It is interesting, but how many songs and how many zune devices did you sell at this time?

I want one but I can't, I am french...!

Antoine

Brian Hughes

Ugh, I am not a fan of Gnarls Barkley at all... :(

Anyways, sweet idea! :D

This kinda of stuff would be excellent to integrate into a Zune friends/community type of section in the Zune software or site.

Then your Zune friends could possibly see what the last 5 songs you downloaded were, exchange playlists etc...

JHP

That's cool info. Thanks!

JHP

Expanding the top chart list on marketplace would be cool. Include more along the lines of what VH1 has

I don't have the software to access the Zune Marketplace, but shouldn't this information be THERE, instead of in a completely separate blog?

It actually seems like the list of "missing features" for the Zune is growing each and every day.

No integrated podcast support?

No smart playlists?

No clock/sleep feature?

No U.S. currency accepted at the Zune Marketplace?

No top 10 lists at the Zune Marketplace?

In late 2006, these things aren't even considered "features." They're so basic, that they are ASSUMED to be a part of a $250 MP3 player.

I know Microsoft is tiring of the comparisons to the iPod and iTunes, but to put it bluntly, "you asked for it."

In iTunes, you're greeted with the top selling songs when you first click on the iTunes Store. Of course, you're also greeted with the top selling albums, the top selling TV shows, the top selling movies, the top downloaded podcasts, etc.

There is a list in the marketplace, easily accessible.

As for US Currency, you buy points with US$, can't say I don't really see the difference if I pay cash for points, and points for songs.

James

Uh, there are Smart Playlists in Zune... they are called "Auto Playlists."  Just right click on the "playlist" item.

Franco

Wow...Crazy is still a top seller...

I like Akon.the only thing is i dont spend my money on throw away tracks...only classics.

Chris Hammond -- Thanks for the Flickr link to clear that up. My impassioned post earlier was sparked by the supposed lack of this particular "feature," which seemed to be as basic as it gets. I'm glad that I was wrong about this. :)

But paying cash for points and points for songs is no different than exchanging my cash for Euros and paying Euros for songs. It doesn't change the fact that U.S. Dollars are NOT accepted at the Zune Marketplace (except for monthly subscriptions).

I think it's great that Xbox users can use their points at the Marketplace. That is a GREAT idea. But making EVERYONE use them? That is a STUPID idea.

If it's so easy to convert cash to points, why not just let Xbox users convert their points to cash? (Only in the Zune Marketplace, of course.)

That would make EVERYONE happy, and all the criticism Microsoft has received on this issue would instead be turned into an advantage over the iPod and iTunes. ("You can buy songs in actual currency, like iTunes, but Xbox users have the extra advantage of being able to redeem their Microsoft Points to make purchases as well.")

Rhett

I don't think any of those bands are Crackalackin. heheh.

claw

this is probably a dumb question, but do you need to be a US resident to qualify for entry to the Zune marketplace??

Thanks to our retarded leaders who suck Bush's d**k, all of Americas copyright laws are now enforceable in Australia, not the reverse mind you!, so there should be no reason why we could not also participate.

BJ Nemeth

Claw -- It's not a copyright issue, it's a licensing one. Most media companies (music, TV, films, books) license their foreign rights to each country separately. Getting authorization to sell online to U.S. customers doesn't affect the licensing agreements with the Australian companies who distribute media in that country.

That's why the iTunes Store took so long to spread to so many foreign countries. (And why it's still not available everywhere.)

Bryant

Wierd Al Yankovic? In the top downloaded songs?

The Apocalypse is upon us.

God help us all...

bastardson

those bands are deffinitly not krackalakinictyness

I think what Rhett and bastardson are trying to say is simply:  Those songs SUCK!
