There's not much I can talk about right now about Zune, which you all no doubt have noticed. However, today I'm able to confirm one thing: Zune will come w/ some pre-loaded content. I can't say who or what will be on the device, and neither can Richard, but as soon as I know, I'll blog.

Also, COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO PRELOADS, GorillavsBear today posts about a Minnesota band, Duplomacy

They're good, so check em out.

I have just come across this Blog, looks really interesting. I work for a new digital music label, www.daddyfreshmusic.com I would be interested in seeing if we would be able to fit into this new product. 'Microsoft Confirms Intention To Make iPod Killer', bring it on. Best, Aubrey Fry, A&R Manager, Daddy Fresh Music.
This blog is about as real as a Microsoft OS shipping date. You are being fed Microsoft marketing propaganda and posting it as blog copy. Nothing will ever change at the world's biggest $oftware monopoly.
When is Zune coming out. I have been unhappy with Apple products and look forward to Zune. I was hoping it would be out before my 21st birthday.
Honey, u r about to get a whole lot unhappier.
Aubrey - cool! I'll check out your site and forward it along to our biz dev team. anonymous commenter - I'm not fed the marketing propaganda. I write it, then I post it ;) Nice work "discovering" that Microsoft is trying to market Zune. Nicole: no release date is official yet, but it is coming out this year. Andy: Based on what? "U R" seeming to lack info, honey.
The official Microsoft Zune blog, the same one used to disseminate information to other blogs, says the Zune is going to come with "some content" on itno what, who, or how much of it. Wow, could you tell us less?...
Zune's attempted hype machine is classic Microsoft: like their OSes and their software, they are simultaneously trying to do too much and not doing enough. Settle down, guys. Relax. Just build a great product and let people figure out how much better it is. After all, there's going to be heck to pay if Zune tanks the way Vista is about to.
Aaah yes... the good old Microsoft bludgeon-it-to-death approach. Add features until only Bill Gates and God know everything it can actually do. Hype it as if it's a magical robot that can deliver world peace and bake you bread in the morning instead of just an MP3 player. What's phase 2? Well, if it's anything like phase 2 of Windows XP or Office XP, it's to basically watch with a confused furrow on your brow as your potential customers are bewildered by hype they don't understand, endless features they don't need juxtaposed with endless restrictions and shortcomings, and then watch only geeks and bleeding-edgers buy. Come on guys... it's been 5 years since you released XP and not even 50% of Windows users are running it! You also don't have 50% adoption of Office XP. Are we learning? Here's Microsoft "improving" on the iPod. I can't wait to see how much the Zune packaging resembles this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeXAcwriid0
that video is hilarious.
Some media sources seem to be a bit jaded towards MS hype tactics: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/microsoft/microsoft-zune-to-come-with-some-content-190361.php You cooooould argue that people always hate whomever is dominant. But I think you'd be closer to the truth if you argued that people hate companies that blow smoke up their butts and try to get them excited over something that isn't all that exciting. "Wow; an MP3 player? Astounding! It has features? Holy crap! It will come with MUSIC on it? Get me my heart pills!"
The official Microsoft Zune blog, the same one used to disseminate information to other blogs, says the Zune is going to come with some content on it—no what, who, or how much of it. Wow, ...
I disagree. I don't wear a watch, but my phone has a clock in it. I do have a watch, however, but it doesn't play music. If it did, then I'd wear it on my ear. It's statistically relevant that songs, albums and artists starting with the letter "Z" get heard less because they are always at the bottom of the list. There's more to music than meets the eye.
I can imagine the Zune being loaded with songs that require some subscription service to keep them beyond a month or so, nothing wrong with that. I see people deleteing those not unlike how they delete soo much software that's preinstalled on any new pc that is purchased. What i dont like is that the Zune will most likely be locked down and crippled like so many other DAPS out there just to satisfy RIAA. Apple is probably worse the MS when it comes to locking down its hardware and software, so thats not much of an alternative... we shall see I guess.
Are you acting in a play where you play a crackhead? Apple has some of the most liberal DRM in the industry. Just wait until you see what Microsoft, Intel, and the MPAA have cooked up for your "fair use" of digital media. You will pine for the glory days of freedom that is the iTunes restriction. Seriously: the next generation of movie and music distribution will be NAZI LEVEL RESTRICTED to the point where they are totally unusable unless you have Steve Ballmer's blessing on every device they touch. And it's Microsoft and the MPAA who have conspired to build this Orwellian future.
According to Ceser Menendez (Zune Insider), Zune will get preloaded content. Hm. What do you suppose
Very interesting Cesar. I look forward to reading more info on your site!
Hi Very interesting, looks extremely cool. I run a small electronic label and would be very interested to have some of our tracks on the Zune. Who would I contact about this? Cheers Mat
Zune will come w/ some content on it [Zune ...
Mat - leave your URL here and I'll (we'll) check it out!
ennis, if I am a crackhead, then you must be on Steve Jobs approved Meth! To say that apple has the most liberal DRM is simply a sleep deprived hallucination. Can I put music on my Ipod from any pc, NO. Can I take music off my Ipod to another pc that I own...No! can i play my ipod music on any other pc? no. now onto the hardware aspect. Can i buy a Mac clone? NO! The answer is that apple has a lock on their products that only they control and meth heads like you buy!
This is no doubt the wrong place to be asking but I was jsut wondering if you know if Zune has DVB support or if there will be a hardware add-on that proides DVB support... becasue that would make a Zune device an absolute must have!
Nice call on Duplomacy, picked it up on emusic. Keep the listening suggestions coming.
Angelo: whose DRM is more open than Apple's?
Hi Cesar We're going through a major re-launch at the moment, so the sites a bit bare. I've loaded a sample on the home page, just right click on the logo to download/ play. www.microscopics.co.uk Cheers Mat
Hey nice one Mat! What date's the relaunch?
Hi Sorry forgot to mention, we are now open... http://www.microscopics.co.uk It would be great to have some more electronic music on the Zune... Cheers Paul
Hi Cesar How do I remove me email address from above? I'm getting lots of (Japanese) spam from having my email up here. Many thanks Mat

Cool!
