A while back I wrote that we'd have more Zune preload artists to announce in the coming weeks. Well Richard and I just got the green light from our friends at Beggars to post that Norwegian phenoms Serena-Maneesh will come preloaded on Zune.

Not familiar w/ Serena-Maneesh? Check out their video for "Drain Cosmetics." Sweet.

Also, I'm loving the Zune haikus. Since I forgot to tell you when the contest ends, let's say. . . it ends at 12:00 am this Friday, 1 September (Pacific time). Good luck!

EDIT 4:53 PM Tuesday: Fixed name of band.

meh... this song isn't as good as the others.
Me, I'm liking the content. Nice work. I take back what I said in my haiku. :)
Dude, They are spelt Serena-Maneesh. Good work though and I like to think that NYUB put you onto CSS. ;)
How clueless is Microsoft about new music? Well. obviously Cesar isn't familar with the band either since he can't even get their name spelled right. Of course it's not an easy name to spell so we'll cut you just a little slack here -- or is this a case of cutting a deal with the Beggars label to give Zune a few hipster music groups to make Zune appear cool among the influentials? The band's name is actually spelled SERENA MANEESH. Maybe this is merely Cesar's typo and maybe he's never even heard of them before this posting, but either way here's the correction. http://www.serena-maneesh.com/
Passive aggressive much, Chris?
woops! sorry guys, had a typo and didn't catch. fixed now.
Yes that's right Chris. A single person making a typo means that a global corporation of 60,000 people doesn't have a clue about its markets. Well done mate. You're a winner.
Microsoft’s much hyped iPod competitor is just a repacked Toshiba player with some different software... Microsoft isn’t working on a new, secret, innovative product. it isn’t even working on a home-grown product. It is just repackaging a decent player from Toshiba and adding some better software to it. How. . . boring.
Digger? last time i checked the old toshibas didnt have a big screen and wifi ... but i guess any app manufactured from toshiba is a toshiba... heres the funny part.. that means that those apple macbooks are just repackaged AsusTek laptops... since asustek makes the apple laptops. GOd i hate how lame people can be, stop being so bold and ignorant
As for the music, i liked the first video from 30 seconds to mars i mean their up for best rock video on the VMA's but this group seems ... umm... way too indie for me lol
Meet Chris: He's so indie, he looks *up* and sees the underground. ;)
The quote is good, but the rest of the article is even better: "Microsoft’s Zune digital media player appears to be “another classic case of overpromising and underdelivering” by the software giant, according to American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu. “While we have great respect for Microsoft, we are frankly underwhelmed by the much-hyped Zune device,” Wu said in a research note today. “Microsoft had hinted of an all-new design from the ground up, but from our analysis, it appears that the Zune is essentially a repackaged Toshiba Gigabeat that has seen limited success. Moreover, the software is similar to the Windows Mobile OS licensed to its hardware ‘partners’. At this point, we believe this could end up being another classic case of overpromising and underdelivering by Microsoft.” http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/news/comments/analyst-microsofts-zune-player-underwhelming/
http://crunchgear.com/2006/08/25/confirmed-zune-is-toshiba-for-now/ ouch... ok I really don't think I want a zune now. Toshiba Gigabeat is a great product, but if the zune suffers from the same battery life ( if not worse because of wifi ) and lack of some good features. ( want voice recording and maybe an fm tuner? ) Why should we get this product instead of the Gigabeat, which we can already get now? ( wifi isn't a good enough reason ) We are really starting to lose faith Cesar, throw us a bone or something. Tell us why we should wait and get the zune instead of the Gigabeat? ( or any other product for that matter )
The difference between the Zune and the Gigabeat is that they will both do the same thing, but the Zune will have an entire extra layer of software, terminology, services, accessories, and promised roadmap to confuse the crap out of you and not materialize in any useful way. That's called "value"!! It's weird: Apple looks at everything and says "how can we make this simpler and more straightforward so people can actually USE it?" Microsoft, on the other hand, watches Apple raking in its' billions and says "I know what they're doing wrong! Not adding enough features! People like features. And new terminology to remember. And hype! Hype and vague promisory ramblings for years before the mundance and confusing product actually ships. That'll steal the market pronto!" Oh yeah and they took out that annoying friggin scroll wheel. Scrolling is teh suck! Go Ballmer! I...LOVE...THIS...COMPANY!!!
^^ you do realize that the scroll wheel is copyrighted by Apple right? so ofcourse MS isn't going to put a scroll wheel on there. ( physical scroll wheels are worse ) I personally would prefer tactile buttons like the gigabeat.
