Not sure why, but I had a flashback: my first concert. Back in 1994, some buddies and I went to go see 30 Seconds Deep (now defunct). There's actually a record of the show online. That ska/punk show was the first time I moshed.  Feeling nostalgic, I dug around and found their old EP for sale for. . . 2 Dollars?! A steal at any price!

Anyways, it got me curious about you, dear blog reader. Tell us about your first show. Who* did you see? Drop a comment.

*I know it's actually "whom."

Rush - Grace Under Pressure tour 82. I didn't have my 3d glasses, though. HA-HA!
Well...techniqly my first concert was when I was 5...my dad worked in Marketing at Mcdonads at the time and would always score tickets, this time it was front row to see Richie Havenz, Jose Feliciano, and Don Mclean. My first real concert was a few years ago when a few of my buddies and I saw System of a Down play in their underground tour at the Metro. Craziest Mosh-Pit ever! Waited 7 1/2 hours in line to buy tickets...(we were the only kids there, I felt so cool at the time, lol). -Charlie
Well it was crazy Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson. I never saw so much black clothes in my life! The opening act was the Jim Rose freak show, and man was it on stage and in the crowd. zunetopia
Disturbed, preceded by El Nino and 10 Years. It was a small concert in Fargo, ND (probably only 1500 people there) and we stayed kind of away from the stage until Disturbed, which found me right in the middle about 5 people back from the rail. I don't really remember much about the concert except that it was a continuous fight to stay alive (or so it seemed). I left soaked in beer and sweat and smelling like pot. Quite the shocker for someone's first concert, on top of the fact that I never listen to that type of music anyways. 10 Years was loud beyond all reason too. Mind blowingly loud.
my first fake concert was listening to reo speedwagon in the car with my mom. she actually went to the show we had on tape and would always pick one scream out the crowd and say it was her. my first real concert was weezer blue album tour. i seriously died and woke up in heaven at the concert. only in dreams blew my mind.
*cough* Britney Spears *cough* (It was a school-sponsored event. I promise!)
Ska kids Unite! Mine was The Impossibles from Austin TX. I saw them in PA with Warped Tour including The Bouncing Souls, Rancid, Dropkick Murphies, Less Than Jake, H2O, and the Vandals! Incredible show, but the Impossibles found it impossible to stay together as a band. They were nice enough to sign their EP for me though! Real rockers talk to fans! *sigh* nostalgia, how we love thee.
Hey you guys...I hate to break the mood, but I just wrote an article dealing with DRM, and its effects on the Zune and the music industry. I'd really appreciate it if you could take a look! http://zunecorps.com/?p=65 If you guys like it, make sure to digg it! http://digg.com/apple/DRM_and_the_Zune_Impact_on_the_Zune_Apple_and_the_Digital_Music_Industry Thanks, -Charlie www.zunecorps.com
My first show was Trooper, in Vancouver BC. If you've heard of them, I'll award you 79 Microsoft Points. :) Harvey http://www.zunerama.com
Yikes ... Deep Purple, Seattle Coliseum, 1974. It was loud.
Paul McCartney @ UC Berkeley, 1989. I was only 12 and went with my Mom. He was banned from playing in Berkeley again because of noise ordinance violations. Good times were had.
1996 I believe it was... Cambridge England... TERRORVISION (now defunct). I think I still have the ticket stub somewhere :)
Gong's 25th Anniversary Concert at the Forum in London, 94. My memories are slightly blurry for some reason...
beach boys when I was about 8 or so. My first introduction to what a real concert should be? tool -- lateralus tour.
Middle school, 1994...we won a radio contest that brought IMMATURE to play a private concert in our gym. Pretty nuts. Too bad it wasn't McCartney like Tom up there :p
Comment removed by Cesar. On account of the namecalling. I don't allow that here.
Portishead, Usher Hall, Edinburgh. 1994
Michael Jackson. I was in India then and he was one of the biggest start to visit at the time. Used to like him then...
@ Donnie D. take a look at the second comment... -Charlie

AC/DC and Def Leppard (as the warm-up band) at the Palladium in NYC.
Queen in about 1978... You young whipper snappers!
hey i was just wondering, that if you only have 3 days/3 plays for shared music, can you rewind and fast forward? or do you have to listen to it all the way through?
No problems Donnie, just wanted to make it clear that I was contributing and spamming at the same time ;) -Charlie
stephen malkmus!(and the jicks)

Club show: TT Quick at a dive called The Rising Sun in Yonkers, NY Arena show: Iron Maiden and Quiet Riot at Madison Square Garden '82
bill- i have that maiden tour playing on dvd right now...that is so wicked awesome you were there.
Dinosaur jr supporting the green mind album. Loudest concert ever. I was deaf for a week. Ahhh... good times
Black Sabbath. 1981. Montreal Forum. Ronnie James Dio was the lead singer and they rocked.
green day and my chemical romance. i was 12 at the time, i thought i was so cool.
Murphy's Law & Underdog 10/31/1987 Irving Plaza NYC.
@ Bill and Donnie What tour was that? I saw the Powerslave (IE Live after death tour) tour in hartford CT and springfield MA way back when. I just saw them again this month (OCT 4th) In Hartford for the kick off show for this years tour "A matter of life and death". If you haven't heard the new album you should check it out. It's really really good. The show was so good I'm concidering hopping on a plane and jetting to the UK to see the show again in Decenber. Up the Irons!
rhett. i got that album today. it rips man. haha, i will post a reflection soon. so far i really like brighter than a thousand stars.
suns. not, stars.
The Offspring during their tour after 1998 release of Americana.
Chemical Brothers - they always pull off a good show
Rick Springfield & Cory Hart (Ummm...Sunglasses At Night!) at the Forum in LA, '82
Bill, Donnie, Rhett, my 4th or 5th show was Maiden, Number of the Beast Tour, I think it was 1982 or 83 at the Verdun Auditorium in Montreal. Bruce Dickenson was in good form - I read later that he broke his collarbone head banging at the show that night.
Stephe, cool beans, dude. 82 or 83 would be about right for NOTB. I saw powerslave (live after death) May 29 1985. Never heard the broken collarbone story before but I dont doubt it, Bruce is a physical performer. When I saw them earlier this month he was nuts. Running all over and Climbing up and down the set like it was a jungle-gym. He sounded fantastic, too. Air is so cheap these days I really think I'm going to fly to the UK just to see it again. I missed the Dance of Death tour so I'll make up for it by seeing this one overseas! Ha-Ha! Happy Halloween
My first show was Stone Temple Pilots. They had Red Kross and Meat Puppets opening up for them..... ahh the memories.
Funny, as with the first poster, Rush, Grace Under Pressure. Except I think it was 84, not 82.

Black Sabbath. 1981. Montreal Forum. Ronnie James Dio was the lead singer and they rocked.  :)
