Zune and Soup Recap

Thanks to everybody who came out for Zune and Soup last night. Matt from Crunchgear was there and wrote a quick recap. Check out the slideshow they made:

That's me in the video, with a Zune in each hand. And the out of the box headphones are magnetic. See you all at Ladytron/CSS on Friday (if you're going).

Im eager to know if there will be a way to save "quick lists" into playlists on the device itself? Anyone have any idea...?

Woody56292

haha. I posted it first Cesar. =P I am sooo glad it has magnetic headphones. Will the "premium" headphones also be magnetic? I am assuming yes but want to make sure.

Way to get the drop on Cesar, Woody. -Charlie

Thanks again for your work keeping the fans in the know! I'm worried about that dual layer artsy thing with the clear on top. I really want to go white. My son's DSLite got all kinds of gunk in around the edges between the clear layer and the white plastic underneath. Very difficult to clean out so after I got it clean I passed it on to a friend and bought a black one. Any testers get their hands "kid clean" and play with the Zune for a few hours to test this? ;)

Nice. It actually looks better than I thought it did. I love the white and the black ones. I was hoping the brown would be a darker shade.

I really like the look of the magnetic headphones. After looking at the colours I will probibly get the white. btw, do you have any idea for a release date for Australia? Even an estimate of the month would really help me out.

Chris

Looks great-as soon as there's one larger than 30Gb, I'll be all over it :)

Hey, you should check out this conversation about the Zune over on core77.com : http://boards.core77.com/viewtopic.php?t=10112&start=75 It is mostly one sided, with comments by iPod lovers (like myself) but it would be great to get the other side of the story. This is a slightly modified Toshibagigabeat S mp3 player. Nothing new here. It's too little too late, by a company that can't think originally.

hey everyone i just checked youtube and there are a few really detailed and interesting new videos of the zune, one of them is 17minutes long! just type zune into the search bar. after seeing some of them i am definitely going to get a zune, i am very impressed by the UI (v smooth) . btw cesar any news yet on when it will be arriving in europe, in particular ireland? thanks.

Jillian Lockwood

Is the song in the video one of the included songs when you buy a zune? If not where can i get a copy? It's really good!

Chris

I just preordered a brown Zune from Amazon. Don't let me Microsoft! I'm assuming that since I loved the Vista Beta 2, I'll love the Zune even more. I don't care what anyone says. Microsoft rocks.

sam

I know it's a trollish thing to mention but now that I'm looking at the slideshow and not press release pics, it's totally clear to me now that these things look almost exactly like iPods. Like if you took a Yawanawa tribesman from the Amazon river basin, let him play with an iPod for an hour, teamed him up with an alternate-universe Philippe Starck who had never seen an iPod before, and asked the two of them to make an exact duplicate of what he had just seen.

Zeke

Um, so how is it that the "design team" is taking credit for vision and "end to end" concept, etc. when this is a rebadged Toshiba player?  And creative design from MTV? Give me a break!
