... well, it's not really sharing. More like borrowing. After you have listened to the song three times, it's gone. How could you REALLY get that song on a Zune? Well, you go to this website, you give them your credit-card information and you buy the song. Kinda like iTunes. Except instead of using real cash, you are using "points".

Zune Insider

Seems the internal-only-yet-leaked spoof video is causing quite a stir on the internets. And with that

jasonspix

That was good.  I don't care for Apple and doubt I'll ever buy a Mac, but I do like their commercials.  For those who bash the sharing feature of the Zune, do you honestly think that when the iPod has wifi that you'll be able to throw around songs left and right?  How much sense does that really make?

copy cats!

ALL YOU GUYS JUST COPY THE MAC ADS, JUST LIKE WINDOWS VISTA AND MAC OS X, GET A LIFE BESIDES COPYING THE COOLEST COMPANY AROUND, MAC!!!!!!!!!

saran

Any chance of anything like this becoming a real commercial?

Saran, I doubt it man. It's just a spoof (not a real thing)
